- Hey everyone! In this episode I am going to show you how to rewire your stock fuel pump to get more voltage to it which in turn will raise the stock fuel pumps pressure to help you out when you start to turn up the boost. Hope this video helps you with your project! - T.P.G.- Jared.
here is a link to the diagram to show you how to wire up your fuel pump to raise its voltage and output! : www.dsmtuners.com/threads/2g-... - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Awesome video man. This helped me out quite a bit with my 1g.
Thanks I'm glad it helped you out. The forums got me confused so I figured someone else would benefit from a visual aid👍
Thank you for this! Great video man. I need to rewire mine. Well I don't NEED too.. but I want to. LOL this is the best rewire vid for a 2g I've seen.
Thanks a lot! I'm glad it will help you out!. Honestly some of my content comes from CZcams searches that don't show as much information as I'd like. It's a pretty straightforward job once you get into it. And it will still work if you ever decide to upgrade to a walboro 190 or higher. Good luck with your rewire 👍
@@TPGDSM looks very straight forward! 👍 currently running a 255 and AFPR.. my tuner said It wouldn't hurt to rewire though. So i guess i could! It will give me something to do! Been a while since a modded anything I'm going crazy😭
@@PapaSmurf918Detail omg I know! I'm struggling to find projects myself! Lots of customer cars but not much more I can do to the dsm this week haha. Still looking for ecmlinkv3 cable and flash module for the ol girl.. got the ECU to really get into her but can't source the other goodies yet.
@@TPGDSM I was going to suggest ECMLINK V3.. 😄 sounds like you already got the plan! Glad you commented because not many people are into DSM's.. let alone know how to properly mod/take care of them. Lol those guys give us a bad name! 😄
Have you contacted them at ECMLINK?? I just sent my ECU to them and they did everything and sent it back. Plugged it in and turn key! Of course needed fine tuning but hey, it got me to my tuner just fine. No issues.
@@PapaSmurf918Detail see I have the chipped and socketed ecu already with dsmlink v2 chip, I did see for $545 they'll send you the flash module, cable and cd. Just looking around for a second hand system before I drop the 💰
Which one does the power from the battery connect to on the relay. I watched it and couldn’t find it. Thank you in advance!

👍👍
Would this bypass my a bad fuel pump relay ? I cant find mine at all and considered this method..
This is just re wiring the stock pump to supply a constant 12v power source to the fuel pump where stock the voltage fluctuates. Thicker gauge wire and it still utilizes the stock fuel pump relay signal to the secondary relay in the rewire kit. You could try it but if your not receiving the normal signal to the pump to turn it on I'd do some digging to see if a wire is broken or something else is wrong. It may be worth it to try but hard to say if it'd fix your problem.
Where did you sit the relay? Is it getting crushed under the rear seat? Or u found a good spot for it to sit in?
It's tucked under the fuel pump access cover nice and hidden👍
@@TPGDSM ahhh , ok ok, thanks
Question: where did you Relocate the new Relay??
the new relay is installed on the bottom side of the fuel pump cover panel. fit perfectly between the feed and return. if youre standing at the rear of the car its mounted about the 1 oclock position under the lid
Do you have to run dsm link with the 750 injectors and the rewire out well it be fine on its own
If you put $750 in your car, you have to run either a maf translator or safc or ecmlink to scale those injectors or you won't be able to start your car
Or the old school way- a custom chip written to an EPROM installed into a socketed single board ECU. Kinda like ECMlink but not fine tunable on the fly in real time. I used those with MMCD logging on a Palm Pilot for years and it worked great
Did you ground relay itself to chassis??
Yes. I used the bottom of the rear seat support bracket and a fat washer
I’m confused with your # from relay and the diagram on dsm tuners does not match what you did!
You snipped a blue/black wire and connected that to #30 on fuse but on dsm tuners link it says #30 is used for power feed from batterie???
I’ll look back into it and see what i did for ya. Not sure right now but once i pull the seats out after this front end upgrade I’ll let you know. All you need is power, ground, key on power or switched power and a signal wire. Check out the basic write ups on the relay you’re using. Wire front the front of the car is the key on signal, power comes from battery, ground goes to chassis
Where did you end up mounting the relay at my friend??? Curious. 🤔
To the lid of the fuel pump access. Worked out perfect. Just had to insulate some stuff to
Keep it safe
@TPGDSM Sweet! Thank you good sir!
@@PapaSmurf918Detail anytime man!. I used a small bracket and machine screws. Along with extra EXTRA heat shrink on the connections. And replacing/adding a rubber flat washer under the locking ring.
@TPGDSM OK cool. Was worried about the seat and it causing any issues but the extra heat shrink was. Good idea!
Did you notice an increase in voltage to the pump.. I have some 12 gauge wire plenty and want to rewire. Wondering of I should get some 10 gauge or if there is really a difference lol. What do you think?
I have a 420a which is not priming the fuel pump. I put a new pump snd relay in and it still won’t kick on, I’m not getting any fuel to the injectors, would a rewire like this help fix the problem? Sorry if I botched the message any help is greatly appreciated the car was running fine. It’ll wanna turn over but it’s not getting any fuel and I believe spark as well
if you have no spark and no fuel id bet its either the crank position sensor or cam position sensor. once those stop working the ecu cuts ignition spark and fuel because it doesnt know where the crankshaft is in relation to the piston in its stroke or the cam in its rotation. The ecu needs to see where the crank and cam is in order to inject fuel and ignite it inside the combustion stroke. Try checking out the wiring to each of those sensors and replace if needed. If that doesnt solve your problem i would check for power with a multi meter at the fuel pump harness and work back from there
@@TPGDSM thank you! I have a new crankshaft sensor in but it didn’t do anything different but I’d have to see about the camshaft sensor. Any tips on testing them with a multimeter?
@@bravesoulsgarage6799 try this
My.prostreetonline.com/2016/11/test-eclipse-cam-sensor/
@@bravesoulsgarage6799 try checking the fuel pump ground which should be on the firewall near the brake fluid resivoir. Should be black plug and a grey plug next to it. You want the black one. Unplug and check to see if it's broken/wet and plug it back in then try to start. You have spark,?
@@bravesoulsgarage6799 you could also replace your ASD relay (which is directly next to the fuel pump relay by the brake fluid resivoir. Some folks have no luck until they both get replaced from what I can find.
So I did my fuel pump rewire and followed every step of your video and when I started my car and shut it off the car kept running key out and everything I have to unplug the ground to get it to shut off anything you can think of?
I would double check my relay connections, double check you've tapped the same wires as me. Something isn't right there 🤔
Also check that you have a clean power and ground
@@TPGDSM I redid the power and ground put all the connections the way you did on the relay and it’s still doing it
@@brettlacey5502 gst or Gsx?
@@TPGDSM spyder gst
Why other people combine the relay different to your video for example! 30 B +, 85 ground, 87 direct to the pump connector blue and black cable, 86 to the blue and black cable (harness of the car) Im really confuse lool trying to do this for my GSX 2g
Here try this link
Two of the pins are switchable power I believe. Follow this diagram www.google.com/search?q=2g+dsm+fuel+pump+rewire+relay+diagram&oq=2g+dsm+fuel+pump+rewire+relay+diagram&aqs=chrome..69i57.10002j0j4&client=ms-android-google&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#imgrc=xGAcbYVOi8nXiM
which number on the relay you connect the battery cable B it's hard to identify lool
Stock wire harness gets cut, the wire leading to the harness going back into the car goes to 86, the other end of the wire that got cut going to the fuel pump goes to 87, the positive battery wire with inline fuse goes to 30, chassis ground goes to 85
So at the end 5v signal from the ecu goes through 86 and to the pump through 87 which triggers the the relay to pull ground with 85 allowing 12v constant power to come in and power the fuel pump through 30
Hi! I did the same wiring for my gst 98 and my car now does not want to start :/
Gst may have a different colored wire to tie in to. Check the connections, lookup which is the OEM fuel pump relay wire and verify all connections. Make sure your inline fuse is installed. Check fuel pump prime with key on.
#30 (blue wire) - feed wire from battery. #87A (red wire) - NOT USED. #87 (yellow wire) - when cutting stock 12V pump wire, this is to the pump side. #86 (black wire) - when cutting stock 12V pump wire, this is to the car side. #85 (white wire) - chassis ground.
My eclipse already work. I think washing the transmission and left some wet connectors and that's why I did not want to activate. Thank you for your help, the wiring that excellent.
The wiring also works for my gst 98
Does it stay on?
No it doesn't stay on. Folks have had an issue from improperly installing the wires to the incorrect pins on the relays. Verify that everything is installed correctly to the correct pins and try again. The OEM fuel pump trigger wire you splice in to the relay signals the pump on with key on, and signals the pump off with key off on the other connecting of the OEM trigger wire. The relay is chassis grounded and 12v hardwired.
Does it still work?
Still running strong with added walbro 255
how much power can the stock fuel pump handle with a rewire?
Each cars a little different but I'd say after a re-wire and some data logging you would be alright going up from 12psi slowly untill you get bad afr's or knock. The other quick fix is a 190lph walboro which can run without an adjustable fuel pressure regulator but ends up being on the rich side. You may want to just throw the afpr and walboro 255 at it like we're going to do over here shortly. The pumps are easily accessible from the back seat and new 255's are only about$100 sometimes less on certain websites.
@@TPGDSM awesome thanks for the reply man! i already have an adjustable fpr and im waiting for a 255 to pop up on eBay for cheap. a tuner near me sells and installs them for about 75 brand new. thanks for your help!!
@@southproduct7463 you should save the 75 bucks and do it yourself. It's one plug and one lock ring. Just look up the wiring on dsm tuners and set your fuel pressure to 38lbs
@@TPGDSM it's 75 total to buy and he installs it for free. he's a well known Honda tuner in my area but he does other stuff like that. thanks for the advice though!
@@southproduct7463 sounds like a hell of a deal then. Wish I had a good shop like that near by. Upstate NY is kind of quiet on the tuner scene. Good luck with the project though!
In the beginning you said a 30 amp relay, but later in the video you used 40 amp
Yes I did end up using a 40 amp relay during my install BUT as said earlier it's recommend to use a 30amp as to not melt your wiring. The pins are still the same between the two realys for the videos reference sake. HOWEVER I wouldn't recommend you do it to your ride. I guess it's more of a "do as I say not as I do" thing. I'll bet your mom never bought you glasses as a kid huh 😂 👍
I used a 40 amp relay and all the same gauge wires as you so I hope for the best
