    what did he say about the coronavirus? a lot of asian buyers what?

    • @FrankZhu
      @FrankZhu  Před 4 lety

      Kai mentioned that due to the Corona virus, alot of the Asian buyers from Singapore, China etc could not attend the Tucson show this year because of travel restrictions

    • @nyssasyratov6839
      @nyssasyratov6839 Před 4 lety

      @@FrankZhu oh i see. thanks. i'm from singapore and i didn't know people actually travelled all the way out to attend gemshows. i knew it came to singapore once but i missed it. also i'm new to mineral collections and am very wary of fakes around - grown in the lab, or crystal terminations glued into another cluster. thanks for your resource here because it's educational. i'm finding it hard to know where on the internet to read up on reliable material on what constitutes good and bad quality minerals so that i don't get duped or overpay. do you have any suggestions?

    • @FrankZhu
      @FrankZhu  Před 4 lety

      It all depends on what mineral/stone/crystal you're interested in. People travel from all over the world to attend this show & others. At shows like these you won't find too many "fakes." If they are lab grown crystal, it will most likely be noted as such by the respective vendor. I do recall seeing a few booths selling lab grown quartz specifically. One vendor even had educational information on the process involved in growing quartz. I thought that was pretty neat.
      Overall, you'll find good quality material at this gem show; pricing however is a different matter...

    • @nyssasyratov6839
      @nyssasyratov6839 Před 4 lety

      @@FrankZhu after watching your video, i believe most of the sellers in the gem show are honest and knowledgeable. i'm unable to travel myself and interested to find out about fluorite, azurite and malachite because so far, i have messaged and talked to online sellers from china and they are telling me for azurite, the most important things for quality are size of crystals and the shape of the sample. i've also read that ebay sellers for minerals may be using shill bidding, so for selling practices that i see online, they don't seem to be genuine. do you know of good reading material for what constitutes good quality fluorite, malachite and azurite?

    • @FrankZhu
      @FrankZhu  Před 4 lety

      @@nyssasyratov6839 Thanks for watching the video! I'm not a geologist; There are many resources online that can help you with your inquiry about quality. They can explain it much better than myself.
