I LOVE salads as well. This seems almost too simplistic, so now I'm curious and feel I must try it.
I can attest to what Laura stated about not knowing there are anchovies in the dressing. I don't eat any fish or seafood because I cannot stand it. I can smell iodine and bromine in all seafood and fish. But ground anchovy is just salty and umami, not fishy at all. If you leave it out and add more salt it won't have the intensity of flavor and that je ne sais quoi.
If you avoid fish for allergies or vegetarianism then of course you would not add the anchovies. But if it's just a dislike of fish, I urge you to try adding them.

AeroDoe I have to agree with Frodo (lol). Your comment makes me feel a bit more at ease when it comes to seeing anchovies (or the paste) on menus or using it at home. I will give it a shot one of these days! :)

I just wanted to assure picky eaters like me that it's not fishy. I would not believe someone who liked fish if they said it wasn't fishy. It has to come from someone who's as picky as I am!

Laura, about 6 years ago my family went on a wonderful vacation to italy. We went to rome, pisa, vatican city (saw easter mass at the vatican!!!!!), florence, sicily, and venice. Everywhere we went I kept ordering spaghetti scolio (not sure on the spelling) it was spaghetti with a red sauce that was like a marinara but a little spicy and had seafood in it. HELP ME OUT!! I need a recipe that will cure my cravings!! I'm pregnant and all I want is this pasta lol

Hey Laura! I've been a long time viewer of yours. I absolutely love all of the material that you put out; from the recipes, to the make-up reviews, and of course the hilarious and fun vlogs. I was wondering if maybe you could do a "no-sodium" chicken recipe. Something with a sauce or glaze.
Because of my medical condition I can't have sodium, and I'm getting really bored with making the same old roasted chicken breast. lol Or if you have any recommendations for any good no sodium cook books, I would really appreciate it!
Hi Jackie, just to give you a little idea for a chicken recipe, you could use rosemary. That herb works amazing with children and it tastes delicious. You can do rosemary, garlic, pepper and a little bit of lime and it will rock your world! Lol have a great day!

I love anchovies...the first time I ever had anchovies I was 6 years old on pizza with green peppers, black olives, and basil. It was love at first bite. I know this salad will rock my world too.

theres a really good halumi cheese salad that i absolutely love and really want the recipe for. at the restaurant they fry the cheese and serve it hot it is beyond, as well as grape tomatoes served hot as well and some other vegies.

This salad sounds amazing! I have something for you to help me recreate.....FISH TACOS! I ate at a restraunt earlier this year and ordered thier fish tacos. I've literally craved them ever since. It was a flaky white fish (don't know which kind) that was battered in some type of tempura batter and lightly fried. It was topped with a creamy grilled corn coleslaw, I could taste celery seed in it. Also had fresh cilantro. Oh. My. Gosh. It was simply delicious! I'd love to see your take on this wonderful dish!

I made this tonight but used romaine lettuce( no escarole at the store) it's in the fridge waiting on my salmon to finish cooking. It's a very pretty salad, very simple to make.
Well, i can't say I didn't try it, I did - today. I can see why most people find it so interesting, but I did not enjoy this at all. Dijon+anchovie paste+that qty of olive oil+so much parm makes it very tangy. These flavours did not marry well on my tongue. Needed something more fresh than just the mint in there, and maybe a little sweet as well - like some chopped apple or smth.

Escarole is a rarity here, so I use a mix of butter lettuce and curly endive for salads.....This is a fine recipe in all its simplicity.
