What a wonderful video! So many fabulous examples! Great list. About the jars of buttons… I am 72 years old. I have sewn since I was 12. My grandmother, mother and sister all sewed. When each one of them passed away, I asked for their buttons. We all had jars of buttons. Mostly, when you need buttons for a project, you have to buy more than you need. And, of course, you don’t throw them away. Then, we would all go to estate sales and buy other women’s buttons. I now own at least 800 million trillion buttons. I keep them in beautiful old tins, jars and boxes. They help to decorate my craft room and home. I love them all. One of my fondest memories is going to a fabric store with my mom, granny, and sister. We planned projects, helped each other think of solutions, and touched all the fabrics, etc. We could spend many hours there together. When I die, I hope someone loves my buttons too. Hugs, treen 💕💕💕💕
That's so sweet! I have a big box of my grandmother's embroidery floss. I like to use it for projects or bracelets when the kids were little. I think she would have liked that. :)
My grandmother and great grandmother had the most beautiful buttons
@@myporchprints-junkjournalt5340 I feel this. I inherited 5 of those embroidery floss containers full of every color under the sun. Trouble is, I only use them to sew in signatures. I'm thinking I might have to bite the bullet and learn embroidery after seeing the cute ideas for embroidery in this video 🥰❤️
My porch prints are the QUEENS of things that move
This is the best, most inclusive collection I've ever seen. Literally the most perfect video I've come across. Thank you ❤
🎉😊❤... Thx 🙏 for the FREEBIE... Most helpful... 😅... Sincerely sincere & appreciate your time, love 🥳 & creativity... Miss Judith 🌹... xx 🎶
Indeed best paperclip 📎 charms love junk journal jewelry for those of us do not create jewelry
Great tutorial if you don’t no know you no!😊❤
Totally agree the Queens
My grandmother used to remove buttons from old clothes that couldn’t be mended. I now do the same thing. I find free clothes people are giving away or I’ve even found clothes at the thrift store and will buy something just for the buttons. I also pickup old books, leather belts, doilies all kinds of things for pennies.

Wow! This is the best video! I feel like there were hundreds of inspiring ideas. Definitely one to save and watch again and again whenever I need some new ideas. Especially if I don't have time to watch dozens of videos.
You spoke about the jars or packages of buttons found in thrift stores and where they might come from. Most of the crafting "stuff" that is in thrift stores comes from other crafters (I include sewers in this), but some might be from a store that is clearing away some old stock. Some of the crafters who donate crafting things are clearing their stash out... while others come from crafters who have passed away and the family doesn't want the crafting things.
As many have found out, thrift stores generally have older craft items, which is great for making "vintage" and "retro" journals. I get many of my crafting items from thrift stores, including buttons, ink stamps, stencils, lace and ribbon, brads, beads, sometimes hardware... even papers, old magazines, and books. They are a great source for everyone including those of us with a limited crafting budget.
Fantastic video! Thank you!
Happy to hear it was helpful! 🤍

Great video Kyra! Thank you so much. I loved everything about this especially the idea of a dangling miniature book, the little folios and envelopes. Everything is just lovely. I also loved how you shared that you can't resist ribbons and the lace. Over to Etsy for me now!

Amazing list of supplies - thank you!

Thank you Donna! Welcome! 🤍
This is such an awesome video! Thank you Kira for doing it. So many great ideas. 😊
Thank you! This is a great list and video. I will use this quite a bit, I think. I can even print it off and include it in journals that are gifts so that the recipient gets a few ideas as well.
I love your journal kits. They are so easy to use... very beautiful... and I mix and match them all the time. I don't have nearly every kit you have, but I'm really getting quite a collection. Now I just need to get journals made.... although having your kits has allowed me to make several journals and other items with ease. As for tearing books apart... I can't do it. I will scan a page I like so I can print it and use that... and I use the pages from your kits too.
This is so beautiful!!!
Wooooow. What an amazing amazing gorgeous video I’m speechless on how beautiful you described every single part …I always had so many questions and you just answer every single one of my questions…no wonder you are the QUEENS… 👑 thank you so much ..blessings …and I’m sure I will be your new costumer…🙏🙏🙏🙏🍂🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🍂🍂🍁🍁🧡🧡🍁🍁👌👌👌🙋🏻♀️💛💛💛💛💛
Such a great list, especially if just starting out. Wish I could have found some thing like this when I started. Thank you so much for sharing! 🤗❤️
You're welcome!
Very well done and thank you for the lists! As to the thrift store buttons…I volunteer in one and it may be that there are times that a volunteer takes home clothes otherwise designated for the dump and will cut off the buttons and sell those in various quantities.

Your journals are so beautiful! Do you sell your journals?
Hello, thank you so much! Currently we are not selling the finished journals, but we do sell kits to make them and have lots of tutorials on our channel for most of the journals shown in this video if you care to have one for your very own!
The buttons from the jars in the thrift store come from damaged clothes.

Do you actually write - journal in these?
what is ephemra i think i am confused what it is
Please don't take this the wrong way...I was already confused about the whole junk journal concept, I think it's because I have OCD and my brain works a little differently. But I have an open mind, love crafting, etc. and have gotten about 5 pages completed. But watching this video you're showing all these beautiful papers and what-nots that can be purchased at your shop, so isn't that kind of defeating the purpose of JUNK journaling? I would say yours is "fancy schmancy" journaling.... lordy I'm so confused
Hello! Everyone crafts and journals for different reasons. Like any kind of art, junk journaling is a form of self expression. Some people make junk journals entirely out of found items. Some people make junk journals out of a mix of found items and printables (usually because they are going for a certain look or style.) Some people just use digitals and nothing else. Many of our printable kits actually incorporate scans of vintage items (ephemera) which can be helpful for anyone who might have a hard time getting authentic vintage items for their journals.
We try not to judge anyone's art, and allow everyone to express themselves in whatever way brings them the most joy. So feel free to use as much junk or lack-there-of as you like!
🙂Hope that answered your questions and cleared up a little of the confusion!
