The second one he shows uses the same background I've had on my tablet for like 6 years now, because it's one of the first results when you google 'neon city background'. They're so low effort lmao.
NFTs, especially animated ones, remind me of the 2000s when you would sent these stupid gifs around via Bluetooth, like the kitten with the headphones bopping it's head left and right, so you could then do nothing with them except for looking at them on your flip phone after playing snake for two hours
The other day I read a comment that said something like "NFTs are basically 'adopt me' characters that 11 year olds draw on instagram, except for 29 year old cryptocurrency dudes with no better way to spend money" and I've gotta say, it's painfully accurate
genuinely NOTHING is worth the environmental damage these things do, if you want art, COMMISSION AN ARTIST its so simple and it pisses me off so much, you wont ever actually make money off of them, all you are doing is paying to have a chunk of the amazon burned down, people are so fucking stupid
Very true. Plus, you could probably commission 4 or 5 pieces of art that are a thousand times better than any NFT for like £100, because commission artists undervalue their work and NFT bros agonisingly overvalue theirs
@@peepeetrain8755 it’s a bit confusing tbh but it has to do with datamining crypto in general, from what i gather there is just a lot of computing power that goes into minting nfts and exchanging them and whatever the hell a block chain is that means they have a massive carbon footprint compared to like mailing an art print, bc like everything has a carbon footprint but for nfts and crypto the computing power needed is especially bad, it’s confusing tbh i hope that made any sense, you can find articles that explain it a bit more in depth tho
For celebrities and crypto weirdos it’s the fear of missing out. Since they’re popular. Anyone with the money either want to hop on the band wagon when they boosted in popularity. Or people want to make them cheaply and awfully (possibly with stolen art) to profit off the popularity and people that want to hop on the band wagon. Or to profit off the crypto people that believe something like the slug/worm nfts will be the next best thing, thinking the £2,000 is going to good use. So from what I’ve seen it’s a mix of rich wanting to be on the trend, crypto people wanting to get rich. And scammers wanting to get rich.
Hopefully they'll die soon. It's so weird that celebrities preach how everyone should do their bit about climate change then go buy NFTs for several thousand dollars to look cool or whatever
@@user-ze1qk9tg0k a LOT of NFTs steal art from small artists and even if it doesn’t it’s not a good way for artists to get their name out there. Think about it, do you even know the artist who created the ape NFTs?? It’s just money laundering bullshit for rich people that, I feel bad for everyone who’s buying into it
The fact that I could probably draw a stick figure and sell it for 1000$ and find someone genuinely interested In buying it is enough to convince me that humanity is doomed

@@kwebbyboy1622 it costs an insane amount of energy to keep everything online. its the same with every cryptocurrency, mining one bitcoin is the equivalent of throwing away about 7 iphones
@@benyoung5633 Wanna take a guess how much energy Google's servers consume every hour to keep CZcams running? All online services require energy to work. Cryptomining makes up a very small proportion of the overall internets energy consumption. You might as well go hate on Netflix Spotify or any other massive internet platform as well if you really think energy consumption is a big problem.
@@theRealChadWarden42069 Google's Terrawatt-hours consumed is 12.4 anually. Bitcoin alone is 91 terrawatt-hours anually. I'm not necessarily against crypto but do some research before you type a damn essay in some comment section.
honestly, some of the art is pretty fun (but probably stolen), but the biggest downside of nfts isn't even the incredibly shit art at extremely high prices, but the huge affects that buying nfts and the processing of the receipts has on the environment. so just... a warning for you

i would probably briefly consider buying one of the animated skellies because theyre kind of cute. but ultimately i still wouldnt since i can just look at them online and not pay to contribute to nfts damaging the planet
my first encounter with an NFT was “Just Bricks” and it’s hilarious. it’s just pics of pixelated bricks with different designs selling for 20-fucking-bands.
The issue is that a few nfts like the cool cats have really cute art styles but the randomisation of the accessories makes them look worse than they could’ve been. Some of them could look so much better if the creator just put in some more effort
All NFTs can be split into two categories.
The ones that have some of the worst art you’ve ever seen, and the ones that use stolen art.
