Shelter is a Wonderful Thing

Shelter is a wonderful thing, and when you've built shelter where there was once no shelter with your own hands, it's absolutely magical. Jordan wanted to put the first sheets of subroofing on the porch all by himself since I had been sick, because he wanted me to rest. We're new to building a house, but working off-grid has its own set of challenges. Jordan couldn't have said it better: "Something's not gonna be right. The question is, "what?" The answer: A lot.

We're Jordan and Barb, and we bought a hefty chunk of remote mountain forest in Alaska, sight unseen. We'd never even BEEN to Alaska.
