    I was on the fence concerning making a purchase. Just got into film and wished to use a medium format camera. Your review just made me pull the trigger. You have startlingly good double exposures and pictures considering the camera you used ! A lot better than even knew I've seen taken using digital cameras. Thank you for your video

    I’m so happy I’ve stumbled across your videos & channel. Your photos are stunning & I consider them a muse. I’ve been on a deep dive & researching Holga cameras & models & want to purchase my first one. I was fortunate to get to acquainted with one over the summer, for a photography class I took at the college I attend. Now I want my own. I’ve been learning so much & it enthuses me to shop around. Have you had a chance to play around with the Holga 120 TLR? Though it seems kind of excessive. I’m torn between that & the model you own. 🤔

    • @camerasncats
      @camerasncats  Před rokem +1

      Wow, thank you so much for watching and for your kind words! I'm definitely a little obsessed with the Holga haha. I haven't tried the Holga 120 TLR yet but it doesn't seem too crazy different. I guess it's more a matter of how you prefer to take photos. Personally, I find TLR cameras a little more difficult to use just because it takes longer to frame the photo. I like how easy and quick it is to take a photo with the GCFN. But I do like the way the TLR looks - it has a fun, unique vibe, for sure!

    yo ! nice photos !
    also sun and cloud actually change nothing ... ? if you open the camera and go check the arm that trigger the sun/cloud option, it actually got nothing in front of it, it 's a square, intended to be used as a yellow/orange/red filter for black and white photography... weird eh ?

  • @blackdogwildtrails3123

    Some great images there. Surprising how many photographers rate the Holga. I think Ted Forbes 'Art of Photography' says its one of his favourites too. The only Holga I had was the 35mm BC35. The images were terrible but not in a good way. I'm sure it was faulty. My main Lomography camera of choice is the original Soviet Lomo LC-A. I also have a Lubitel Medium format and Cosmic Symbol from that era and factory. Must try a Holga 120 soon.

I have a 35mm Holga too but something about the 120 just feels right to me. You should definitely try one if you get the chance!

    • @camerasncats
      @camerasncats  Před měsícem

      Thanks so much for watching! I usually use 100-400 ISO for the Holga so you can get a bit more sharpness. If it’s a sunny day and I know I’m going to be in bright light, I use 100 or 200 ISO. If it’s a bit cloudy out or I might be in the shade, I’ll take 400 ISO. You can check out my Amazon store for the different film stocks I recommend. You can find the link in the video description! Hope that helps! ✨😊✨

      Hi there! I scan my film onto my computer using an Epson V750 and then I store my photos on a website called Smugmug. Then I use their app to download to my phone. :) You could also ship your film to a film lab and have them process the film for you and send you digital files. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

    • @camerasncats
      @camerasncats  Před 4 lety +1

      Bbabi lemon yes that’s definitely something to get used to - but I think that’s part of the magic, because then you end up doing double or triple exposures on accident. Next time if you aren’t sure, just take a photo anyway and then continue onto the next frame and maybe you’ll end up with a double exposure! I usually advance the film right after I take the image so I don’t forget. Thank you for commenting and watching! ✨☺️

      @@camerasncats oh okay good info 🤔 Also, I am wondering if u would know how to wind an expired film without numbers or dots on to it. Reason why I don't know if it's the next frame already is because there are no marks 😂 maybe it faded already since it's expired 1996.

    How did you “treat” pictures after you shoot them? I have Holga GCFN, shoot just one film yet (mostly in good weather conditions), but none on my pictures are close to “sharpness” of yours (and more from other Holga reviews). Is it photo lab or just me?

    • @camerasncats
      @camerasncats  Před 3 lety +1

      Have you checked the bottom of the camera to make sure it’s on the “N” setting and not the “B” setting? Also, I try to make sure to hold the camera very still when pressing the shutter. I also mainly use 400 iso film. That gives me good sharpness but also let’s in a decent amount of light. The camera definitely works better on sunny days and doesn’t work super well in deep woods / too much shade. I scan the negatives myself so I’m able to get high resolution scans. If you’re doing all of those things, the images should be decently sharp. If they aren’t, I would make sure your lab is sending you high-resolution scans. Hope that helps!! ☺️☺️☺️ Thank you for watching! ✨

      @@camerasncats Thank you for this advice! I read about it couple days ago and you’re the second person who mentions this. These cameras (Holga, Diana F+) are very simple but also tricky. And in here I don’t have much photo labs who process 120mm film :(
      Btw. I love Smena 8m. Try this if u haven’t (135mm).

    After I took a shot am I supposed to advance it?

    • @camerasncats
      @camerasncats  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, after each shot you advance slowly until the next number appears through the film counter on the back. Unless you want to do a double exposure, in which case you would not advance the film until after you’ve taken two photos on the same frame. Hope that helps! :) Thanks for watching!
