Fun fact: according to the gxk novelization, godzilla loved the. Colluseum or just rome in general, is because the architectural design of the colluseum reminds me of his old home, which was basically Atlantis, that was destroyed in king of the monsters.

I love how it seems like Godzilla actively doesn't want to be here. He spends the whole movie getting stronger so he can end the fight as soon as possible and go back to bed. He HATES Kong and all the wacky adventures he goes on, and is guilt-tripped by Mothra into helping him. He's an unwilling participant in his own movie and its kinda hilarious
That look he gives Kong at the end after Kong smirks at him is, “If it wasn’t for Mothra, I’d have left you for dead with a smile on my face. I had to beat on 3 women today (Scylla, Tiamat, Shimu), and being associated with you has been my lowest moment today”

I love just how much personality all these monsters are getting in this franchise. Godzilla takes down the bad guys but is always pissed off, Kong is growing into the wise old warrior king, and Mothra is the team mom who'll whoop you if you get antsy 😊
the director was inspired by his cat for that godzilla sleeping in the coliseum shot and i LOVE THAT i love how directors have all mutually agreed to just reference cats when portraying giant lizards/dragons of any sort
Fun fact, Mothra does have a sort off pheonix like ability to be reborn in the older movies, altough the process is usually a lot slower, since she has to hatch from an egg, then hang out a while as a larva, and then go into a cocoon and finally mature into an adult moth, and then die shortly after because she's way to brave for her own good

Would love for it to happen but legally it's about as realistic as Spider-Man fighting Batman in his next movie.
Destoroyah to wrap up this trilogy. Then probably go back to seperate solo adventures with Godzilla, Kong, and maybe a Pacific Rim reboot set in the MV. Then do a final film against an original Titan.

Such a blast of a movie and it's the first time seeing Godzilla Mothra and Kong together for the first time in Kaiju history. Even more amazing. I can't wait for Godzilla/Kong 3 and future projects from both ToHo and legendary
When I stopped questioning things and just accepted this film for what it was, I enjoyed it.
Fun fact: Terry Nortary who is the coach mocap ape in the recent planet of the apes movies and plays rocket in those movies, does the mocap for kong in all his appearances.

I know Godzilla is Earth's protector from evil Titans, but he causes SO MUCH collateral damage😭. Like, did he really have to swim through all those bridges when he went after Kong? Couldn't he have just swum a little deeper in the river to avoid them??😂 Hell, Cate Randa from Monarch: Legacy of Monsters suffered PTSD after Godzilla walked through the Golden Gate Bridge and destroyed it, causing a whole bus full of children to die🚌

Suko (or mini kong) is a kind of hybrid between Scar King species (orangutang) and kong species (gorilla) when u see scar king lairs u can see an harem and some of them are carrying babies very similar to Suko. Also the one ape that scar king kicked on lava was actually suko's mother.
Another fun fact, despite been clearly an infant suko is taller than teenage kong on the skull island movie, teenage kong was 104ft in that movie, Suko is aparrently 131ft, wich means that when he reachs adulthood he can be much more taller than adult kong

Some of the Great Apes have individual names: according to TV Tropes, according to the novel, the one with the blind right eye 👁 is fittingly called "One-Eye" and is apparently one of Skar King's children alongside Suko and other infants 🤔😓. The one that Kong tries to save from falling off the cliff but ends up having to kick him off the cliff for real in self-defense because he was a sorry little ingrate who still attempted to kill Kong after he had just saved his life 😠😡🙄😒🤨, his name was Stone Fist 👊 ✊️ 🤛 🤜. Another one of the initial attackers along with One-Eye and Stone Fist was called Catcher. Another one of Skar King's goons, the one crushed by Kong's giant swinging stone trap was apparently called Knob. The ape who was Suko's caretaker whom Skar King brutally murdered in front of Suko and Kong, his name was Gnarled Finger, and while "friend" might be going a bit far, the novelization reveals that, prior to meeting Kong, Gnarled Finger was the only Great Ape to treat Suko with any measure of kindness by letting him eat the scraps of his meals and shielding 🛡 him from being attacked by the other apes 🥺😣😔. And the Great Ape slave that Kong helps up and beats up the bully abusing him, while not named in the movie, was named "Boots" by the movie's vfx animators 🤔😉.
57:50 Godzilla uses his swimming skills to fight in a no gravity zone. Notice how he manages to steer his way like a shark towards Shimo.
These past MonsterVerse movies have been epic!!! Great action, enough dialogue to not bore you too much, and Kong and Godzilla are epic!!!!

First of all THANK Y'ALL for acknowledging that it made sense to take jia. She had more than one reason to go. Narratively just smarter than most movies. And y'all noticed the tracking shots. Just makes me happy to see Adam get the credit he deserves. His are my favorites in the monsterverse and they are SO NICE to look at. Finally no more dark Godzilla movies. Minus One got me into Godzilla but I seriously love these movies and their rewatchability is so great. Empire is amazing.
I loved how deliberate and intelligent Mothra was.

Something that bummed me out about this movie is the lack of time we got with Tiamat. She was built up a lot in the tie-in comics, she was an absurdly poweful Titan that was also revealed to be essentially Godzilla's cousin.
She was probably the most popular Titan to not appear in the movies until now.
I am quite sad we won't see more of Tiamat but at the same time Godzilla is positively burning with radiation so it makes sense most titans can't stand up to him rn

This movie (and Godzilla vs Kong) is the closest a live action film has ever gotten to the visuals and vibes of the Saturday morning cartoons I grew up on.

Any protection Godzilla fights to people is incidental. Kong is a protector of mankind and ruler of the hollow Earth. Godzilla is the guardian of nature and king of the monsters. Mothra is Queen of the monsters while also being the protector of the iwe people. Also Suko look small but he's over 100 ft tall which is a similar size as Kong was in Kong skull Island and he's a lot younger so that means he will be way bigger.
I took my 11 year old grandson to see this opening weekend and he loved it, I really enjoyed the ridiculousness of it 😂

But like,Dude…I swear, Kong using the little ape as a freaking weapon to smack the others around, has got to be one of the funniest things I’ve seen happen during a fight scene…like EVER my dude! 😅 I legitimately had to pause the damn movie because I was laughing so hard at that ffs!😂amazing!
Shimo is a very distinctively unique titan in the monsterverse. Her mastery over the sub zero temperature combined with her extremely high durability makes her a formidable adversary for any threat. Not only that but coupled with her speed on four legs and the ability to fight on four or two legs give her a sizable advantage in combat. Having said this i respect that she looked to Godzilla for what he thought the best course of action for her. She not only sees but understands that he is a balancing force of nature and respects that by deferring to him what must be done for both the surface world and the Hollow Earth to be safe. This theory is solidified (to me anyway) when she watches Godzilla undo her weather manipulation with an almost sense of awe that he is able to do that. Shimo to me is that tough older warrior you see in stories with a heart of gold under that despite being a little up there in age is a formidable ally and lasting friend.
This is an awesome popcorn flick right here. I enjoyed this a lot more than I realized especially the ending

I will watch these movies ahead of time and then I’ll come here to see you guys react to it, with that said, I love the fact that Coy and Andrew look like bookends to Tara in the middle in a different colored outfit😂l😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤ ❤❤
