    In this video I will discuss some things that I learned from copying Impressionist paintings. I will be applying to my painting of a bouquet of flowers.
    Materials: Carson XL 140 lb watercolor paper, Reeves gouache Lemon Yellow, Medium Yellow, Brilliant Red, Ultramarine, Emerald Green (from a set), M.Graham Artist Gouache Titanium White, synthetic brushes round (#3 and 4) and flat (1", 1/2" 1/4").

    I just came across your channel as I am just starting to work with this medium. Your painting is gorgeous and thank-you for taking the time to explain your process. I believe I have found the right channel for gouache painting as I am also in love with French impressionistic painting. Seeing this style in gouache is exactly what I would like to achieve. So glad to have found your channel!

    I have been looking for gouache floral videos like this. I love the impressionist style you use. I find most gouache artists do a simpler, more naive style of flower. I prefer this kind you have shared. Thank you!

      Thank you so much for watching the video and your nice comment, Debora! I know the style you are talking about, I think it's more suitable for illustration work. I painted with oils for a while, but didn't like the cleanup. I switched to gouache, in my opinion it gives us the best of both worlds - body and opaque application, but also the ability to easily make corrections.

      @@KseniaAnnis yes, you are absolutely correct about that illustrative style...I couldn't find the words to say that! I don't want to use oils because of the chemicals involved. You're work proves that gouache is a good alternative. Thank you.

    I love this so much! I’ve signed up for a couple of your classes but doing these first. Additionally, your color mixing is fascinating, not my best skill yet, so I’m watching that carefully also. Thank you.

    I love this so much. I’m new to gouache and was about ready to give up. An artist friend recommended you, and I am so grateful. Did you use watercolor for the initial background or was that gouache ?

    • @KseniaAnnis
      @KseniaAnnis  Před 21 dnem

      I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video! The initial blue background is a watercolor wash, used to just “kill the white of the paper”. Then I worked with gouache.
