In this tutorial, I demonstrate two possible ways to fix this Windows startup error that says windows failed to start, a recent hardware or software changes might be the cause, with the error code 0xc00000f or 0xc0000225. Just as the error message suggests, this could be caused by either a hardware or software change on your computer. On the hardware side, it could be that the disk with your Windows files or your operating system, for some reason is inaccessible to the boot manager. So maybe the disk got loose from the disk connector or in the worst-case scenario the disk is failing. On the software side, it could be that certain applications or malware have managed to change the path to your Windows boot media, and as such, the boot manager is unable to locate the boot files during startup. The first solution in this tutorial is for situations where this error is due to hardware changes while the second solution will address the possibility of a software change leading to this error. If you’re unsure what could be causing this error in your case, then I recommend that you start off with the first solution and if the error continues, then you can proceed with the second one.

You didn't break it 💀 all you had to do was just use another installation media if this didn't work or you messed it up on accident by messing up windows files and reinstall windows, software can't break hardware unless you do it on purpose
In my case when I type bootrec /scanos it shows that total identified windows installations 0
It's just not reading your hard drive. Master boot record will still be repaired.
I had this issue arise in a fairly complicated way due to restoring an incremental backup from the AOMEI backupper software. After much pain and many time consuming troubleshooting steps, this fairly simple procedure is what ultimately fixed it. Thank you so much, this got me back producing again and oh so happy 🤘

I was convinced that the problem was in the software, so I didn’t do anything externally.
When you said to remove and put back the Hard Drive, I realized that my SSD had a cable unplugged.
I plugged it in, and my freak-out sessions from the past two days are FINALLY over.
Moral of the story: always do the obvious.

You can spam reset computer till you computer work and make a back up save, it may take over 10 try or 100 try or more

protip: dont reinstal windows. Go into command prompt and try bootrec /rebuildbcd. If it says it cant be done, do bootrec /fixboot and then try /rebuildbcd. Worked for me.
But its all too late anyway - im looking at the screen, telling me "preparing" under win10 lading, after i tried reinstalling windows altogether, cuz the screen said "use install drive and go to repair" and "fix while rebooting" didnt work. "reinstall windows and update but keep your settings" didnt work either. Fresh instal just threw old, perfectly fine windows into windows.old and now ive got boatload of reinstallation to do anyway, while giving out "windows cant boot in the next phase"...
Do you need an empty flash drive to solve the problem or what I need to solve the problem on my Dell laptop too

If you are using a macbook, emulator to use Windows
1. Restart
2. Get the pop up that is showing in this video
3. click escape three times.
It will reboot your computer in your original operating system. You may re-download another software and use boot camp. You will lose your data from your bootcamp transfer.

I replaced my battery with a new original one and Windows on my Alienware 15 R3 no longer started and showed me "No Bootable Device". 😱
I struggled for 2 days to reboot my PC and start Windows 10 in UEFi, Legacy mode, on USB key, in short I tried everything and without success. 😩
In the end I then had the brilliant idea of unplugging and reconnecting my SSD drive (C drive) on which Windows 10 is installed and it worked as before, I didn't lose any files or programs, everything worked as before.💡

I’ve had this happen twice on two drives and unfortunately nothing worked.
It just runs into a device stop code everytime I do the windows 10 installation I cleaned the whole pc made sure everything is plugged bought a new hard drive and it still giving me this issue

I find it really suspicious that it just seemed to happen right after I stopped my subscription to Microsoft 365 ( to use Word to write my various college assignments ) this happened! I took a nail clipper to my motherboard after powering off my PC and rubbed it against the motherboard then it started working again the boot error went away
