As somebody who didn't really care too much for Season 1, I have already seen EACH scene of Kathony at least 20 times. Like what the actual f*ck? It's been several years since I have been so obsessed with a couple.
Now you know how I felt watching this season for the first time thinking I was just going through the motions of watching another new release to review like it was going to be "business as usual" only to have them take over my days and now I have several more videos on my to-do list just talking about this season. 😭😂

But sadly, a lot of gay performers have been pressured to stay closeted in the industry. The fact that even Jonathan has experienced it was alarming to read because of how young he is. I'm glad he's succeeding, though, and I'm glad his season and his performance are such a hit. ❤️❤️❤️

I binged watched the season in one day, and when I say my blood pressure was at an alarmingly high rate, that's only the tip of the iceberg. Jonathan Bailey had me wanting to be a gay man, so bad. I was like what does it take to have this man, I will do it. NOT ONLY THAT SIMONE ASHLEY WAS I C O N I CCCCC. My favorite part, without a doubt, has to be the fact that she is so strong and amazing on her own that Anthony is simply like a compliment. Like hi yes I'm the strongest, most fearless, competitive woman you'll meet and here's my hot husband... did I mention he's a viscount? UGHRJGHJHSDF this season had me gripping the walls every 5 minutes.

I'm glad you brought up Kate's accent because I just watched the first episode and was confused why she went back and forth between a posh British accent vs. a British/Indian mixed accent. The British/Indian mixed accent came out more when she was with Edwina, so I had a feeling it was a deliberate choice.
Before they finally kiss…Kate stops code switching. She’s Kathani in that moment. She is so comfortable in his presence that she is her full self.
Their chemistry was absolutely insane.
This is embarrassing, this 67 year-old woman has watched Season 2 at least 10 times. (I do skip all non KAnthony scenes.) I'm watching it again right now, obsessed!
The Internet has so much toxicity that when the notification popped up previewing your comment came up and all I saw was "This is embarrassing," I immediately assumed it was someone leaving a mean comment. 😆
Anyway, nothing wrong with you rewatching the show and enjoying the romance! The cast and crew didn't put all that work in for people to forget what they made! 😂❤️✨

I am happy to hear the show toned down Anthony’s aggressive chauvinism with Kate. Those moments in the book were always uncomfortable to read

@@LadyJenevia Like you, I understand it was a product of the time. I still found it uncomfortable to read. But I am glad the show realized that behavior wasn’t the product of our time. It would have been regressive to his character if show Anthony acted like book Anthony after Daphne educated him in S1.
Yeah, I loved all of their stuff together. Their chemistry is absolutely unreal. Lighting-in-a-bottle tier stuff to have found Simone who is not only great in her own right but also the way she and Jonathan are together is just 🗣🗣🗣

As the oldest sibling myself, I relate way too much with these two characters. The whole time I was getting hurt by their responsibility feeling, while I was rooting for them.
As a British South Asian, I’m not surprised that the Bridgerton writers (some of whom were also south Asian) played the sexual angst between Kanthony to the max. Bollywood and south Asian stories are very good at doing that. Unlike western stories, south Asian ones like to have that tension between the protagonists because it does make for good viewing and good story telling. You get to learn more about the characters through that tension. Thank you for your review 😁
I've heard people say that before about! I've wondered what lead to this industry to use that storytelling style but usually when I see Bollywood things, it's just clips of musical numbers so I really wouldn't know. 😆✨

I am a big Bollywood fan. Those movie storylines are so emotional they pull at your heart and make you cry. I even have some of my favorite movies in DVD. The settings are so beautiful and the people so beautiful. I think that the regency genre plays very well with that culture because it is so close to their culture, like arranged marriages and the women's roles of the time. I am looking so forward to seeing a little of the Indian culture play out in series two with Kate and her family. It only adds to the story. I love it.
This is super interesting. I wonder if Bridgerton will have other Bollywood elements to season 2. I would love that!

This was a great season! I don't understand the mixed reviews. It's a different Love Story than Season 1. It's honestly, more relatable and raw! As an older siblings, I totally related to alot of issues and pressures both Anthony and Kate felt. Ohh and can we talk about Eloise! I was slightly annoyed with her in Season 1, yet I loved her. However, she became one of my favorites! Benedict and Eloise sibling relationship is totally precious! Just like Anthony and Daphanie's sibling relationship. Loved this Season!
100%! I was not expecting anyone to nitpick things about their love story when the embargo lifted because as you can see, I was just full of praise! 😂
😆😆😆 It's cause the writing was good! People have to lower their expectations. Every love story drives on a different love language. As the season went on, there was also alot of character development on characters that didn't get much time in Season 1. Huge example is Collin.
Personally, I didn't like how much of a slow burn Kate and Anthony's romance was. A little bit was fine, but by Episode 7 I was really over it. Then when she said in Episode 8 Kate said that he didn't love her, I was like "are you effing kidding me? Are we still doing this"? It felt like too much building and they pay off wasn't even that great because we didn't even get to see their wedding.
Kate snatched his soul. If you ask me, it's supernatural.
Much better season! Just my preference. But also Jonathan Bailey is fire! Same as Matt Bomer and Luke Evans! Out and proud and able to burn up the screen as a romantic lead

Matt Bomer has made a huge impression on me since Tru Confessions and I am nothing but proud of him for being who he is, he is a great actor and I personally find him beautiful to look at :)
The constant, *epic* eye-fucking between Anthony and Kate was soooooo good.
After watching Bridgerton season2, I watched some of my favorite Bollywood movies and realized that there were a lot of similarities plot wise or just tropes found in those movies; it was fun to watch. I loved it. Anthony and Kate this season were the ultimate slow burn of all slow burns I've seen so far. Their chemistry was off the charts.
I am so late to the party because I just watched but yesss I noticed so many similarities! The biggest being the scene during the wedding when Kate drops her bangle and Anthony goes to pick it up and their eyes meet!! It was really giving srk and Kajol in K3G when her bracelet gets caught on him and their eyes met. I still melt at the twinkle in srk’s eyes 😭
I loved it overall but I just think the whole almost-wedding episode was a lil too much? Like I get the irony of calling a drama show too dramatic but I genuinely think it just didn't add to the story and bored me tf out.
Other than that, the sexual tension, the sizzling eye contact and the banter was ON POINT. After season 1, I was expecting a lot more ahem *sex* scenes but I think it was a good decision on their part to stick to fleshing out the characters more.
I REALLY want next season to be Benedict's, I love him so much.

Kate and Anthony's strong characters, their parallel familial responsibilities, the sexual tension when touching hands, the drawn out eye contact and the fact that they were attracted to each other like magnets... I love Season 2 so much.

While season 1 dealt with touch/sex as a mode of intimacy, this season deals with it via extra hot eye contact and hand touches.

I can see that but I also think the wedding served to show just how much Anthony cared about Kate. She asked him to marry Edwina and he was going to do it despite his own feelings.
They captured so well that sexual tension between Kate and Anthony. I was so invested in their story 🤩

Im not allergic to bees, but I have several other severe allergies. I carry an epi pen 24/7 because I never know 100% if I might get exposed. I cried during the scene with the bees because I knew right away if he was allergic and got stung he was done for. To imagine how an epi pen would have saved his life but of course they didn’t have them back then

I watched the entire season in one night and I absolutely love and adore Kate and Anthony their story is so powerful and beautiful. The BEE scene OMG, that was one of the most intense and deep love scenes that I’ve ever watched in my entire LIFE. Their chemistry and love is so big that I almost call the firefighters because all the scenes and my screen were on fire 🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Welp just finished and my goodness. I'm gonna go take a shower, eat some food and then watch it again. What the fuck was that? Of course you were feral!!!! They were so feral. Literally couldn't be in the same area without devolving into literal animals. You didn't even talk about the breathing. They were just started panting around each. They fact that they were able to get away with that long is just nuts. I mean Edwina said it herself.
Okay so please tell me that your favorite hand stuff scene was in episode seven. Because them holding hands while he was *pleasuring* sent me to moon. Like who did that? Why would you do that? I demand to know the person or persons responsible. They need to answer for their crimes.
And maybe book fans will be annoyed about how the plot changed, and that might be because they have no taste. No shade🤷🏿♀🤷🏿♀ But this is leagues better though.

I don't know if I really have one favourite hand scene because they're all exquisite and the fact that there is so much of it to see is also what makes it so powerful. I'm in love with Anthony. He stole my heart. He was able to sit me down and say "I know I was such an arse in S1, but if you give me a chance I'll win your heart". I agree that Jonathan is more than capable of portraying a cis male lead. There are a few actors who can pull this off. Not all can. Luke Macfarlane is a favorite. I can add Jonathan to the list.
I didn’t like Anthony in season one, he was an overbearing hothead and caused problems for the family and especially Daphne. Was so glad when Siena told him “You are lost” and dropped him down a few pegs. I knew he had potential when his response was “You’re right.” And so I had a little bit of hope for him…
It actually took me awhile to give Season two a watch because I wasn’t sure I could invest in Anthony. I was, in fact, a hasty bitch. Season 2 gave me so many reasons to ADORE THIS MAN. The surprise I felt as I discovered not only is Anthony lowkey charming, hilarious and witty but actually a fascinating complex person who was repressing his very soft heart’s ability for positive emotional growth for MANY years. I mean I cried several times and still cry. This season’s romance is great writing and great acting that really moved me to my core, I can’t wait to see more of Anthony and Kate in later seasons. I fear nothing can top this couple, Jonathan and Simone are absolute legends.
omg when you said the show is more intense than the book i actually wanted to jump in glee. I am also relieved my most hated scene in tvwlm did not make it to the show. Can’t wait to swoon over the emotional edging and the handstuff scenes!!

@@LadyJenevia Where he goes to court Edwina and she is out with Lord Berbrooke,(lord help us all) so he and Kate walk the dog. All is well until the lake scene and he get so angry he is so mean and blames Kate for the whole falling in the lake because of the dog. He does end up taking Edwina home and leaves Kate in the park. Maybe the boat scene is the substitute for that one.
Even though there were a lot of changes from the books, for the most part I understood why they were done and didn't mind them but the love triangle was taken way too far. Edwina ended up being written to be a fool which is such a shame, because in the books she was ("surprisingly") very intelligent and observant - that was a huge huge disappointment for me. More banter, less 'drama' please Shonda!
But oh my days, Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley played the hell out of their roles. The chemistry, the long looks and the way they spoke - I WANT MORE. FUTURE SEASON CAMEOS PLS MAKE IT HAPPEN
PS. slightly disappointed they switched up Colin's "I would never court Penelope" scene because the book version where she responds HAD ME HEARTBROKEN.
Did she come off as a fool? I thought she simply came across as a very young, naive and smitten-ed girl. Infatuation can make you blind about that person's faults or what's happening around you. The last person Edwina would expect to look out for was her sister. So even if she may have even seen some of the signs she probably immediately dismissed it because it's her sister. Personally, she just seems like a normal, trusting girl who relied on her support system and would never think negative of that support system. It took her fiance doing that staring thing during the wedding for her to become clued in AND THEN she caught her sister's feelings.
The wedding and the aftermath of it gave Edwina a lot of much needed character growth. It also brought her and Kate closer together because Kate can be 100% honest with her now and really confide in her in every way a sister should. If they ended the show with Edwina staying mad at her it would have made me sad.
I agree that they took the love triangle too far. It should’ve been resolved by the third or fourth episode so that the main couple could’ve had more time together.
The actors have such great chemistry yet we barely saw them happy together onscreen.
The drama outweighed the romance for too long which made the final resolution unsatisfying for me.
Shonda shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that these stories are romances. There needs to be a good balance between the conflict & the happily ever after. She’s very fond of making viewers fall in love with a character before ruining them or a couple before putting every barrier imaginable between them till the “ship” is ruined. Examples that readily come to mind are Olitz in Scandal, countless couples in Grey’s Anatomy & the royal couple in Queen Charlotte. Yes, the king was “mad” but it didn’t get severe till a bit later in his life. She couldn’t even give them a few happy years 1st.
She also ruined Lady Danbury’s back story by making her a distant mother when she was so loving towards young Simon in season 1. Then subjecting her to marital rape by that minstrel caricature of a husband was cruel & unnecessary. It’s also baffling how she fell in love with the married middle aged neighbour and rejected the strapping young & single Prince Adolfus. I’m still very upset about that.
I've officially taken a day off work to binge this show when it drops on Friday. I also did a rewatch of S1 this weekend so your advice to have the past plot points fresh in anticipation of S2 is kinda fortuitous. As for Jonathan Bailey, I've been screaming at all the sneak peeks for weeks. His acting is IMMACULATE and the chemistry between him and Simone is **chefs kiss**!
He is brilliant in this season and so is she! I'd love for them to still be around in season 3 but if one or both of them gets swarmed with job offers that prevent that I can't even be mad because they will have earned those offers! 🔥
@@LadyJenevia In the books Kate continues to make cameo appearances as the strong woman she is. Often to help one of the siblings. I can easily see her character stepping up to be the matriarch when Violet is no longer around. YOU HAVE SAID LITERALLY EVERYTHING I WAS THINKING! Even down to The Wedding Date! This season made me lose my composure. I have never been so invested in seeing two people on a screen get together, and I adore romance movies/novels/shows/musicals. Feral is the correct word lol.
After this review, I immediately subscribed and plan on watching everything. I 100% agreed with your review. I like that you highlighted how Jonathan's sexuality had absolutely no impact on his being able to play an extremely attractive, convincing straight man. Because uh, sir was 🔥 and the way Anthony looked at Kate literally suspended time. Also agree that the show was very smart in how they portrayed Anthony and toned down his more toxic traits. This was a great review!

I love that the series gave Kate more agency, more fire and strength. I haven't read the books, but have read enough from others who have read the books to have noted that Kate Sharma is very different from the Kate Shepard source material. I am so happy for the change!

I, like you went in with zero expectations for this season. Having watched the first 3/4 episodes of the 1st season, i must admit i was so unimpressed. But here I am, three days later, love struck and unable to breathe. Wtf was that?sure, it has its own problems, they have this tendency to flout certain ideas and then they choose to completely ignore them, but like you rightfully pointed, this show is not about socio-political critique. This is a romance, more specifically, how a woman views romance. And boy, have they delivered in that aspect. Like you said, i had to literally skip certain parts, it was becoming increasingly difficult for me to watch them without having to lose my mind, given how intense they were. And Jonathan Bailey, omg, i used to get goosebumps everytime Anthony and Kate looked at each other, it's like the rest of the world didn't exist. They were drawn to each other like a moth to a flame.
I love that you kept mentioning the hand stuff throughout your video. I loved them all, but the one that struck me in particular was in the bee scene, when Kate gently places Anthony's hand over her heart and her thumb does this gentle stokes over his fingers. I was literally undone. Thank you so much for this video. May be you could make some more?

I saw the word "didi" used by Edwina in one clip, and thanks to another book where the female is Indian, I know that means "sister" or something to that effect. This video and the other one you made makes me happy to watch S2. Book 2 is my favorite from the series and I can now pretend I am just watching an interpretation. 😁
Also they say appa a lot in reference to their dad (appa means father in Tamil, so that checks out).

It was my favorite book in the series too and I have even read the spinoff books by Julia Quinn. I also want to know if the iconic bee scene is in the second season. I can't imagine how they could leave it out. It played a very important role and, for me, gave me even more sympathy for the character of Anthony and his fear of losing people.
Loved this season! Do not watch if you are not prepared to be hooked and watch all episodes until 6am the next morning 🔥🔥😩

guurl, this is the content I needed! after season 1 I started reading the books and I personally thought of season 1 waaayyy better than the book. about book 2, I thought it better than the first one, but I too had sum issues with the whole consent and gender role things. you're making me really hyped about season 2! got yourself a new follower for sure :)
While TVWLM is my fav book from the series, I’m not too worried about the show straying from the book’s plot, I don’t know if most people would agree, but I think what makes the book a fan fav is not necessarily the plot, but Kate and Anthony themselves and their dynamic with each other, and their growth individually and together. As long as that is there, I have no doubt I’ll love it!
And they ARE absolutely incredible as a couple in the show! 🔥🔥🔥

OF COURSE they're different! And different romances/couples can appeal to different people, and that's okay! (I personally, happen to prefer this couple but nothing wrong with preferring season one! It's all entertainment!) 🥰

Two words sprang to mind for me. Emotional rollercoaster. Will they? Won’t they? Just great romance. So much tension between Kate and Anthony. The scene I loved the most was Anthony walked through a room and Kate was standing there and he walked straight by. Hands nearly touching. I remember shouting at the television. “Just kiss the girl ya fool” that’s when I realised I was hooked on this romance. I know it’s a very small part of a fantastic story. But I still can’t stop watching it every time it gets me 🤔🇨🇮

TRULY those are the exact vibes I have whenever people get antagonistic towards Edwina or Marina. Doesn't matter how many times people try to say nasty things about them in my comments. I was there for the nightmare of Sleepy Hollow and watching all of the despicable treatment towards Nicole Beharie / Abbie Mills so absolutely no one will move me from my position of giving Edwina and Marina the respect they DESERVE! 😌🤷🏻♀️

I've actually made a deliberate choice now to not read any more of the upcoming books. I want to watch each season for the first time without the source material colouring my perspective, and then I can read the corresponding book after I've seen the season so I can compare and contrast. I like the model I used for season 2 so I can present a more well-rounded perspective of each adaptation. 😊📚
@@LadyJenevia I think that’s a wise decision indeed! I feel like it’s very easy to dismiss the show when you’re already emotionally invested in the source material. You’re often victim to being a purist which I’ve fallen pray to a number of times so now I also try to see adaptations as its own thing. But I get why some would be upset as they’re really looking forward to seeing a certain scene play out on screen. Again, thank you! You really made my day! Also, this is the first time in my life I’ve ever watched a 30 minute long review on anything, as I’m a very impatient person haha!
