  • I found this tiny woodstove on amerzun and thought I would give it a burn. £2.81 so I wasn't expecting too much. Sausage patties sarnies with some MRE red chilli sauce and a toffee nut coffee is on the menu. Hope the mini stove can handle it.

    Watched through to 13:35 and only now noticed the size of the channel. Production, narration, montage - all really really good! I believe it's a fluke and people will initially (as they SHOULD) pay attention. This channel should have at minimum several hundred thousands subs

    Cracking video rob, I use the lixada version with the hinged sides. Your right tho wood prep is key to using them, but for a brew and warm sandwich, there an awesome pocket sized treasure. And the price is stunning. Never know how they make things so cheap. But handy for the outdoor ventures. My stove fits inside mine too. Again loving the content👍🏽👌🏽

      Cheers Pete. I like the idea of hinged sides. It is a bit fideliy to get together. But I do like this stove. I was pleasantly surprised.

      Think mine was around a tenner delivery off another selling site, and it’s 3.5 inches square, but my trangia won’t fit in the upper part. Let’s hope this rain blows away soon. For more great relaxing adventures👍🏽

      @@Pete619 Mine's a no-name knockoff of the folding Lixada with hinged sides, the sides are actually rectangular i.e. it's higher than the width of the base. My Trangia fits a treat but I put it in the bottom and it works really well like that, it contains and funnels the flame to the base of whatever I put on it - canteen cup or mess tins usually. I can even get away with using the simmer ring as well if it's not opened out too far.
      As a twig burner it's excellent too, there's a nice big aperture on one side to feed it as I usually go out to woodland there's always plenty of small deadfall bits to use in it. I paid a tenner off ebay for mine but can't find the knockoffs now, but the original Lixada are only around £13 if you can wait for delivery from China.

    I have a similar one Rob, slightly bigger as a Trangia fits nicely inside it. Mine was about £6 and 3 sides are hinged with the 4th side held together with a removable oin. Far less fidly to put together, takes literally 5 seconds. I've never burbt wood in it as it makes an ideal pot stand, wind break for the alcohol stove. I'm sure the one you have would accomodate an X boil type alcohol burner. Another good enjoyable video. Strange isn't it that sitting watching a bloke make a brew and cook a couple of burgers on a tiny stove is somehow compelling.😀 But it is. I really enjoy your roving about.... Wherever it may be 👍

    • @robtherover
      @robtherover  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Maybe if I don’t put the base of the stove in it and just place it over a trangia burner I might be able to get it in there. Will have to give it a go. Glad you dig the channel Alan. Makes it all worthwhile when people say they enjoy the content. Been doing it a while now. ATB mate.

    👍👍👍 .. for the price, not bad at all.
    Any 'inconvenience' .. think of the price .. and some sandpaper or a small file will take care of those burrs 😊.
    It should also work well with a home-grown Meths Burner or Compressed Charcoal Briquettes .. a pack of nine briquettes fits nicely into a ziploc bag, weighs nothing, takes up minimal space and will give one Bacon, Egg, Toast and Coffee, or in my case, a pot of Oats, Toast and Coffee. Charcoal complements Twigs nicely.
    To protect the underlying surface, put the stove into a small aluminium pie holder or something similar, cover the bottom with some water (keep topped up if necessary to allow for evaporation) and Bob's your Uncle 👍.
    A good share, well-presented .. thanks. Take care ..

      Nothing a couple minutes with a file can't fix! When I go on adventures, I use a Leatt waist pack with hydration bladder. This stove will be perfect to throw in that so I always have an emergency backup stove in case something happens and whatever stove I took that day doesn't work.

    lol. I love these little things but I own the deluxe titanium version that cost me $34USD but it works with both wood or a small alcohol stove/burner. Mine doesn’t seem to burn through the wood as fast but I can not be sure. Mine only has one opining in the front and the openings in bottom are the same. Don’t know how many meals I made on it but would say over 300.

    • @robtherover

      It’s a great little thing. Bit gutted the trangia burner doesn’t fit. The wood I was using is kindling I bought from a supermarket. It’s soft wood so is going to burn through in no time. I will be trying it with forest wood soon as the pesky rain stops for 5 minutes.
