Thanks Mike! Steep learning curve with the casting and “reeling” and fighting fish but nothin crazy after some time spent on the water. Still just getting it down but I’ll keep throwing tips out there along the way
A bit of advice is stay away from combos for the most part. Echo is definitely a quality product but go out get a rod in the weight you want then buy a reel to match. The piscifun reels are really a great product for the price.

Duuuudddeee...get you a boogle bug from Orvis, it's a micro popper. I usually fly fish on a 3 wt. for bluegills and every now and then I catch a bass. It's so much fun to watch the top water action.

I catch bass that are in downtown Austin barton Creek walking trail clear water tons of fish they will bite nothing NOTHING while people laugh at you they see people all day they get presented plastic all day never gonna bite...i got into fly fishing and slayed them all like it was pond fishing. Use right bug

Temple Fork Outfitters! I had the TFO TiCr model and it caught some monster carp and sockeye salmon. Unfortunately the rod fricken exploded while fighting a red salmon. The rods are designed by Gary Loomis, awesome. Get yourself a stripping basket to hold your line instead of carrying it.

Up north here fly fishing is a way of life man, I've spent $100 just on fly line. 100% worth getting nice fly gear though, the $40 combo just ain't it. If you want a real money sink start tying your own flies haha, super fun but having to buy all the materials gets super expensive. Also try looking into different fly casts, especially the roll cast for convenience when fishing short distances, (you don't have to take the line off the water), and the double haul for better distance.

Another banger w the fly fishing. You are almost as bad as me because when I went to get my 1st fly combo I walked in expecting to get the $40 combo and walked out w a Sage $600 combo... You picked a way better starting point. I have noticed here in DFW if nothing seems to be hitting just pull out the fly rod and you can always get some fish.
In one of the next videos we end up piecing together our most expensive combo yet 😅 so we are moving fast up the expense chain 💰! It’s definitely been fun getting bites on the ultra finesse baits when the usual bite is slow, that is for sure

CZcams has been like “hey you should watch these fly fishing videos” lately. I have moonshine spinning rods which doesn’t help either… so here I am looking at a combo before spring.

Fenwick makes great rods, pflueger makes great reels. I wouldn’t buy a pflueger rod or fenwick reel though. But I guess you learned that already 😅

I have 3 fenwick HMG rods and love them. Looks like though they quit making them. I was lucky on my 5 weight because they had it in the amazon warehouse so they had it discounted. Ended paying 11 dollars for it with the discount and 25 dollar gift that I had. Regular price was 149.99$. I love my piscifun sword 2 reels, for the price you can't beat them.
My combo is 90 bucks and that price point is awsome
