- What killed 63 penguins in South Africa? Conservationists needed to find out. When the penguins were found dead in their beach colony, the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds performed autopsies to get to the bottom of it. Upon closer look, their cause of death was relatively easy to find. Researchers say the penguins were all found to have been stung by bees. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.

This is NOT a case of “bad luck.” One penguin, maybe. 63 is impossible. The bees chose an attack. Why is the question for scientists. Thorough evaluations of the dead bees, as well as watching the behavior with cameras, should help. It is possible the bees have had a form of chemical induced “bee psychosis,” for example. That’s in quotes because I am making it up, not because it is a scientifically validated phenomenon. But you get the idea. Please search on for the cause.

You do have a point. Bees wouldn't randomly attack. There will always be a reason. Either their hive has been attacked, or something happened (scientifically) that caused them to be enraged or turned them psychotic to an extent?

That might not have worked, cause it has been seen that bees would wait above water for "their attacker" to come up to breath and would wait for hours just to do it
Penguins aren't very fast on land, so it's possible that the penguins simply couldn't make it/weren't close enough to the water.

Well, I would just go into the water and move farther down the beach, I’m smart like that because I’m a human, unless they aren’t near water and I’d just probably run as fast as I can because I have legs instead of waddling but I guess I’d have to be swarmed in order to find out.
