Ever since of Golden Age of Jimi Hendrix and his blues guitar playing I’ve been big fan of rock groups with big Guitar Heroes as a front man. Beside that Delta Blues and Chicago Blues have always been two major currents in musical and mainly blues history.
So discovery of Tennessee native guitar “Wizard” Justin Johnson was nothing short of nice surprise. You can find the whole set of Johnson’s recordings on the internet but particularly interesting are his 2 latest albums “If Walls Could Talk” from 2016 and “Drivin’ It Down” from 2017.
His music is interesting but one has to see him live - what I haven’t have chance to do so far - to fully appreciate his visual wizardry since he can play on anything what even remotely resemble guitar. That’s what you can see in this short movie collected from videos of his song posted on internet.

My wife and I met Justin at the Four State Guitar show in Springfield Mo. Very nice humble guy.
He did a solo set at the end of the day for close to two hours. Take it from me, you definitely want
to see him live. He is the real thing.
Thanks for the note, I am sure he is as he looks in the movie. I'd like to see him but his problem is he doesn't tour far enough. I am in Toronto, but going to US every year so probably I have to schedule my trip to State with his concerts somewhere. I am sure it must be treat to see him live. Cheers. Jiri

His talent goes a little bit more advanced than everyone else he really is the greatest guitarists ever even though some say it was Hendrix. I don't know in my opinion he beats everyone on playing hands down. This guy would blow Y. malmsteen away in a guitar battle any day of the week.
This dude is outstanding, completely blown away by his talent.
I only know one Mr. Michael McDonald and he has a great singing voice. (musically, know who he is)

I've never seen nor heard of such! This guy is amazing! And so are the instruments! The blues have never been heard like this, at least in my world!!! I'm a big blues fan, my go to music. Some mainstream, but mostly a little off the main road. But now, I'm WAY out there, with this young man, and I may never come back!!! I've never heard the blues as rich as this. It's like it's oozing from my pores, feels like hot oil running down the middle of my back, just warm enough to give a chill, making the hair on my arms bristle. Does that make sense? I'm overwhelmed. Amazing.

Here's somebody who knows how to make MUSIC, rather than simply being able to play an instrument. There IS a difference. He hears musical possibilities in what most players would dismiss as a joke or a gimmick.
Of course he hears the possibilities, they're all guitars just with more/less strings, or weird shapes, or no fretboard. The underlying concept doesn't change, it would be surprising for any decent guitarist _not_ to be able to play these.

Take for example, the movie industry. Once upon a time, actors were called entertainers. Nowadays, they are called stars. If the power went out at a Hollywood dinner party, entertainers could entertain the crowd. Stars would need a script.
Justin is a musician. He can find music anywhere. While the "stars" would still be looking for a sound man and their guitar tech, Justin would have turned a ruler, a Kleenex box and a spool of fishing line into music.

He would be. Problem is that Fender can't market a shovel. If kids started idolizing this guy and began making their own instruments, where would that leave all of the big name guitar manufacturers? I'm pretty sure that even Gibson's custom shop wouldn't be interested unless they could get the patents on broom handles and cigar boxes.
Simply put, the music industry isn't going to promote this guy because all he has to sell is his music. That's why his fans have to do it. It doesn't cost a dime to forward this video to people who may have never heard of Justin Johnson. Unconventional artists need to take unconventional ways to the top.

This Guy is super cool. He really thinks and plays outside the box. I'm surprised that top country and rock bands don't use him on some of their songs for that different sound.

I am always amazed by the infinite creativity of the mind, heart, and soul of a true artist. I would love to hear Justin collaborate with Estas Tonne. It's all about sound, vibration, and frequency.
I've watched this about three times now over the last year or so, and every time I am blown away. The subtleties this guy employs to generate different sounds is awesome.

Before Justin, Jerry Reed, Mark Knopfler, and Chet Atkins were my guitar gods. Now...Justin! Robert Johnson may have given his soul to the Devil to play like he did, but this man is a blessing from Heaven!
Thank you for mentioning Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins. They were old school talent that never got recognized properly. This guy (Justin) should be way more famous for his talent. Just imagine looking at something and thinking, “I bet that would sound great with a string on it”.

I subscribed as soon as I heard the vintage 1840,s lap instrument.I was taught guitar many years ago by an older blind man who only played a 3 string guitar.It was a proud and sad day all at once.When I was asked to play his accompanying music at his funeral.I still have his 3 stringed vintage Harmony guitar to this day.Your sound is amazing and your talents are what I would have to say (any stringed instrument) is 2nd to none.
