- In today's reaction to Naruto Shippuden we see how the allied shinobi forces' plan to take out Madara and Obito Uchiha plays out (spoiler alert: not well). Our ninja's unleash a flurry of jutsu according to a plan by Shikaku Nara, aka Shikamaru's dad. In a turn of events, Madara and Obito use the ten tails to take out the allied forces HQ. Shikamaru and Ino unfortunately lose their fathers and don't even have time to grieve. And just when we thought things couldn't get any worse, Neji Hyuga sacrifices himself to save Naruto. Just when it seems like Naruto is ready to fall into despair, he's brought back to reality by heartfelt words from Hinata. This really had to fight back the tears on this one.

It was an emotional roller-coaster that only went down.
The best way to get Naruto out of bad thoughts, his girl and bro give him a pep talk.
RIP Neji. he went out very similar to his father. He did it by his own choice as his father did for his brother, clan, and village. Neji save his friend who saved him from the darkness or you could say he changed Neji's perspective. Saving Naruto also saved his friends, his clan, the village and the world. love the reaction rhCrew! let's gooo!

Heavy feels episode Neji didnt deserve to go out like that. 9:27 And damn Obito throwing those words back him just twisting the knife.
lol part of the lore of being a naruto fan is being uneasy about Nejis death.....apparently he was supposed to die during the sasuke retrieval arc but western fans liked him so much Kishimoto kept him, how accurate that is, idk kinda makes sense though.
I've read that it was either due to his popularity or the his publishers being uneasy with so many children dying in a Shonen manga.
Could you imagine... shikamaru had to watch Asuma die, inu lost a master, then they both are forced to put their sensei down after being reunited. Then their fathers are killed. So much in such a short time , all the different emotions. I felt for them

By far the most unnecessary death in the series. Neji’s death will never sit right with me. Should have been Tenten or Kiba.
I think it wouldn't have been as impactful though if it was a character no one cared about.
Neji's death was unnecessary and anticlimactic, he didn't have any development even before he died, at least it would have been a dignified death but there was that boring atmosphere, he only appeared to die, a shame that many characters were not valued
It's a war, it would be anticlimatic if none of the main kids got killed off.
It make Naruto boost his power.
It wasn't 'unnecessary and anticlimatic'. There is no such thing as an "unnecessary death" in fiction, characters either die or they don't. And Neji did develop. He started out as pompous, bitter and narrow-minded, but changed as the series progressed into someone who literally fought to be a better person.
And his death wasn't anticlimactic, it was sudden. As it should be in the middle of a war.
