    Porsche Cayman. There are cars that are faster, pricier and more aggressive looking than the Porsche Cayman. But in strictly aesthetic terms few cars match the sheer desirability of the Cayman's seductive shape. Essentially a fixed-roof version of the Porsche Boxster, the Cayman transcends its roots to become something distinct from and perhaps even better than the car from which it was derived.
    Before the Cayman came on the scene, the only coupe offered by Porsche was the much more expensive 911. Combining a more accessible price with enough comfort and practicality to serve as daily transportation, the Cayman also delivers all the driving excitement enthusiasts have come to expect from a Porsche.

    I have an S version of the Cayman and I have also owned 7 Corvettes over the years. I love the Cayman for the pure driving joy it provides. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I paid what I believe to be a fair price and have loved every minute of my ownership.

    I've owned my 06 Cayman S for 8 months now and I love it! Sure there's faster cars...but there's nothing out there that handles like this car except maybe a newer Lotus. Others cars I considered before buying my Cayman... C6 Corvette, 335i BMW, Maserati Coupe', and the b6 Audi S4. In the end I decided to keep my 01 Audi A6 2.7t six speed instead of replacing it and purchased my Cayman finally have a true mid engine sport car. Btw, I've owned two 911s in the past, the Cayman is awesome!

    @BARCACROSSESTHEALPS i like your way of thinking; people are always obsessed with how fast their cars will go in a straight line, but it takes actual skill to proficiently maneuver a corner. and to those kinds of straight line obsessed people," the world is not a straight line."

    Good point. Numbers are just numbers. The experience is 99% of it. All I'm saying is that big engines really impress people like me. I'd be wowed by a 600hp V12 as opposed to a 300hp V6, but you are right. If I was to actually drive one of the cars, the V6 has a good chance of impressing me more than the bigass V12.

    porsche is nice and worth the money, if you can afford to buy one. Life is short enjoy it. If you feel that a porsche is a waste of money then I can say an audi is a waste of money and you should have bought a VW like me.

  • @youmils03swagger
    @youmils03swagger Před 15 lety

    that's true
    but the 911 gt2's price needs to go down about $45,000. does it have a navigation system w/voice recognition? massaging seats? cooled seats? night vision? i didn't think so.
    i think i might rather have a mercedes-benz sl65 amg. it is significantly slower, though significantly more powerful, WAY more luxurious, and 6 more cylinders!!

    Luxury doesn't add very much weight, at all, to a car. Even if it did, the performance might change, but not necessarily in a negative way. For example, the BMW M5 is much heavier than the Lotus Elise. Is the M5 a great performance car? Absolutely! It gets from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds, and it has a 500hp V10. The Elise is lighter, which therefore implies a smaller engine. It gets from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds but has way less than 500hp (I'm not certain of the exact number).

  • @ramrambatti
    @ramrambatti Před 15 lety

    Your talk is based on the specification on the paper, but not on the actual driving experience. Just you say anything, please drive light weight sports car in 70s. They do not have fancy engines, but they are so fun to drive due to their light weight. Lotus engineers would definitely understand the simple physics while they continue to make light weight cars. They were inspired by Mazda Miata. (I own MIata, RX8 and S2000.) The cars are to heavy nowadays due to safety issues, etc.

  • @youmils03swagger
    @youmils03swagger Před 15 lety

    The M5 might not be the best turner, but the M5 generally has exceptional handling, ride quality, luxury (standard nav system w/voice recognition, premium sound system, heated and cooled front seats, etc. etc. etc.), acceleration, and figures (HP and torque). Can you really compete with a 500hp 5.0 liter V10? But you can fuck the E63. It's even more expensive, and it just has a silly little V8.

    so weird how hard reality hit the car community convertible was the definition of a sports car and now for a car to be a sports car it has to be fast or loud or both (ev is ev not car fuck ev) and for it to be fast a hard top is needed bc convertible top aero is mid and with it down its even worse

  • @marshknute

    Everyone who reviews the Cayman suggests that buyers buy a Lotus Evora instead. The Porsche is better designed, better built, and faster, but it has no personality. The Lotus is rarer, better looking, and more nimble. You can't drive quickly on public roads, but you can choose not to slow down for the corners. In that case, I think anyone could agree that they'd rather have the slightly more nimble Evora. I wouldn't blame anyone for buying the Porsche, but I still recommend the Lotus

    I am literally stunned that a review has highlighted the LOOKS of a cayman as the MAIN desirability. I mean, this car always appealed to me as the greatest sports car ever along side with the Ariel Atom. Not the looks. Although they aren't bad at all and Don't get me wrong I LOVE the looks but i just don't think its THAT good like an Alfa or an aston.

    no. i own a 2007 audi a6 which i absolutely LOVE.
    you can pay $50,000 for the cayman which gets from 0-60mph in 5.8 seconds or $45,000 for the audi tt CONVERTIBLE which has more standard features and gets from 0-60mph in 5.2 seconds
    the cayman is a waste of money. i'd much rather have an audi tt or mercedes slk.
    i'm annoyed with porsche engines. the 911 gt2 sits under $200,000 though it has six cylinders! i can get a $150,000 benz with twelve cylinders with a ton of standard features!!

    I am very surprized many people have the same opinion as you do. You can never compare Lotus with BMW. You do not understand what LIGHT WEIGHT CAN DO in sports car at all. Even just 25kg of additional weight, car can show totally diferrent moves. In extreme opinion, it does not matter what sort of engine the car has as long as the car is very light. Just drive Caterham super 7. (Or Lotus Elise) The car can provide so much world BMW can never provide. It is because of the light weight.

    I'm not saying audi is bad, its not I would rather have an Audi over a M-B. What I was saying is that Porsches are not a waste of money because thats like saying an Audi is a waste of money and that we all should all drive VW Golfs/Rabbits. Anyways, a Porsche Turbo will kill any M-B, and the GT2 is just overkill. The GT2 is like a nuclear weapon.

  • @youmils03swagger

    Lotuses may be very fast and sexy-looking, but it's weak as fuck. It's SO tiny (so that a father/husband wouldn't be able to share it with his wife and two kids all at the same time) (and very limited legroom), weak (very little power for a sports car), and not luxurious whatsoever (standard features: power windows, power door locks, air conditioning, done). It's a sports car, but that's the only thing it's good at. The M5 has luxury, roominess, POWER, and CYLINDERS.....
