I think that you could incorporate pencil sharpener to the spinning button. That way all the children could sharpen their pencils while waiting to cross the road on the way to school. A sharp pencil is a sign of a sharp mind, as my old schoolteacher used to say, before he got arrested. We never found out what exactly he had done, but he did not come back.

I remember explaining to a friend about the knob that turns under the crossing button. I'd like to imagine that mentally this was his reaction. In real life he just said "what? I never knew that". Shame such insight and amiability was lost.

That revolving button is on all these crossing boxes. It is for blind or partially sighted people so they know when its time to cross. Soon as it says CROSS the dial rotates. The person pushes the button and then holds the dial until it starts rotating.
I was going to argue it's for deaf and partially blind people as the beeping let's you know when to cross... but someone else got there 1st, lol anyway, this is question that nobody asked 🤷♂️... kinda takes the humour out of the sketch, much funnier to let people not in know, to think there is a finger pleasurer hidden in every day UK street furnishings?! 😅
@@octaviussludberry9016 could be deaf as well as partially sighted yes. If the person has hearing then the beeping will be sufficient.
@@CrustyBiker well you could say the sketch got us all talking about the function of the button. The sketches that Quentin creates are a form of art .. and i guess that us talking about it shows it has delivered a topic worth chatting about, like a quality painting.
So they have to extend their arms to check whether it is safe on the other side?
