    In an homage to the classic ’70s synth, Behringer’s Odyssey synthesizer boasts a dyad of FM-capable VCOs, a duophonic architecture, painstakingly re-created analog circuitry, and an effects arsenal of Klark Teknik-powered sound-shaping tools. A detailed, vintage-inspired interface provides direct, intuitive access to everything you need via hands-on control. Plus, an extensive I/O array accommodates MIDI, CV/Gate, variable-impedance outputs, an external audio input, and more, opening inspiring worlds of sonic possibilities. But how does it hold up to its iconic namesake predecessor? Daniel Fisher, Sweetwater’s premier synthesist, takes you on a VCO voyage to discover what Behringer’s cooked up with the Odyssey. I had one of the original Arp Odyssey synths back in the day. I bought the Behringer model earlier this year and pulled out all of the drawings I had for my old Odyssey presets and as an original Odyssey user, the Behringer redux is extremely true to the original with some extra perks. I am very happy.

      Do you still have any of the blank cutout patch sheets from the original? If so, do they fit this odyssey? The white version was my 1st synth. Sold the synth, but forgot the patch sheets.

      @@jjrusy7438 I never had any of those. I just made my own drawings on notebook paper.

    Got mine about 2 years ago and I'm still amazed at how deep the sound-crafting ability is on it. The EFX section really takes it to an even higher level. Best "mono"synth I ever bought, and I've had a few. Thanks, Behringer and Sweetwater!

    I used to do the edgar winter frankenstein thing. My band director got excerpts from 6 wives of Henry 8th(wakeman) for me to solo the odyssey. Saved my busrat money and bought it new in high school(the white version). My piano wizard pal would whip out 2-finger Bach and I worked the sliders which blew us all away. Good times. Also rocking the octave switch was fun.

    Bought one from Sweetwater back in November of 2019 and let me tell you this thing is mean and angry ina good way! Highly recommend it, solid construction and still rock solid no issues since I got it.

    Great demo of the Behringer Odyssey! Sounds awesome with the built-in FXI. I love the light show, too!

    I can’t play the piano, but I want one. I know I’d get something out it.

    I have noticed some don’t have the colorful lighting on videos I’ve watched . Why is that? I just bought one and haven’t opened it yet to see I hope they’re like yours and not all white like others I’ve seen on CZcams. Ty for the video .

    Ok but it is a false duophony, like the one you can make in an MS20 or in an ARP 2600 with cables, or like the monopoly that makes 4 notes with the same amplifier and filter.

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Hi inperfectsequence. I used the word "paraphonic" to describe the duophony in the intro because, like you wrote, the oscillators don't have separate amps and filters for each note. But, with paraphony, it's so musically useful to be able to move two notes independently, even if they share the same filtering and amp. -_Daniel_

    I had this synth for a year and a half it's a great reproduction but the reverb is useless and yes I know it's original but those rubber pitch benders are useless, would've kept it otherwise, needed polysynth ....... with good reverb.
