  • Located off the coast of Pompano Beach, Florida, Captain Dan has one of the longest and most intriguing histories of all the Florida East Coast wrecks. Was constructed March of 1937 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1990 the vessel became stuck in the Miami River where the decision was made to retire the ship and make it an artificial reef. In February of that year, the ship was renamed Captain Dan after the late Dan Garnsey and sunk in 112 feet of water.

When I get to South Florida that one needs to be on my list of to do dives. Thanks for sharing and giving the info on the wreck. I try to explain dive sites on my videos so others can have a knowledge of it. Awesome video.
