Their portrayal of the therapist (or potentially any other social services official) weaponising her position of authority, as pertaining to the court custody ruling, by dictating the terms of engagement in their home is 100% keeping to the plot.. Grrrrr I felt that frustration.. 🤭😂
Oh. My. Goodness. That therapist/social services official ground my gears!!! It was so frustrating, but also not too far from reality, how guardians/parents receive zero support in situations like this and we saw Gemma be judged for a whirlwind she had no way of preparing for! Gaaahhh 😂😂😂
Social workers are 100% the enemy. I had a good friend have his life get ruined by two foster kids who accused him of molesting them because their crackhead mom who was in jail and somehow still got visits with them told them to say it 'so they could get to live with mommy again', which obviously they couldn't but they're young children who'll believe anything. Social workers used leading questions to get the kids to say exactly what they needed to get him busted, and eventually he was exonerated because obviously they were lying and they finally admitted it, but he'd already been fired from his job and his stupid bitch of a wife divorced him on just the allegation.
Fuck CPS and fuck social workers.

I really liked Megan she is rising to be a future horror icon. Megan is played by two actors named Amie Donald she was only 13 years old and had gymnastics and dance talent plus Jenna Davis a TikTok star did the voice.
We really do need more horror icons like back in the day. We would love to see more characters like this one pop up!
I love the Shining touch when Jemma's boss rounds the corner and sees Megan.

You mentioned that Cady is like an addict in the observation room (when she wigged out and slapped Gemma). I've noticed that if you look closely you can kinda tell that she has bags under her eyes like an addict (or junkie).
Right!! The way she descends so quickly into rage fits is just another indicator of how dependent she's become on Megan!

So this is how they did M3GAN- She was played by 2 actresses, One who was actually there wearing a mask and wig (The eyes were added in post). Then they needed the voice, and the girl who was in the suit was AMAZING but she sounded WAY too young- so they cast a CZcams artist as the voice. They have a few BTS clips on CZcams it is amazing. The thing that i find funny is this, people freaked out because “we could be getting closer to having robots in our homes”- BUT the robot was played by TWO people. 😂 So I think we are okay for now. 😂

The way they achieved M3gan is honestly so impressive, the voice and the physical work was just stunning!
The girl wearing the mask was a dance student. Thats how she could pull off the excellent choreography.
Not only that. The full body movements were done by stunt actress with CGI face replacement. But all the close-up facial expressions were actual animatronics. They built the M3GAN doll face(s) using servos and remote control to make her show different expressions. Even her lips were synced from audio autonomously. This is state-of-the-art robot tech used in movies.
Fun fact: Jenna Davis, the voice actress, has a very quick cameo in this film. She's the _"M3GAN"_ that grabs the dog through the fence before she kills him.

Fun Fact: Actors dressed as M3GAN showed up to the Los Angeles Rams/Los Angeles Chargers NFL game on Sunday January 1st, 2023 to help promote the film. They even did a dance midfield during halftime.
January Fresh Fact: One of the first Hollywood films within the last 45 years to be released on the first Friday in January and obtain a fresh Rotten Tomatoes score. Traditionally, films released on the first Friday in January, especially horror films, had received generally negative reviews from critics.
Bloodless Horror Fact: The film was originally shot as an R-rated movie until the producers noticed while editing that it was close enough to PG-13. They re-shot certain scenes to tone down the violence and believe that it became more effective than actually seeing the violence on screen. Jason Blum cited Drag Me To Hell (2009) as a good PG-13 horror film that was effective. The writer for the film said the original body count was much higher with the film being much gorier. Writer Akela Cooper had hoped that the unrated cut would be released. Thankfully it did eventually release unrated on Peacock when it came to streaming.
Glad to hear this did well on the box office especially for a January release. Like you said normally Hollywood just dumps movies during those calendar days and hope they make some money. But glad this one was successful! Hopefully they bump the sequel to a summer release!

Megan going crazy didn't technically have anything to do with anything going wrong with her coding BY DEFAULT. I think it was a hardwiring issue, if you look back to when the neighbors dog bit Megan on her neck pulling her through the fence there was a spark so the dog bit something that messed with her programming.
That's actually true, you have a point there!! I feel like some of her behavior before that was still slightly off too, and that dog bite just pushed it off the ledge!

A24 is my favorite studio right now (I also have loved Blumhouse since Sinister was released) but A24, man they just can’t miss. I even loved Beau is Afraid (their newest release). Also, I think you were thinking of the Furby, that was the prepetual pet of my generation 😂. Stay well. 😊

@@OfficialMediaKnightsI did- It was an amazing look inside the mind of a specific character, and I think they did it in a new and beautiful way. A24 likes to go out on limbs, is it Oscar worthy- I don’t know 🤷🏻♂️ who does these days 😂, but It made me laugh and made me feel- so that counts as a great film in my book.
Megan is a mix between an actual actress who is wearing a mask and the costume and is a pro dancer as well as athlete and it was her idea to run on all fours through the woods like that. She is also voiced by someone else and they use cgi when needed of course like the part with the dog attack of course. The moment the dog attacked her the sparks in megan's eyes show that her main chip got damaged and because of that she started to act the way she does from then on. The r rated version is a lot more gory and shows how M3gan kills the neighbour and the boss as well. There is a second one coming out that will be called Megan 2.0 so that should be interesting.
M3GAN is almost entirely an animatronic puppet. The actress DOES NOT wear a M3GAN mask. She wears a plain, vaguely human silicon mask which is digitally overlayed with M3GAN's face and she's only used in the scenes where they need full body shots.
@@Kaylakaze Didn't look that way when I saw behind the scenes and she was the one that did the chasing Brandon in the woods,the dancing when she was about to kill the boss and yes some of the other shots as well but you are right they did also use CGI and a puppet as well.

I find it so fascinating how many people automatically hate the therapist for just doing her job. and in the end, she was absolutely right about a lot of things: Gemma didn't make space in her life for Cady in the beginning and was more worried about her job. also, by creating M3GAN, she developed Cady's obsession with her rather than focusing on becoming that primary caregiver that Cady needed. could she have been nicer about how she went about it? maybe. but she was still right.
Oh definitely. She was right! But she didn’t have to go about it in such a preachy way. That’s mainly the reason why I’m assuming people hate her 😂

She shows up A DAY after Cady gets there and acts extremely condescending. She's a luddite that automatically assumes attachment to a human is better than attachment to a robot, which, frankly, is stupid. She wasn't right about anything. The worst part of the movie is that she survived.
Interestingly I watched this whole movie on an airplane ✈️ when I was on vacation going to South America. I was surprised! I actually really enjoyed the movie, Katie character was a great actress and the movie overall I enjoyed 💯

My wife teaches computer technology at a state college. She won't watch this movie.
She is always talking about life imitating fiction.
When they made "The Hunger Games", the technology for 3-D Holograms on tabletop computers, that you could reach down, pinch and pull up, was not possible. Someone saw it, and now it is a reality.
She is always afraid that, even though the technology is not to the point that androids can behave like this, she's afraid someone will create one like this, after seeing the movie.

I never saw this movie before and when the showdown happens, I found it a little unbelievable that the girl would attack Megan as close as she was to her. Most kids would be bawling their eyes out. Doesn't mean I didn't LIKE the showdown tho :)

Okay finally had time to watch this and upon rewatch, I can't say for certain if it was the company or just the context being different now that I understood the tone, but I enjoyed this movie much more on second viewing. (still would have done the ending a little different but it's just nitpicky stuff)
Sometimes it takes a second viewing to really make up your mind about something! And that’s totally ok. We do this exercise quite often actually. Last night we rewatched a film Denise loves but I didn’t quite like the ending and rewatched it. Still felt the same way. But there’s been times where I actually like a film more!
