I believe this anime would've had good potential if it were more based on the original manga instead of starting and ending right in the middle. I agree about the voice acting which is why I find the Japanese/english subtitled version or the UK dub easier to watch....and yes. I am a Clamp fan and Rg Veda is one of my favorite mangas. The artwork is gorgeous, you find so much more about the characters and their histories, there's much more emotion and the story itself is sad, but very exciting at the same time. It kept me interested and still does. This is why I can appreciate the works of Clamp. Personally, I think their way of story telling is really beautiful. Just thought I'd throw it out there. :)
I do like that Sage acknowledges that the fault comes in the anime ADAPTATION into a shortened OVA format (and a lazy one at that) rather than the story itself in manga or the story in and of itself. As a CLAMP fan, even with all the CLAMP cliches and foibles, all I can say is thanks, Sage!

for those who want to know more about RG Veda SPOILERS AHEAD: 'Misty' has no gender, Darth Bishie is actually a good guy who was in love with Misty's dad Ashura-o and would do anything for him, and Ashura-o was like ok you can sleep with me but you got to kill the king and then kill me and then eat my remains afterwards to stop a prophecy where my child will destroy everything from happening and Darth Bishie was cool with that, the prophecy more or less happened anyway, and everyone died Shakespeare style except for I guess Misty and Broody who love each other in that ambiguous but intense CLAMP way.

I don't know if they really thought they could redeem Taishakuten or they were just bored, but yeah, that whole "force a sick little girl to sing until she dies" kind of makes it impossible to say "He's actually a good guy" after. To be fair, good writing was never CLAMP's forte.
The dub used here is interesting as the one from when I watched this years ago had a very British sounding voice cast. Made the majority of the cast sound much more regal and dignified, it's hard to explain, but overall it felt better than this to my recollection. Back then though, I swear I thought I was missing episodes before and after what was shown here because everything begins and ends so damn abruptly.
