  • For decades, one of the world’s largest pesticide manufacturers deployed the Big Tobacco playbook to keep its flagship product ubiquitous-despite the company’s own internal research showing that it harmed farmers.
Today the pesticide, paraquat, is banned in 58 countries-but its use is on the rise in the United States, despite mounting scientific evidence that it causes Parkinson’s disease.
Now, American farmers are challenging its manufacturer, Syngenta, in court, alleging it minimised, obfuscated and manipulated the science linking its product to Parkinson’s.
The outcome of the case could help determine whether wide swathes of the United States remain doused in one of the most toxic pesticides on earth.

Such an incredibly necessary documentary. It'd be amazing to have it translated into Spanish (dubbed or subtitled), considering the large numbers of Spanish-speakers working the US fields.

      ⬆️ what they said
I am so sorry you are going thru this. You were just working. It doesn’t surprise me that the Environmental Protection Agency is dirty via Corporations. I’ve found this behavior in other Federally Funded (ie: US Citizen Tax Dollar Funded to protect them).
Based on my understanding of the chemical, I have a question:
      Is it composed of:
      A metal chemical
      A sanitizer chemical
And a “-“ Oxygen chemical / meaning O2 in the brain merged with a different than O2
      ?
Either way, it’s a chemical that was forced on workers of all agriculture.
Then into the soil and water runoffs.
      Then into our food supply.
It sounds like the chemical sold at stores called ‘Roundup’.
I had a sudden onset of Essential Tremors at age 40. My maternal grandfather developed Parkinson’s as he aged as well.
They need to be held accountable. I hope awareness like this works in your favor ❤

I cried through this. My sister was diagnosed with Parkinson't just over a year ago. I saw her on Christmas for the first time since April, and it was like being punched in the stomach. No one on either side of our family ever had Parkinson''s. Of course, she's not a farmer or someone who sprayed paraquat, so it seems it might be reaching people in other ways. Through the food they eat? I'd like to seem some followup on that. Meanwhile, sincerest thanks to Al-Jazeera for this enlightenment.
