Wow ! Glad your making these ! I was just looking at Freeze dried taco mix, and thought how I would make my own Chips! Funny you just popped on ! We’re having a storm also . Stay safe! ❤
Freeze dried taco mix sounds awesome
serendipity!
@@crystalclear1969 trying to plan meals in case The shtf :)
Looking forward to trying the chips. Never thought of using my Kitchen Aid attachment to roll out the dough!!! That will be a huge help! Thanks!
I always wanted ro know how to make these. Thanks for the demo.❤😊
You’re welcome 😊
Hi Toni... thanks again for sharing all your knowledge and experience. I pray that you always have provisions and plenty.
Thank you so much!
Those look awesome! I broke down two weeks ago and bought a cast iron tortilla press, thinking tortillas can be used for sandwiches if necessary. You know - less prep, less cook time, especially if the oven doesn't work but a campfire does. I never thought about making chips! They, too, could be used for scooping up food - and especially salsa! One of my "bell pepper" plants wound up being a hot (really hot) pepper! No idea what kind. It looks like a large and long jalapeño so I took a bite. Ye gods! Husband thought I was being a drama queen so HE took a bite. If I hadn't been gasping from the burn so much, it would've been funny. I'm going to can up long slices of jalapeño (we still have a dozen jars of salsa), and add a slice or two of the hot one. I LOVE spicy but not when it scorches - lol. Btw, those tomatoes look beautiful!
Yes, I was glad to find real nice tomatoes...may go back for more...we'll see after this lot has been processed!
When using the Masa you use hot water and do let it rest for 30 minutes.
Thank You!
That was awesome, Thank you
Thanks to your tutorial I have the courage to try it ❤️
It would never have occurred to me to use the pasta press for tortillas! Thanks for that 😅
You are so welcome!
I’m definitely going to make these.
They look really good!!!😘❤🙏🏻✨
Great video !!! Thank you
You read my mind! I was just thinking earlier today I’d like to try this.
Awesome job. They look delicious.
Thank You!
They looked good!
You made that look so easy!
It was!
Those are coming out really nice they look yummy
Thank You!
Okay Toni, I must correct you on this being an almost native of Arizona-lol! You don't pronounce the "" ll's" in tortillas! Tor-te-as! 💜 from your friend in WA 🇺🇸😎🇨🇦
Well that will depend on where you were raised. As Latina I do pronounce and so do many others
ha! I'm surprised this is the first time...Thank You!
Potato potarto tomato tomarto
HELLO I MADE YOUR CHIPS - I ADDED 1/8 TSP OF GARLIC POWDER , 1/8 TSP OF ONION POWDER & 1/2 TSP CHILLI POWDER - I ROLLED MINE WITH CORN FLOUR IT WAS VERY EASY AND DIDN'T STICK TO MY BOARD - THANKS FOR THE RECIPE GOD BLESS YOU AMEN!
Sounds great!
I worked maintenance at a place that made snack foods, Golden Flake, they made these, interesting to see how they make them, potato chip, cheese puffs and curls, corn chips on industrial level.
Oh, they taste SO much better fresh out of the cooker than out of the bag
no doubt!
Hi Toni - those tortilla chips look amazing
Thanks so much
Those really do 👀 look delicious!
Thank You!
Coool
Using the pasta machine 😄👍
I said, " That's my girl! She a head on her like a housecat." That was the greatest of praise my granny could give you when you did something that impressed her.
ah....one learns to make do with what is at hand...or not!!! I try! thank you!
You don't need that though. My friend does it with his hands
Fantastically done. From here where chips bought in packets costing out of the world, its better to make them at hime. But what kind of the yellowish looking corn flour are you using? Not the ones we use for thickening soups or liquids?
I just used a fine ground corn meal and have recently experimented with masa.
What no taste test for us. They do look delicious. I would have not thought to use the pasta maker to roller these out. Wonderful ! 😊😊
Thank You!
I was wondering the same. She never said if they were good.
I used homemade corn tortillas and cut them into triangles, briefly deep fried and my restaurant customers loved them.
awesome!
I have the pasta attachment for my kitchen aid that my son gave me but I’m yet to use it. Is it easy to use?
Very easy!
If you know how to do that, you can make empanadas with canned beef, pork, etc. My Costa Rican friend made me some from canned beef. You can add what you want.
I’m thinking you could run the dough through in a long rectangle like you’re making lasagne noodles then use a pizza cutter to cut them into triangles like Doritos
Yes you could!
I buy my Roma tomatoes at Loblaws , usually stocked by now, fingers crossed they get them in soon. I usually get 100 pounds for salsa
I wasn't aware that Loblaws sold tomatoes by the 50lbs..but it stands to reason that they would, I haven't seen any grocery stores with bulk stock yet.
Parts of Ottawa had floods.
Yes, I heard...real bad flooding...however PT is in BC on holiday...likely ignoring the whole thing!
@@HerHomesteadSkills oh I’m sure that’s what he does best ! 😡
What machine are you using?
ah...I had to double check as I have since purchased a tortilla press...I was using my kitchen aid mixer with the pasta press attachment.
Beautiful, Toni, the doctor say that conala oils are bad for our bodies, especially our heart.
Yup! Agreed.
Beautiful Roma's!
I think so too!
Will sunflower oil work? It’s a great frying oil
It should
How did they taste?
good, like homemade!
What's the name of the machine you using
It's a pasta press, but I have since picked up a tortilla press.
add garlic cilantro or parsley and a dash of salt to your salsa too
Yup..
Five minutes in before she starts actually making the tortillas
Ok thanks
So does that mean there is an electric tortilla pres
No!
@@HerHomesteadSkills where can I get one like yours
I just buy the maise(corn flour,) it's 😋🤤. The big bag. This girl can't eat gluten. Plus I have a handy dandy wooden tortilla press.
Sounds great!
Tor-tee-ya
I’m exhausted just watching you !!
Those look yummy...I'd prefer the more crispy ones you did 1st.
Me too!
I was waiting on a taste test. Normally, you have to use masa to make these. I've never seen it done with corn meal.
ah, I thought they were good, when Mark came home I offered them to him, he thought they were great!
Ugh. Were they crunchy? Did you like them? Would you make it again?
yes, yes, yes..
Why not put salt in the dough? Say Tor-tee-yas. ❤
One could!
Here for the recipe, then you discuss the weather. I left before watching further.
OK!
Fabulous video although pronounced Tor ti ya
Tor tea yuh...not ....tor tilla
Tortilla is pronounced -- Tor-tea-ya. The two L s are pronounced like a letter y
Thank You!
There is nothing more irritating than to click on a video to get the information stated in the (title), and then have to (listen) to a bunch of crap, that has (absolutely nothing) to do with the VIDEO!!!
This is great! Thank you so much I was looking for a recipe from scratch. I'm glad that I can use my manual pasta maker.
Glad it was helpful!
