go into your graphics settings for example into nvidia select SETUP DIGITAL AUDIO and you should get a drop down menu for displays that are connected to Display port and hdmi with sound capabilities

I freshly installed windows 11 on my thinkpad, and it is not connecting to the monitor. Do I need to install a driver or something? It is a thinkpad T420.

First try pressing Win+P key combo to change the projection mode. If it doesn't show up, or it doesn't display on the other screen, see if there is a Fn key combo on the keyboard for changing the display.
Otherwise, check your cable is HDMI _to_ DisplayPort (for HDMI laptop to a DisplayPort monitor), not DisplayPort _to_ HDMI (for an HDMI monitor).

I have connected my pc with led tv as pc has no hdmi port so i used hdmi to display port converter at first it was working well but after few months it start showing no signal and sometime it shows the pc screen but suddenly shows no signal i have also bought new one it worked 2 days properly but again the same problem what should i do now anyone who can help me...

My mother scolded me for wasting her money because I apparently needed to buy an HDMI adapter for my computer since the display port could not work as the VGA cable was actually the problem.
Now i have both the HDMI and Display port hehe I really just wanted to share my story because I'm just such a naive person hahaha
I forgot to mention that this video reminded me to try different cables, and I saw how the channel told the viewers to go to Facebook for technical help which I would've done if trying would not work.

for some reason it doesn’t work because the cable is Unidirectional it will only show signal if you connect from your PC/Laptop DP to your Monitor HDMI port, but it will not show any signal if you connect your PC/Laptop HDMI to your Monitor DP.
