Mean comments on the internet - “The unwanted caterpillar in the lovely salad,” Thank you Mr Fry, how eloquently put xx
We literally have an old saying in Vietnamese for this "Con sâu làm rầu nồi canh"!
I want to start using that. "Dude, dont be the caterpillar."
The unwanted DEAD caterpillar
I think it comes from Wodehouse, seeing as Stephen Fry is a big fan of his. In more than one short story he described someone having "a look like a vegetarian finding a caterpillar in their salad" or something of the sort.
@@bertrandd3813 given Fry literally played Jeeves, I think you can call him a little more than a big fan lol
For people confused, this clip is from 2009. Hence the lack of Twitter users in the audience, and Stephen Fry and Billy Bailey's more youthful appearance.
To be fair, the vast majority of the population are still not on Twitter, thankfully.
Not to mention how old Twitter looks
Thanks for the confirmation. I knew it was older, but the Iran protest comment was a good clue.
And Graham himself. Haha
Also Stephen Fry was the first big celeb to use twitter.
“Biological field notes” hahahaha Bill Bailey is hilarious
I had to watch that part twice it made me laugh so much
“A CZcams film” - ah yes, 2009.
More like "Ah yes, Stephen Fry".
My god what a throwback to a completely different time...yet it was only 10 years ago.
"completely". Let's compare 2010 with 2000 now
A completely different time? Why? Intelligent conversation? This episode could be from 2021 as far as I'm concerned. Genuine question! p.s. I do not use Twitter - which as such has had zero impact on my life.
@@pretzelberger2125 No because of how much technology has changed in this decade.
Those were such an innocent times back When Twitter being a tool for social change was still fascinating for people, not the headlines for next days news...
It's a sad example of why "we can't have nice things"
Only the news they want us to see.
Most everything is innocent, neutral, harmless....until Humankind discovers it and ruins it.
Dark side...
"Headlines"?
"News"?
Who even use Twitter anymore...
... for anything worthwhile, I mean.
The world needs more people like Bill Bailey, who could take a joke at the expense of himself like a champ!
Aye, poor chap though. Low blows.
True Brit, 🥰😇🇬🇧
"Is that the bald man with the long hair?"
That, sir, is called a skullet. You can thank Devin Townsend for that.
Imma steal that
😎
He had a dreadlock skullet, didn't he? That's a whole new level
That’s Bill Bailey, the only man in the universe allowed to get away with that.
Stephen Fry & Bill Bailey. Wow. They make a great team.
Hugh Laurie: Excuse me?
I share him with the world © Hugh Laurie
Hugh can have a new show with Dylan Moran. Wait that sounds awesome
Bill Bailey and Alan Davies
@@duke_hugo That's a brilliant idea
Hugh Laurie and Dylan Moran 😯 they would be amazing together
Stephen Fry and Bill Bailey, put these two together in absolutely anything and I will watch it.
Both Stephen and Bill (and Graham!) are such legendary people, it is a real treat to have them together on a show like this!
I love that it was called twittering instead of tweeting
I noticed that! I'd forgotten that existed.
It was called tweeting, they were just being silly.
😂 I have always referred to it as Twits Twittering.
It's either a Brit thing or Graham Norton not knowing what he's talking about. I heard "tweeting" from the first I heard about Twitter, circa 2006-2009
It was always called tweeting 😅 i was there... i know...
Fry: Online comments are unnecessarily mean
Also Fry: roasts the eff out of Bill Bailey 🤣
It's not often Fry gets to Roast Bill, it's usually the other way around on QI :P
In fairness, it was to his face and it was an affectionate roasting. As an aside, pro tip: do NOT Google "affectionate roasting"
In person it's banter.
It's just banter between friends. Very different to internet trolls.
I get that you're only joking though;)
@@JohnVella1968 ROFLYSST
When a comedian (Billy Bailey) can make a fellow comedian (Stephen Fry) laugh heartily you know Billy Bailey is funny and he so artfully turned what almost amounted to an insult into a self deprecatory joke then the man is practically invincible!
You do know they've known each other for literally decades before this interview in 2009?
@@michaelversace456 Tweet about it.
Adore Stephen Fry. He is a gift to the world.
Well, he certainly thinks so
@@ruthmeb He's confident. It's a good thing.
He has suffered with depression for most of his life, he is trying to move forward positively.
@@ruthmeb Well millions agree with him, it's a shame you can't see past that.
Graham Norton’s laugh at 2.38 had me ROFLYSST
Yh I lt gets me all the time 🤣😂
@@Steve-sq4rj Yet Somehow Still Typing. It's a Bill Bailey reference
"How many of you Twitter?" 😆
Dying to know what year this was.
@@chrispham2731 i came across some comments saying it was 2009😂 so almost prehistoric levels of long long ago in the beforetime
Is that the bald guy with the long hair? LOOOOL
“WHY HAVE THEY CHANGED PRINGLES???”
Me: did they?
Have they?!?!? 😱😱😱
Just announced a change in the picture on the tube. Mildly relevant.
P&G sold it to Kellogs a few years back.
This was 2009
I'd forgotten how photos were twitpic links before. How far we've come 😂
Two of the most intelligent men Graham has ever had at one time.
That comment is so laden with innuendo. You should become a writer of Catty On films.
@@grahamlive Autocorrong.
Stephen Fry is always very captivating! Great narrator of Audio books as well!
Stephen Fry could narrate a murder and make the victim feel calmed..
Have you heard him recite the words for snow on Kate Bush's song "50 Words For Snow" ? Brilliant piece by Kate, and Fry was the perfect voice to use. czcams.com/video/UGtYgN0j0RE/video.html
I really liked him as Oscar Wilde. Great film. Not too well known, here in 'the states', but Fry is clearly talented and quite intelligent. And funny, too. So, is the other guy on the show, Bailey. Very entertaining. Cheers.
@@waynej2608 Stephen and Bill are both extremely intelligent. I'd say Bill is genius level.
Until someone in the book has to put something into his pocket...
Stephen’s “oh darling” 💜
I remember Stephen Fry being the king of Twitter back in the day 😂
Man this clip was a time capsule I didn't know I needed to open. Made me think of a slightly more innocent seeming time.
Considering 1 Million followers a lot is so quaint now.
He's at over 12 Million these days.
I checked that to! haha
This was 10 years ago, dark ages of twitter. Considering how many people in the room had twitter accounts, I'd say 1 million was big for UK.
@@andreidinu7316 "dark ages of twitter", I think it's still there or even downgraded to the Paleolithic age even!
@@METALFREAK03 in terms of quality, probably. I only follow people that post regular business updates, so I don't see all the other stuff. But I understand it can get ugly pretty fast.
Now THAT is an intelligent couch (and interviewer’s chair). Well done Mr Norton.
I'm very surprised that in the info segment below the clip they don't include the original air date. It would really be a welcome addition I think for many people.
I love Stephan Fry. wicked smart and not only is he a funny lovely actor.
but I love his activism as well
Stephen should've been Prime Minister of the Whole World.
if ignorance is bliss, then I'm in a constant state of ''O" from never having ventured into the Twitter-verse. and that's the way I like it.
Same! Multiple “O” if you’re not an tilting!
I was briefly a subscriber to Twitter in 2017. Stephen Fry was extolling the pleasures of swearing and reeled off the usual suspects (God help us, there are so few). I just had to reply, so I said, "Yes, Stephen but we don't all have your education".
Yes!
"How many of you Twitter?" 😆
Dying to know what year this was.
Think it was 2009
Never had Twitter and don’t want it.
@@leslieollerhead1114 it's nothing special. I have barely used it and I've had Twitter since 2010. It's also become a vile place.
@@leslieollerhead1114 me neither... xD
Tell us about it, its full of TERFs.
Bucket list: make Stephen Fry laugh and have him say "Very good".
Love Stephen Fry. What a beautiful soul 🙏🏼♥️
Bill Bailey is such a lovely person
Underdog 100 is me trying to sleep. Too many thoughts flapping about. 😂😂😂
I love these three guys. All of them have a unique humor and instant wit. Hold up a matchstick, all three they will find their own humor from it.
How could anybody dislike Stephen Fry, or Bill Bailey for that matter?
Love when Graham polled the audience about being on twitter. About 5 people raised their hands. I guess most Britons know a waste of time when they see it.
Nope. This has 10 years ago, that's t'he reason.
This was just the beginning of twitter 10/11 years ago ⏳
It was years ago. But to be fair, most people I know (I'm in the UK) don't bother with Twitter even now, so perhaps you're correct:)
Stephen Fry is so amazing.....
oh wait did he just say "there are comments, people who have decided to be unalterably mean and utterly resentful " *We all leave the chat*
Bill Bailey is one of my favorite people of all time!!!!
Can we appreciate the fact that they all had every chance to be boomer-y yet they genuinely weren't, and rather than mock progress seemed to be overall positive about it? I rather liked that.
Graham has always been this weird mix of dismissive boomer and insane zoomer.
Graham’s laughter always makes my day 🥰😂
I am literally ROFLYSST right now... 🤣⌨
"Who here Tweets?"...out of an audience of 500 people 3 people put there hands up....that was hysterical...
The good old days!
I still don't. Rebel without a clue, me! :)
Most people don't, tweeters are the vocal minority
"biological field notes!" Love that line.
I love this show as well as his two guests today. All three are masters of their craft.
Absolutely incredible insight into how much things have changed in last 12 years. Quite sad really
I love Bill Bailey's Kentucky Waterfall.
Hey Bill, here in the States, we call it the, “Skullit” or “The Ben Franklin”. 😂
Somehow I'd missed this until now, but better late than never! You've made my night, and I thank you!
Poor James was completely taken off guard. Bless him
Does it strike anyone else how different they all look compared to now when it wasn’t that long ago?
It was at least 10 years ago.
You haven’t aged in 10 years ?! I want your secret...
How does Bill Bailey look any different? I swear that man has looked the same for the last 30 years.
@@phoenix9921 Bill has gotten very grey over the past 2-3 years, you can definitely tell a difference. His general "benefit" is that he always looked older than he was due to the bald-egg-thing.
@Alien Dewd
Not to me it isn't!
I would never have thought to see Stephen Fry wearing those socks.
Stephen Fry. Legend.
Bill Bailey at the end, Rolling on the floor yet still typing.. umm yeah its called having a phone. :L I'm ROLFYST RN :D
Remember this is a decade ago. "Smart" phones were pretty new and hardly anyone in UK had them yet (let alone use them for mudane things like twitter).
Bill Bailey is hilarious...!!! Characterful looks too...
Yes, everyone. Twitter used to be this fun!
Thanks for posting.
Ah, the before times. When Twitter was new and exciting, not a smouldering helllscape.
Fry is the new Ustinov. Brilliant.
Absolutely hilarious 😅🤣😂😅🤣
Bill Bailey is hilarious. xD
I could listen to these three for hours😄
What a time capsule of an episode!
TwitPic! Bless. Them was the days.
0:09 Bill! 😂
You are killing me here! XD Bear hugs, Kata
Watched this three times and STILL laugh ... simply wonderful guys
I just followed @underdog100 can verify the rest of her twitter is more of the same, love it! glad i followed her LOL
No activity since Jul 2011...
I don't know how old this is, but thank you so much, you saved my life today, I was terrified

I love Stephen Fry!
I text CAB which is short for chuckled a bit... Way more honest than LOL
Underdog reminds me of a bumper sticker ... "My wife says I have the attention span of a ...Ooh, Squirrel !"
😝
Bill bailey is hilarious
Gorgeous as usual ❤️
Fair few brain cells on that couch & also very funny talented men.
When Twitter was used to make statements that meant something...
So nothings changed
why have they changed pringles???
"Today I have an anti-men day"?
*nothing
fixed.
Okay, Okay, our Family noticed that all
Of you are wearing same or close alike
Suits.... Did you all phone to see what the
Rave was to be that day?
Pretty Cool Mr. Graham, no wonder
You are Top of the Game
Bravo from Canadian Watchers 🤗🤗👏👏👏🤗🤗🤗☺️☺️😎😉
Stephen Fry could read the terms and conditions and I’d happily listen
A great man ,Mr fry !!
ROFLYSST, love it. I might use that.
Title: Stephen Fry & Bill Bailey Hilariously Read The Audience Members Tweets
Video: Graham Norton hilariously reading the audience members' Tweets.
Stephen and Bill did read them. Just not out loud. 😉
I will start using the abbreviation WIMS (weeing in my seat).
Stephen’s socks are amazing
Absolutely agree on pringles.
stephen fry is somehow warmhearted and laughing with others, not at them, yet also erudite and dryly witty. Cool.
btw, Stephen and Bill did not read the twits, Graham does.
My biggest wish is to somehow see Graham Norton, Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen together on a chat show..... Either here on Grahams or @Andy's
Stephen Fry looks like he’s in the best shape of his life. The man is exuding health. So good to see.
this clip is from years ago x
Jess is right, this is from over a decade ago
There should be a new acronym for Twitter shorthand, wis (for "weeing in seat"). Pronounced, of course, "wizz".
This was so funny I roflysst'ed.
Bethan is so cute bless her. Wee and all..
How many of you twitter ? That's quite a few.... 6 hands went up !! Lol
There was me thinking, 'oh how Twitter has changed'... 'Having an anti-men day today'.
Nope, it's always been a cesspool.
Watching this now, I just checked Stephen's twitter and he now has 12.6million followers
jelly tots woman is wonderful
Oh hey, they mentioned Mark Watson, he's a super underrated comedian.
He tells it like a pear cider that's been made with 100% pear(s).
Childhood gets me all tangled up, Stephen sounds so much more different since when he did Pocoyo :((
That last comment by Bill.. He actually did an "Internet Love Song" that was hiarious
"A good wee."
It sounds intentional. õ.Ô
Underdog100 is the definition of twitter back then 😂
Chat shows are so much better in the UK than here in the US. Just hysterical!😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Agreed!!!!
From what I've seen American hosts make it about them too much, and not the guests.
@@michaelcolbourn6719 agreed!!
Appreciate that you said IN the UK, because James Corden has tried to make his show a mix of Graham Norton's and Jimmy Fallon's...and it's just far too much me me me James Corden, like Fallon.
Because US chat show hosts always have to rush their guests so that they can go to commercial breaks every two minutes. Totally ruins the flow of any potentially good conversation.
