It couldn't be easier! Halve the woollen blanket: less weight and more space in your backpack. DIY project for all wool blanket fans.
When I was recently on an overnight tour in Tyrol, I had my heavy and bulky rug with me. As always, I only used half of the blanket as a comfortable underlay in my camp. When I was home again, I simply cut the blanket apart in the middle and re-stitched the cut edges. The result is a much lighter rug that is less bulky and still serves its purpose.

Wool is a very important part of my outdoor equipment for me. Especially in winter I wear a lot of wool, so that my clothes can spark and it warms even when wet. Especially if you set up your camp in the snow after a tour, it is very important that you wear warm clothing. Functional clothing is only conditionally suitable for such a requirement ... no problem at all for wool!
