    Such a sleek & clean profile, to this particular last. Boy you really swung for the fence on your first fore into the world of engineers. And why not. I feel like, at least to me, these are everything that you could ever want in an engineer boot. Besides how versatile and stylish they are, they're built like a brick sh!t-house, and with proper care, will easily stand the test of time. I really appreciate you sharing these, and your specific thought process behind the purchase. Please wear them in good health. Cheers.....🥃

    Perfect! The boot straps are brilliant. I’ve got a back straps on my Julian’s that are awesome for pulling on. I can’t believe all engineers don’t have either the inside or back pull on straps. You picked a winner in my books.

    Horsebutt is one of my favorite leathers, keep us updated! And welcome, brother, to the engineers! I have Wesco Mr. Lou Maryam Black teacore, and John Lofgren Engineers Natural cxl. The JL are a step above in quality and function, but the wesco are great, also.

      Yeah there were a lot of options, but none seemed to hit like the clinch overdyed brown horse butt. So that was the stand out winner for me!

    Love my Cilnch engineers. Mine also developed rolls on one boot before the other. They're now both equally roll-y, and man the rolls are stunners. Incredible leather. Condition them with Saphir and they shine up really nice.

    Very cool boots, man. Congrats on a stunner! I'm a dress boot/service boot guy and not ready to do an Engineer boot yet. Love the look but not sure I can pull off one with such as long shaft. Firstly my jeans wont fit over them. ;) I need some wide/straight leg denim. I just purchased an intermediate boot that's kinda making its way towards an Engineer: Rolling Dub Trio Casper.

    Fantastic boots sir…. I’ve have been following Brass-Tokio Clinch boots in the horse boot leather lately and am quite impressed. I’ve been a dress boot wearer mostly (all my boots top out at 6” height… but just this week made the plunge and bought the Clinch Judphur styled boots very slightly used for slightly more than half price on Grailed.
    Clinch judhpur have a slightly taller shaft (about 8”) than the std judhpur and their CN last makes them similar to their engineer boots, including the logger’s heel which I found stylistically more to my taste. I’m waiting for them to arrive and once I start wearing them I’ll know a bit more if the Clinch Engineer boots (the 9” tall version) is in my future.
    Regarding your CZcams channel: I’m a follower and regularly check your videos and also recently made my first purchase from the Italian shoemaker Antonio Meccariello who I discover in your channel. Again., congratulations on your Clinch engineer boots.

    You got the holy grail of engineer boots, super jealous of you. I've been back and forth between either the Clinch or the Role Club engineers and I think that between the two, Clinch is the winner. Brian the Bootmaker mixes up different materials with whatever is available at the time and therefore he does not have a listed price for his products that is very consistent. Not to say that the Role Club engineers are bad by any means, but the fact that he does this is seemingly a red flag to me. At least with the Clinch engineers, you know you're getting a consistently well made boot with an unbeatable design. The hard part about Clinch is that they probably only do like one drop per year at Standard and Strange and you have to get in the second they go on sale or else they sell out in a few minutes

    • @Shellvedge
      @Shellvedge  Před 9 měsíci

    • @Shellvedge
      @Shellvedge  Před 10 měsíci

      Yeah I looked at them, I did like them. But clinch narrow was a clear winner from an aesthetic and overall shape.
      When I look at them on the feet and from a far, the clinch is almost always the best looking boot

    nice boots. personally prefer the Lofgren last for engineers, but nice. I know clinche is handwelted though, but I've got such a big rotation it doesn't matter if my shoes are hand welted or Goodyear welted, ill likely will only have to resole them once or twice at the most in my life, so now I just buy based on aesthetics, leather quality, and finish, so ill buy things like Edward Green if it isn't handwelted just for the aesthetics, even though I know technically it's overpriced compared to what can be bought but sometimes aesthetics reign supreme for me. I do have clinch Yeagers, and I love them, but I have so many shoes i barely even see them.

      I think I just followed the sizing guidance a bit more accurately than others I’ve talked to.
      Like it’s in Japanese sizing.
      So the guidance is a half size up, maybe a full size up if you have wide or high instep. So a UK8 normalized size, would mean you’d need a UK8.5 or UK9. Which equates to a US9, and US9.5 or US10. Then, Japanese sizing which is clinch, would equate to J10 and J10.5 or J11.
      I got a J10.5 = US9.5 = UK8.5. Which is a half size up from my Alden best fit and a full size up from my brannock due to both a semi wider fit and a high instep.

    I just picked up a pair of John Lofgren Shinki Horsebutt Engineers. I was like you, wasn't sure if I would like the look. Too chunky and cowboy boot-ish. But took the plunge because I wanted something different in my collection. Super pleased with mine too. My problem is that my denim dont fit over the shaft. lol. I think I need > 16inch at the hem. Can I ask what pair of denim you got and how large the hem is? Thanks, David.

    Trains have curved rails at the end of the cars that make climbing on moving trains easier. Brakeman also wore them. The heel is shaped to slide over the 1" rails and not slide off. Like riding boots. Always leather soles. Sorry. They didn't cuff them. That's a gay thing.
