I enjoyed watching this flower come to life. We have exactly this variety of Rose of Sharon outside a window. I love the ragged look of the petals and the tight darker center that seems to hold a secret heart. My Mother, when she was almost 100 years old, loved to stand in front of that window, leaning on her walker to admire the blooms that opened each day. She loved pink. Your painting captures the mystery of these beautifully ruffled flowers, the delicacy of their texture and color. I love your loose, suggestive style and your use of sharper detail in the flower itself to draw our eyes inward to explore the mystery of the flower.
