Was a late night here with everyone out with phone cameras 📷 😅
Superb display in Bigrigg, West Cumbria
How exciting! I would be in heaven to see that in person.
Much less interesting to the human eye. The camera brings it out much better than my eyes did. I’m not sure why, maybe someone can explain.
@@ThatMicro43Guy I didn’t realize they were visible here in Michigan last night. My Facebook is flooded with photos. I missed it.
@@AprilClayton I only realised this morning that they were visible in the US when I saw a post on Natasha & Debbie’s FB page saying they’d seen them in Ohio
@ThatMicro43Guy The retinas in our eyes have two kinds of light detector: rods and cones. Cones gives us high-resolution colour vision. When darkness falls, our eyes adapt by activating increasing numbers of rods over some tens of minutes. The rods are much more sensitive and enable vision in very low light, but respond only to intensity and not to colour, so our low-light vision is largely monochrome.
As usual, I enjoyed your video and am pleased to report that Friday night's spectacle was well visible here in Murton, Cumbria. While I could see some colour, my Lumix G90 naturally recorded rather more.
@@JamesHardman-ug4qt thank you for that. I’m now suitably educated. Glad you got some good shots up home.
Just as good all the way down in Berkshire!
Not in Florida 😂
Ah, but you have glorious sunshine most days (I’m not envious, really I’m not…….ok, yes I am lol)
@@ThatMicro43GuyDon’t be. It can be beautiful, but it’s sweltering nine months out of the year, is increasingly prone to hurricanes and floods, and has an insane governor. Trust me, you’re better off in Blighty.

@@ThatMicro43Guy It was fun, back in the Eighties. What I can remember of it.
