    at that price you can get Ender-3 -- One of the nicest print quality machines out there, even to date.

      Can confirm. Just got mine for 75€ with a fresh half-spool of filament included. Meaning I even have enough budget to do a little 'upgrade' to it (the bed has some scratches in it) before I hit the same price point.

      Nice. Is it the original Ender 3 or one of the later versions ?

      @@Arne.Bornheim Original one with a few mods installed, most of them just 3d printed additions;
      -belt tensioner for X and Y
      -direct drive mod
      -vulcan part cooler (I THINK that's what it's called?)
      -aftermarket extruder clamp, no idea what it's called but I KNOW it's not the original one.
      Edit: And it prints really well as long as I avoid placing the part in the scratched areas of the print bed, or make sure to increase the first layer height to compensate for those scratches. Have only had one misprint so far and that was my own fault... I left a window open right next to it while printing overnight, and the part warped when (I assume) a fresh breeze hit it.
      Definitely gonna DIY a bit of an enclosure soon, even if just out of cardboard.

    why wouldn't you get an ender 3 from MicroCenter

      Doesn't sound like he knows how to tram a bed, he's probably used to expensive printers doing everything for the user

      @@FenweekohMy second hand Ender 3 works amazing. Took a little tweaking and learning the printer. But it prints beautifully now.

      In germany we don’t have micro center 😃 but I know what you mean generally !

      @@Arne.Bornheim There used to be a ton of Ender 3, which would ship from Hamburg for ~150€ on ebay. But getting an original first gen Ender 3 is getting more difficult/expensive. But they are very cheap used and can be fixed and upgraded quite easily with cheap and common parts.

    Great video! Can you order a cheap printer from Aliexpress next? It would be a really fun video.😊

    congrats on hitting the "cheap shitty printer" milestone - many people forget that we've all been there at some point. For me, FL Sun cube, my god the stories i could tell :D

    Seeing this makes me super happy I got lucky and was able to find a Ender 3 V3 KE for $80. Could not believe I found a deal that good. I wish there were better options out there around $100 for people to dip their toes into the hobby. I got lucky and found my very first printer for $100 at a closeout store by me, a XYZ Da Vinci Mini. It had its headaches but it was a good starting point.

      Dann 80$ for the ender really is a great price!

    Rather than the bambu lab a1 mini for 250 i would go with the ender 3 v3 ke, its pretty solid and has a lot of features while providing a bigger base plate

    • @Arne.Bornheim
      @Arne.Bornheim  Před 3 měsíci

      I think it really depends on what you want 😊 I like both but they have different strengths. Bambulab is a bit more polished but a lot smaller for the same price..

      i recently bought a used Anycubic Kobra Go for 60€ and it prints much better than this plastic bs and I can easily upgrade it, when parts break (getting the same parts would be difficult though, since they made a few dumb decisions)

      @@Arne.Bornheim That's pretty much the reason the most common budget printer before the Ender 3 mostly died out. Things like the Anet A8 and other cheap i3 clones were cheaper with just 120€ compared to 150€ for an Ender 3 (in 2019), but the difference in quality is much larger than just 30€ (not including the fact, that a stock Ender 3 is not flammable compared to an Anet A8)
