  • Teaching and learning has been distrupted at least in nine schools in Marite near Hazyview in Mpumalanga.
Parents claim the department of education closed Halemela Secondary School, without consultation with them, after it was attacked by criminals at gunpoint in June.
Criminals made away with school equipment and furniture, a teacher's vehicle, personal belongings of teachers and learners, among other things.
This was the second attack, just this year.
Then, parents closed all the schools in the area since last week, demanding the reopening of the Halemela Secondary school.
