The marxist perspective on education

Marxists argue that education acts as part of the ideological state apparatus. The role of education is to help elites maintain their power. It does this in three main ways:
- Through the correspondence principle
- Through reproducing class inequality
- Through legitimising class inequality.
This video presentation explains each of these functions and evaluates the marxist perspective on education using a range of contemporary evidence.
