Bait spikes suck imo much rather use a bait line, shedder crabs are good bait keeps other crabs out lobsters seem to like them as a food, hardshell crabs aren't good bait tho and will attract more crabs.

Just out of curiosity why are you leaving the crabs in the lobster traps
Some of the times we do some times we don’t, there’s vents on the traps made for them to get out, they aren’t trapped in there
