  • Callsign 66 sponsored two active Canadian Forces soldiers to share experiences, teach, and most importantly, learn. The pair of Canadian Soldiers found this week was less of a competition, and better used as an opportunity to ask questions, share knowledge and most importantly bring something new back to their teams.

    Worth repeating as it applies to any sort of organized competitive event.

    It always surprise me how simple the Canadian soldier/operator dialogue is, no bull**** like "we are here for (useless comments)", no it's : "if you never practice for something, you gonna suck at it"

    Hell yes
    People that get out and shoot all types of matches are Much more competent that Internet Warriors I’ll ever be.
    I shoot light rifle matches with guys ten to thirty years older than my self(45) and they would be killers defending their homesteads at mostly known distances type shots. However , what the precision rifle crowd is doing is so much more complex. Hats off Gents. đŸ‘đŸŒ

    The overuse of the "operator" title makes me cringe. A few conventional force snipers are not operators, nor do they or anyone around them think they are. The only people I see actively using that word are those trying to earn a dime. Give it a rest.

      +Oliver Krystal... Wtf are you talking about? Have to reread your comments over and over to try to understand what you are saying...."they refuse to give back to the community".... You saying there is a community of people giving them stuff expecting to get stuff back? What? ALSO this was in response of
      "Blurring distinctive tattoos would probably be prudent"?????????????????????????????????????
      WTF?............ SO since people watch their videos they need to give back to the community? And since they dont they need to be harmed? That right kid? Seeing that pic of yours shows me you try REALLY hard to make people think you are "cool".... You are fake and pathetic. Also dumb. Just reread everything you said to prove it. That easy. OR have someone that is not so pathetically dumb as yourself read it too you and explain how you are dumb. Might actually help you better yourself in life really. Tough love is tough love after all ;)

    What difference does active duty vs civilian make? Just show up to have fun

  • @jimothy-johnson
    @jimothy-johnson Pƙed 7 lety +1

    There's a reason that the people who win these matches and the PRS in general are civilians. It's because the military keeps heavily to doctrine whereas civilians have the room to adapt their methods and technology more quickly. If we leave fieldcraft out of it, I'd take David Preston over an active duty sniper any day as far as raw shooting ability.

    Must have been a bitch and a half getting those rifles over the border. The northern border that is. Southern border...not so much.
    Unless they used loaners.

    • @tripplewhipper
      @tripplewhipper Pƙed 7 lety

      F SM it's actually not that difficult from what I've heard from people that do it somewhat often, easier if anything to get your own rifles down south and back with you on a trip as opposed to getting one from the south up here as a purchase. Just have to make sure your paperwork is in order and that all is done ahead of time and with conjunction of the authorities. A good handful of Canadians go south to shoot competitive matches with their ar's and pistols which would be more high profile to my understanding than compared to a bolt action non restricted rifle, just my 2 cents and knowledge from others that have told stories about their ordeals crossing the border

    • @Llama212ify
      @Llama212ify Pƙed 7 lety

      tripplewhipper That's interesting. Wonder how much paperwork is involved.

    • @benson8686
      @benson8686 Pƙed 7 lety +2

      F SM not much. it's actually a bit harder to bring firearms south to the US simply because there's extra paperwork you need to get in order, coming back up north you just need the documents you would already have. Going south I need either a letter of invitation to a match or a hunting licence in one of the states. You might also need some form from the ATF, but I'm not really sure about that. Coming back up north I just need to declare to the customs official that I have a firearm if asked and show him my firearms license along with the registration certificate for any restricted firearms I'm carrying, all of which I need to carry with me if I'm transporting my firearms within Canada anyways. Basically there's no extra effort required to bring my firearms back home, but I need to get a few things in order to go south with them.
      Just to add to the confusion there's some regulatory differences. As an example, AR-15'S are all classified the same way in canada, so a lot of guys have 14.5" barrels, and even 10.5" barrels are pretty common, but in the US those are classified as SBR'S which have different requirements to own, making it an extra challenge to bring to a competition.
