I’m 63. I sure do miss the days of having a house full of children, cooking non stop, and sleeping hard at night. Now I have more time to keep things super organized and tidy. More time to explore new crafts. Rearranging my furniture instead of buying new. Enjoy every minute. Time FLIES!!!

Same here. I’m 65 and I miss cooking for all my boys. When they were all still at home of course there were times when I wanted to stay in bed a little longer or when supper didn’t come out right. Times when the thought of cleaning up yet another mess or a diaper that exploded right when I was finally ready to get everyone loaded into the car would bring me to the verge of tears. I reminded myself then that those days, both good and bad would be behind me sooner than I could imagine and I would miss all of it, which has come to pass. (Ok, I don’t miss poopy diapers.) Sometimes when you’re in the middle of one of those days you have to remind yourself that it’s character building. 😅

I got off FB after the birth of my second child (now expecting #8!). More than just something for me, it was a gift to my children. It was a gift of my time and attention, setting my priorities intentionally, making sure the kids aren’t just interruptions to the FB never ending scroll. But the part I think they appreciate, is their childhoods remained private and protected. It was a struggle to retrain my brain and break some habits, but I’ve never regretted it.

I got married in 1985 at age 22. I miss the days of no technology. Life was busy, but slower. I had more time to clean, organize, craft, cook, all the things I love. In the mid 90’s I started working full time, but cellphones still weren’t a thing. Then the 2000’s came and my job required that I have a smartphone with me at all times. It still does. I am overwhelmed. I just want to slow down again, now that I’m 61, but i have to keep working. So now I’m addicted to CZcams videos. I need to cut way way back, and concentrate on me and my home again. Thank you for reminding me of simpler times. It’s so nice to hear that as a younger person you feel this too and recognize it. I used to think that too but we never truly know what somebody else's life looks like. For some people, that is the only spare moment in their day when they can text back a long distance friend or family member, order groceries online, book a doctors appointment, complete school enrolments, pay bills, research the best 'xyz' for my kids, healthy recipes, run their online business, etc. Smart phones can be bad but they can also be good. My homemaking changed when I watched the video ,"When there's not enough time to get it all done". During that video I realized I watch and look for short cuts to help me get it all done and that was robbing me of valuable time to love my home and my family. I now have 2 CZcamsrs I watch and one is Farmhouse On Boone. I love everything about Lisa's content and I'm refreshed and look forward to serving my family afterwards. I'm a Grandmother now and Homemaking was always so easy and rewarding before the Computers and Smart phones came along. I have a nice refreshing drink and sit down to watch Lisa. If there's not a new video out, I'm GOOD, I watch " When there's not enough time to get it all done again'. I've continued to realize each week through going along with your day and cooking that I raised 4 children and many others kids throughout my early years without having to have every other persons tips, tricks etc. Lisa I love your personality and Videos, even the music( that makes your videos so enjoyable for me. I thought back to a time when my two were young and we did everything for “free-ninety-nine!” I used my son’s wagon and I’d pull them to the library, to the park for a picnic, to the yearly dance festival in our town, and so much more! It only required effort to just do it. That was over thirty-five years ago! I miss those days of sandboxes, homemade tents, dress up and jello jigglers. I hold those memories fiercely. It was SO simple. Then the years of homeschooling ( which we are still in) and then the teens and young adults and now marrieds with children of their own.....So much change in our home and in the world. I rarely read the news anymore or try to follow a whole bunch of 'friends' on social media. There is so much in my own home and extended family, gardens, animals, and neighborhood that keep our life full and beautiful that extra just becomes overwhelming. I just pray for ,and take my peace about, alllll the crazy and tragedies I hear about anyway. May all of your homes and lives continue to prosper with the peace of God ruling in your hearts as you put one foot in front of the other and do life with joy as only He can give.❤

This is good advice and soooo true! I try to remember- that God works in our 'real life'. God has put those people in our life, and those are the relationships God wants us to invest in, or those are the people we should pray for. We can of course also pray for the things not in our lives- absolutely! I'm just saying we do not have to deliberately seek that out, with overconsumption of social media, news etc. we should not be so self minded. But we also need to be aware that this IS what God has given you to care for, to foster.

I wish we could go back to the days before social media when having little children revolved around the stroller and going to the park, library reading hours, baking in the house and reading books before afternoon naps, among other things.

I've asked you so many times where you get all your energy from and today you revealed your source. Yeah! I was QUICK to order for both my husband and myself. Thank you so much for sharing! I do pray that I am regenerated so that I can get back to doing all those wonderful things I love to do. I don't have children living with us, they are all grown and have children of their own, but I do have a rather large garden, chickens, and several acres of land to tend to, while still maintaining our home. And I've noticed the older I got the more my energy was zapped. NO MORE!!! Thanks Lisa.

I sure do enjoy your videos. You are such a capable homemaker. My oldest daughter is your age and childless by choice. I lost both of my sisters to suicide decades ago and I sure miss them. Today and made an apple pie, two butternut squash pies (with my homegrown squash), a triple batch of strawberry jam (from my homegrown strawberries), and made up a bunch of pie crusts to have on hand in the freezer. I have a large, organic garden in the mountains of Ecuador. My youngest child is still at home and I am enjoying having two small grandchildren.

You definitely gave us food for thought. Personally I am not on FB, Twitter, or Instagram and I am the exception to the rule. I recently visited for a few days with my childhood friend of 61 years (70 now) and she is glued to her tablet and scrolling the minute she sits down. I decided this time I would say something to her. So I told her I didn't come to spend time watching her scrolling looking at what other people were doing when I was right in front of her. She stopped, but I'm sure the minute she went to bed she was on Facebook scrolling. It's like an addiction. You have a wonderful family and extended family which guarantee's there will be plenty of kids around. I've been watching your sister's channel and she is just so sweet.

Agree with everything but also isolation. Many moms of my generation are dealing with having children and not having a community or freinds or even family to engage with often. We often turn to our phones for socialization which is never enough. We need human interaction. It’s so hard these days to make friends these days because of how polarized this country is.

We weren’t isolated. We were working at home loving our family

It makes sense to me now, when you explain it about wanting your kids to come home after they grow up. Mine don't, which breaks my heart. I have three children, one is my son-in-law and I have two grandchildren, which is all I will ever have. I rarely see any of them anymore and often wonder where I went wrong. I was a single working mother with little time or energy for socializing or creating that party "vibe" at home, so it makes sense now. I didn't fail...I did the best I could. Many other factors led to the aloneness in my life but realizing that because of circumstances beyond my control it was out of my hands as a young mom. Thanks for the insight Lisa it helps a lot moving forward...and throwing parties!!! 😉

I hope that continues and that I will be graced with grandchildren some day. I never thought about the FOMO angle, but they totally echoed that when I brought it up to them! 😂. It was very validating and I know that you are doing all the right things to create that for yourself as your kids move forward. ❤

I was lucky enough to be a stay-at-home Mom when my kids were youngsters, and we could have our meals together sitting at the dining room table. It was there that we exchanged thoughts and views along with worthy discussions. What I see now in society, is Mom's having to get a job to supplement the household income so they can have a roof over their head and food on the table. The cost of living is so high, staying at home is not an option anymore for many.

Yes, I know exactly what you’re talking about! My daughter and son are 15 1/2 years age difference. Two totally different upbringings, with my daughter I was suddenly a single mom when she turned four years old. I always tried to keep it normal, or what she was used to as best as I could. Evenings and weekends were our quality time together.
My son ( from my second and present marriage) were a different ballgame. I was a stay at home mom, plus I moved to England, having come from Maryland, moving to a different country was a social change as well. I think living in a rural area has helped immensely, simpler way of life, less of hustle and bustle way of life by at least 10 years.
With my daughter, unfortunately, I had to go back to work and as I said in the beginning of the comments, tried to give her the quality of time as I could. I found I was made to feel like supermom, being pulled in so many directions. Thank heavens my daughter was resilient and loving, we have such a lovely relationship, as well.
As I said with my son, I was a stay at home mom until he was 4 years old and I started a part time job as a nursery school assistant. Perfect hours, had off when he did, plus it was next door to his elementary school. I would go with him to shops, libraries and swimming and especially for walks ( we have three commons ( walking trails surrounded by woods ) in my village.
Fortunately, with my son, I wasn’t pulled in every conceivable direction going, wasn’t belittled for being a stay at home mom, like I was when I had to go back to work when my daughter was little, after being a stay at home mom for four years. What used to get my goat, what full time job did you do, said I stayed at home and raising my daughter! The amount of times I heard, that’s not real work, or a proper job! That’s when I walked out on the interview!
Anyway, I know exactly what you mean and like yourself, I’m still a work in progress, I guess I tell myself, pick and choose my battles and find some me time, even if it’s ten minutes to just chill. I find myself more chilled and not so much of an overload!
