I've heard the Toyota F1 V10 in a city, the MC12, Murcielago, Aston, Gt2 Porsche, the Alfa, old Ferrari F1, on a race track. They are all absolutely awesome but let me tell you, that V10 in the city... I still hear that screaming in my ears 20 years later. But the open wheel cars have a huge advantage in weight, weight distribution, and downforce. Where full bodied cars may have max 1000kg of downforce, the open wheelers have something closer to 3000kg in comparison. They're essentially stuck to the ground and don't lose much speed in corners. Watching open wheeled cars irl is incredible, because it seems like they don't ever slow down.

I'd add or replace some of these for much better sounding cars (in my opinion), such as the Peugeot 905, Sauber Mercedez C9, Lola Aston Martin B09, Matra MS650, or Jaguar XJR-14.
Again, I’m convinced the fasted cars should be made to work for their win. Reverse grid is required for races of cars with such disparity of performance. Though it’s still great.

The best sounding car I've personally heard is the 1989 Ferrari 640 F1 car. 1999 Ferrari 333 SP and 1967 McLaren M6A are a close second and third.
I love how Jeff Gordon showed his utmost respect for track limits in the process of getting past that Alfa on the last lap.
