- How I changed the lower transmission linkage bushing which results in play in the shifter and may prevent the car from starting in park or neutral. It usually the lower blushing which is a problem, although the upper one exists but needs to be accessed through the interior of the car. REMEMBER TO PUT THE PARK BRAKE ON AND CHOCK THE CAR! It took about half hour as I was lying on my back under car stands, without a hoist! Note I am an hobbyist not a mechanic so manage as you see fit

Thanks for posting this!
The metal clip has been redesigned to be much easier to clip on, well worth the $2.75 because the old design is very hard to put on
Thanks for the tip. Do you have the part number?
It looks like the arm would line up better if it came through the hole from the opposite direction. Pointing towards the transmission instead of away from it.
Are them bushes and clips same sizes for Auto aswell as Manual?? I have a 1984 merc w123 240d. Im really struggling to find bushes on Ebay for manual so just wondering if they are all the same.. let me know please
Thanks
not sure sorry Adrian, but seeing they only cost about 5 bucks, maybe buy one and compare? if you dont have the tool to put in, they can be a bit tough to install!
what's the name of the tool?
Hi John. You texted me re the 116 meeting in Perth. I'll message you but I bought off ebay for 30 dollars
You have a link to that tool
Ah crap. My car has to be really pushed in to PARK to start so I reckon I’ve his job ahead of me
not a difficult job Aaron with the tool. without it could be a bit of messing around though!
