@@DrAlexGeorge Hi Alex .
I have had a stressful week and horrible friend ( now ) she is making me jealous and feeing rubbish mood I am !!
And she is basically pushing her best friend away .Just because she with her relationship?
Any help Alex â€â€
Btw your amazing
Dr George. PLEASE CONTACT ME. URGENT
Well done, 1 year sober here. In regards to mental health stopping drinking has improved my mental health beyond belief.
proud of everyone on the sober journey. iâve never drank alcohol and never been interested, helps that iâm Muslim and itâs discouraged in our faith- due to all the reasons Alex and so many in the comments have said they found as negatives.
i often feel quite sad when iâve been around others who are drunk or hungover and see them be not their best self or the way their body language and anxiety changes. itâs sad because i wish they could see themselves and know thereâs so many other ways to be social, be happy, be confident and have fun without alcohol.
iâm 28 and have had amazing moments and experiences without the help of alcohol (despite having other barriers like mental health and health conditions) and thatâs not because iâm any better or special- itâs just because it IS POSSIBLE. so possible.
please donât let societyâs obsession with alcohol make you feel like you have to partake- you donât. itâs not legal because itâs good for you, itâs legal because itâs lines the pockets of many who do not care about you.

What an amazing message, thank you so much đ
New subscriber here. Thank you for sharing your journey Alex. Iâm on day 6 and Iâll admit itâs hard. Iâve been drinking heavily for last 12 months due to work stress and made the decision to go sober. I want 2023 to be a better year and I know that drinking isnât the answer to coping with my stress. At the moment I find myself in floods of tears everyday for absolutely no reason, Iâm hoping that will pass! I started doing a puzzle on New Yearâs Eve and thatâs massively helping with the âwine witchâ which inevitably appears everyday at 5pm! I just keep visualising how good Iâm going to feel in 3 months time. Good luck on your sober journey!
Hey Sarah! Obviously each of our experiences are different and from different starting points, but I would say that referring of where you start from, the end point will be amazing. As you start to feel the benefits you are going to feel so much better â€
đđđ keep going đđđ
Iâm on day 9
I was in a similar situation Iâve just passed my 2 yr mark it does get easier and you will feel better đ keep going never look back đđ
Iâm still going on day 19. Itâs getting easier! I was just sitting here thinking about the people that commented on my post here when I started. đ
yaay, congrats! you motivated me to start the journey I've been thinking about for quite some time. as a result, I had my first sober NYE party after 10 years đ 7 days and counting! thank you for the encouragement.
Thats so awesome!! Good on you! We got this đ
Just found your channel today and I think all your content is spot on! I like you have been sober curious for around a year, read all the quit lit and had my last drink on 29th Dec, excited for the journey ahead! Well Done Alex
Thatâs awesome Clare đ welcome :)
Love this - inspiring! â€ïž
Iâm 6 days sober! đPeople are asking if this decision is for good, I donât know the answer to that but I liked your responseâIâll be sober for as long as it serves meâ. Iâm hoping itâll improve my relationships with those closest to me. Thank you for the inspiring content đ
Thank you for your message Samantha, congratulations on six days! đ
You are so inspirational. I went T total in September as well as gluten free for health reasons and do not miss it. I also have ADHD and Dyspraxia which I have struggled with since I was little. Think it was activated due to an operation I had at 4 years old. Love the awareness you are giving of everything you are dealing with to help others. Your brother would be so proud. â€
Thank you so much and thatâs awesome xx
My daughter was diagnosed with dyspraxia at university...I never noticed any signs when she was growing up..she was academic etc...I felt awful....
@@teres469 Sorry to hear this. It affects everyone so differently that it can be hard to spot so try not be too hard on yourself. Hope she is doing ok đ

Brilliant video congratulations on being sober for 30 days Alex â€đ
Thanks Kelly!
Great video Doc! Answers a lot of my own questions. Can relate to a lot of what you said as well myself having managed to get through the festive period sober đȘ
Thanks Thomas! You got this đȘđŒ
Yes Dr Alex! I was sober for 2 months recently, had my first drink for my birthday
You were much better than Love Island that show doesnât deserve a guy like yourself
Love this, I've not drank in over 3 years and I love how fresh I feel, lots of people try snd make me for some reason but I can still get funny ''drunk'' on atmosphere with no alcohol at all so I'm not missing anything!
That's amazing Hayley, you've got this! đ
Another fantastic video. Congratulations on 30 days sober. đ I am going on 18 months sober. I particularly loved how you mentioned dating. I have found that when I go on a date, my date is very considerate and won't drink. I can go out with friends who drink and I'm fine not drinking. I will say that even though being 18 months sober I have been tempted but always go and do something else for 5 to minutes and then the urge is gone. Congratulations again, you're an inspiration to many. đ
Congratulations!! So awesome xx
Loved this so much! I started around a similar time (40 days tomorrow!) being 20 it was scary but itâs definitely changed my perspective you donât need it to enjoy! Iâd love to make a video like this one day.
Thank you and congratulations đđ
I love your taking
A big well done Iâve just completed 31 days myself today what an amazing difference it is quitting alcohol Iâm a bit older than you but I agree with everything youâre saying itâs nice to hear your story and how close it compares to my own experience of alcohol thank you for sharing well done đđđđ
thank you for your message, and congratulations on 31 days! đđ
Well done Dr Alex, Iâm 42 and Iâve been sober since 25, I was only ever a social drinker but I donât miss it at all, I never have really and Iâm the favourite of my friends as Iâm the designated driver đ good luck with your journey đ

Hi Alex, I live with my family in Greece. The culture here is to enjoy good food and wine but not to get drunk. Good conversations between friends and enjoy the philosophy of life to the full without alcohol being a priority in society. Thank you for discussing this topic. All the best in your journey. â€
(Same in France, lots of food as well as the wine)
Thank you đ
Great Q and A đ

Great vid Alex. Im off it, its been burning me up and Ive been ignoring this too long and it steadily got worse the last 2 years. The past week I havent missed it...Ive rediscovered sleep and I cant wait to keep going ...and i cant believe im saying this!!!

Really enjoyed this video. I'm not a big drinker and am thinking of doing the same. Happy new year both!đ
Go for it :) thank you!
4 years for me keep up the good work it's worth it
Four years is amazing!đ
Hi Alex, I think I am at the same place as you and totally related to your previous post, actually felt quite emotional hearing everything. I am doing Dry Jan, so on day 10, so Woo hoo for me, but am quietly hoping to do Dry 2023. I am suffering from agoraphobia/panic disorder and that is another reason why I think stopping drinking will help me focus on my mental health more. I am also into fitness, so hate wasting a moment of my own time. I am also trying more things out of my comfort zone. Looking forward to following your tips. đ
This all sounds amazing Maxine, you've got this! †congratulations on 10 days
I've just hit my 2 year anniversary on Christmas eve and I'll probably never drink again. I stopped drinking to challenge myself and honestly found it so easy. Good luck to anyone starting out on their journey.
So awesome đ
@@DrAlexGeorge thanks. Good luck on your journey!!
I feel like I have the best of both. Quite often Iâll have a couple of beers at home on the weekend, but itâs very rare I go out and get drunk, so I can enjoy having a drink but still do things I wanna do
Absolutely! And if I do drink again its this kind of balance I would want. Thats If of course :) thanks for watching!
@@DrAlexGeorge Yeah exactly. I love the feeling of waking up sober. Well done on reaching the 30 days and best of luck on your journey! đ
Just passed my 2 yr mark (30th December) after being a heavy drinker not been easy but feel so much better especially in the mornings no more guilty feelings of how much I had drunk the night before plus my wife is so much happier đđ

Not sure who needs to read this but Iâve tried and failed to stop drinking at least ten times before and Iâve recently read Allen Carrâs book (not the comedian) and it totally changed my view of alcohol.
To summarise the book itâs far easier to quit if you donât rely on willpower and instead remove your desire to drink alcohol which the book does by removing every illusion that alcohol is positive in any way.
originally committed to dry jan but now considering full sobriety. thank you for these videos, theyâre very helpful esp as Iâm a uni student trying to navigate that situation!!
Hey Harry! Go with what you feel and donât put pressure on yourself. I just focus on the day im in if that makes sense x
@@DrAlexGeorge of course! one of my friends who has been sober for 2 years now said treat it like baby steps - even if youâve made it 2 days thatâs a big achievement, and a day after that is even better. if you set a huge goal youâre more likely to feel worse about failing x

3 months without booze, and I can't imagine ever wanting to drink alcohol again. The benefits faaaaaaaaar outweigh any disadvantage. Healthy mind, healthy body.

Well done Alex that's brilliant I'm doing dry January well till my hubby's birthday 29th..

i hope u do a documentary about being sober and quitting alcohol i ave just thought of it nw for an idea for u if u want to do a documentary
How do you manage at events such as weddings when surrounded by mostly everyone else who is drinking? I think that'd be the hardest part for me, when on a night where everyone else is drinking after an hour or two then not wanting to be around others who are drunk.

Alex youâre my dream man haha
đ
The lockdown was a blessing in some ways. Been sober now for almost 3.5 years. Alcohol is perfectly packaged poison and I do not understand why it is still legal??
Quitting alcohol is only hard if you believe alcohol offers a benefit and you feel like youâre giving something up. Once you realise that you stand everything to gain and nothing to lose then itâs easy and youâll never feel deprived again
How is the piano going? â€
I just wondered if you have lost weight from a month off alcohol ?
I'm a wi bit like Sarah who commented previously.. I'm only few days in. I'm doing it to be healthier and to lose weight.
Also thank you Dr.Alex for showing your pill. I suffer with depression and truth .... no 1 cares. I think Ireland is still in the stone age.
Anyways thank you for making it not a stigma. X
Hey! Firstly, congratulations on your decision đ each day at a time :) celebrate the small wins. And weight wise yes definitely have, I donât weight myself but I do notice. Thanks for supporting #postyourpill x
Hi Dr Alex .And hello every one else.
Has any one noticed when your feeling down or stressed most ppls advice is oh get ya self a drink ? Pier pressure is a difficult one ..! Stay strong keep safe .x
Peer pressure is incredibly difficult but you have to stay strong! Maybe they are not the right people to be around!
@@DrAlexGeorge .Thanks đ your so right.đŻ.đx
I think more bars nightclub etc need less pressure on alcohol because when you ask for non alcohol things the staff say really and you get the look and the price is ridiculous..
I don't have ADHD, but have slept amazingly since investing in a weighted blanket
oh I might have a look into that, thank you! đ
Turns out I lacked in knowledge about adhd 7 months ago. Now everything makes sense #adhdclubđ Still in favour of a weighted blanket though!
I do think youâll probably drink again. It often takes a few periods of sobriety to understand itâs dangers. I went sober for 6 months then convinced myself I could âmoderateâ. For a while I did very well but slowly got complacent and got drunk again. My mental health was slipping again. If you ever realise you canât control alcohol then youâll never ever be able to. I think that only a small percentage of people manage alcohol properly. Most people have some level of addiction. Even that working person who âneedsâ a glass of wine to relax after work. Youâre essentially using a drug to manage your emotion. Or that person who needs to drink to socialise. Good luck with your journey.
I havenât had a drink now for 6month and donât think I drink again đź
that's amazing, congratulations!
I could not fill a small beaker with all the alcohol I have drunk in my whole life, all of the alcohol I have consumed has come from meals made using a small amount of wine or a brandy in the Christmas pudding. Forgive me for not understanding fully. I don't meet many people like myself in relation to never a drinker. I do however get asked to 'try' alcohol, or to have a sip, I start by saying no, this can move forward to telling them to go and **** themselves. Well done in getting off the booze. My problem is cake, especially carrot cake with thick lemon butter icing. đ
Yo nunca e tomoda likor,
No alcohol for you my ladddd.
yes, that's how it works
personal question, but i guess this channel is personal, are you worried coming of anti depressants as its such a big thing?

I've got to partially and subjectively disagree on dating. I think the relaxing effect if you are nervous or have anxiety actually brings out the best version of yourself. The sober and talking to a new person version of me is absolute shite, far away from engaged or energised. With a few drinks, much better. Secondly, drinking uninhibits you. So if you're a twat, it shows. For example, I saw a drunk group get off the train recently who kicked a cat twice as it walked past them. Would they have done that sober? No, they would have been presenting the "best version of themselves". Seeing someone drunk, angry, not getting their way are great tests of character.
Alax, try keeping your hands behind your back....I bet you wouldn't be able to talk.xx
Alex, I live in the USA and I would like for you to contact me. Please.
