- Cruising the NMCA Race in Norwalk, Ohio and came across this awesome 1970 Torino Cobra with a 429-cube engine and a 4-speed transmission running 12s on 7-inch stock tires!

One of the coolest Fords EVER made.
I just love the look of these cars. Badass. And it hails the mail for a 4100 lb car
Great to see some Torino love! Great video Evan. Jeff is the man!
That's truly a bad ass piece of muscle. I'm starting to grow fond of the 70 Torino
Beautiful Torino! 👍🏻👍🏻
The FAST series is something I have always been intrigued about... It makes people revert back to Hot Rodding basics... Finding trick ways to make power then figuring out how to make it hook on Pizza Cutters..... Amazing!
not really, just a shitload of cash
@@johndillinger8482 yeah that too!!! Lol
@@johndillinger8482 Yes, really.
that is a beautiful machine, Torino always been my favorite
I'm 70 years old in back in 1969 and 70 that was the baddest car you could get there was nothing that could beat that car just heads up
Would it beat a 71 boss 351
That class has to be a real challenge for drivers. Beautiful car.
It was the coolest thing to watch, thanks for the comment.
CLASSIC Ford iron - very cool!
Beautiful car
Great video, awesome Torino!
I had a light blue 1970 429 Cobra Jet BITD, I sure wish I had kept it now.
Love the FAST class.
Wow!! Amazing he gets this in the 12’s
I to had a 70 Torino cobra SCI, the best I managed was a 14.2 @ 98 mph
Traction was horrible
Nice!!!
What a gorgeous car. When we drove these in the 80's as kids, nobody knew what they were.
I love that car!
That’s impressive with those small tires
Awesome Car! Good Luck Jeff!!!
Great Looking Car!
I own a 1970 Mach 1, the one you see in my avatar. 1970 was a great body style year for Ford. The Ranchero came off the same platform I believe and has the same front nose. Torino's and Rancheros also had hideaway headlights. My Mach 1 has the 351 Cleveland. A nice substitute for the massive Boss 429. Like this car mine is also completely restored. When my wife and I bought the car in 1977 she drove it daily for 10 years, then we put her in the garage and only took her out on weekends as we bought a 19 87 Tempo which she drove
daily. She always a complained about the Tempo not having any power LOL.
I prefer 71-73 mustang don't get much love like 70-71 torino or 69 shelby compare to 67 shelbys
Would a 70 torino 429 beat a 71 boss 351
I love this car
What always struck me was how the front suspension unloaded & remained elevated the entire run and their whisper quiet exhaust.
One of my favorite Fords of all time.....would have liked to have seen it make a pass....
Nice vid man !! Sweet ride !!
Thank you!
Really loving the channel Evan! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much, I have a great post for tomorrow.
It's too bad they didn't put a Boss 429 in those. Still a really nice car though.😊
Makes me think of my heavy 90 gt. Ran a best of 12.62@113 with stock 3.08 gears, stock control arms, and Firestone firehawk tires. Lol
How ?
@@nexus6514 Car has a fairly weak 383w in it.
@@nexus6514 When it had stock control arm on it still with the 3.08 gears. I made a couple passes with a 26x8.5 hoosier and the axle wrapped so much the right rear shock got dented by the housing.... lol
Nice Torino!!
Wow love it! I have a70 GT.
Thanks Ken!
Do you still have the Mustang??
i am a torino lover. had a 71 with 302
Why not a video of it making a pass?
Great question, unfortunately I had a bunch of assignments and wasn't able to get good footage, I'll be able to get more on-track footage in the future. Thanks for the question and for checking out my channel.
@@revanevan your very welcome. Those cars have a special place in my heart.
Thats impressive that Hurst speed shifter
Beautiful car and nice job on the video. How much ET would he pick up if he powershifted in your opinion?
Sweet 💣
It ain't a mopars but it sounds delicious.
I had one wish I would have kept it
In 1970 I had a Plymouth Roadrunner with a 426 Hemi it was so heavy I could barely drive that car
I herd you can extrude hone the exhaust manifolds
did it have a solid lifter cam?
the super cobra jet was solid lift cam and cobra jet hydraulic
bandit 58 obvious reason I asked if it were solid lifter.
@@randysrestoration if dude doest know you from a can of paint, then nah man...it's not so obvious. I'm sure the man is sorry if he accidentally poked at your Aurora of expertise!
I hadn't thought about that. I've read a few articles a ways back talking about the non boss 429s being really stout, so when I hear almost into the 12.s I was surprised. An SCJ would run faster.
Is adding 400 pounds the only way to make it hook?
In some rare cases, adding weight helps. With those small tires it seems to work with these types of cars.
very cool car! Does it have the stock Holley on it? Did not see the engine oil cooler
Yes, stock carb, intake and heads.
@@revanevan Very Cool! What did you think of the idler pulley setup that is there when ordered without power steering? Its not required they have stock smog pump? The SCJ should have smog pump and of course that pesky rev limiter. LOL Do you know if it was a 3.91 car or a 4.30 Originally?
@@randysrestoration I'm not sure, I'm sure Jeff will answer all questions when he sees the video. I'm also not sure how strict they are in the class he runs with rules regarding pulleys.
@@randysrestoration - correct, the rules allow for the deletion of the smog stuff.
@@randysrestoration it's not a drag pack car. He's probably running 4.10's.maybe 4.30's.Lot of these cars in pure stock that run faster than the low 13's are cheaters, but they won't say anything.
😋Thats a spicy meatball.....😋
Really just wanted to see the car. My bad.
Not assembly line stock.
Lot of unseen mods. 😁
check the rule book. 👍
I doubt it's certified in pure stock.
if he was running in FAST he'd be running a 15:1 600CI Jon Kaase thumper.
Factory.Appearing.Stock.Tires
@@andyborowitz1730 No he wouldn't be running a 600 cube Kaase Engine in FAST Class, it's Factory Appearing Stock Tire. Meaning must have Stock Heads, Intake, Manifolds, I'm sure there's been some work done to them tho, No Aftermarket performance parts, Besides Cam has some leeway and Compression.
Come on man! Boooo
No actual run? This blows...
