    One of the best traditional boat documentaries I've seen. The teaching sequence alternating (i) a large operating model, then (ii) the same action on a real hooker, was superb. Thank you for psoting!

    1971 the view of a hooker, sailing into roundstone harbour was reason for my passion of sailing ...
    a bigger model standing in front of my window since 30 years is wonderful to look at
    sail on !

    I just got a surprise when i saw this suggested youtube clip. There was my fathers face, talking about boatbuilding. He passed away two years ago.

    Always wondered where in Ireland you'd get such huge pieces of timber - they bolt the pices together in a giant jigsaw. Pretty resourceful.

    And the boat with 20 barrels of porter was never seen again ... The porter that is ... the boat and badly hung over crew turned up 2 weeks later.... rofl
