Absolute classic. This was supposed to be an instructional video, but ended up more like a Monty Python sketch

Good review and demo. Thanks for showing most of the options, including TRS and TS guitar/1/4 cables, and explaining how they test differently as well as WHY!

Thanks for the review. Those are horrible XLR cable ends, I have replaced so many of them, I have the Pyle PCT60 cable tester, the big daddy version of this cable tester, works about the same but more connectors. I usually replace the ends of these XLR's when they go bad with some much better ends and they have a 2nd life. If you try soldering they usually just break again. I don't ever buy those XLR cables but they have come with some of my lights, like the American DJ pars.

Your explanation of the TS Jack was crucial because I’m using another device (not the same brand or model) and it does not have a clear explanation of why pins one and three are connected - but it’s because as you said the sleeve and the ring are the same … whatever you said … but it was quite useful to know that.

That's indeed a very useful device.
I used to buy a new guitar cable sometimes in the past, because my electric guitar was always crackling whenever I moved a little bit. Turns out that it was the output jack on the guitar that had worn out over time. I replaced it recently, and now it's a tight fit again. But I have a bunch of older cables now that could use some testing.

Often a good quality contact cleaner will help with that, and sometimes you can bend the connectors internally on the jack to make better contact, if you want to avoid replacing it. But yes, this tester works REALLY well, and has paid for itself over and over again.

Ouch! Hope that didn't leave a scar! I need to wire my pedal board and one of these can sure come in handy. Very helpful video, thanks!

It left a burn scar for a couple weeks, but it went away. Sure did hurt, though! :)

Learn not to have your hot soldering iron tangled up with other wires!

@@ScottsSynthStuff I was doing some cables yesterday and ran into that problem... I was lucky not to toss the iron a couple times tbh. Hope your finger's fine!

I think you're talking about the synths shown in the end card? Those were on display at the Sweetwater headquarters, and from the looks of them, they are the same stands that I have - OnStage.
