I had a game as Gneisenau the other day. Stuck with a secondary commander. Two Brothers map, sudden death caps. Team was giving me shit for hanging back, "running away" as six or more of the enemy team were pushing up the east side. We were much weaker on this side and it was obvious. I didn't want to be THAT Gneisenau player who suicides into the teeth of half the enemy team just so he can get his torps off.
I watched as three of my teammates went one by one into open water to get devoured by this onslaught. I hid behind an island and DD smoke, drawing the enemy team in. Once they were close enough I charged and was able to take out a BB, a CA, and a DD on my own in less than 90 seconds before I was destroyed. Almost took out a second BB, was moments from having the torps ready.
I almost cleared that flank BY MYSELF. We still ended up losing because our team decided to chase after the enemy CV instead of capping. But we could have won, and it was obvious to me that my decision to hang back and wait to strike the weakened enemy ships as they rushed our cap was pivotal enough that we COULD have snatched victory back because of it... alas.
The closest I get to playing Ranked now is watching videos about it.

I love that at 7:40 you get pinged by a teammate as you're literally in the most decisive position on your team, just sunk the Nevsky, are spotting the Thunderer, and about to put the DM in a deadly crossfire.
I think that's because (reading in game chat,) they figured out who he was.

Could have lived with "dead eye", if they hadn't all but removed hits and damage from secondaries. They are basically just visual effects for show, and not viable weapons. Maybe with the long reloads of the tankiest ships, no secondaries or anti-air, we need a good target colored cammo.
Love your videos. I found myself always questioning my ability in the game being a Battleship player only. I've been noticing I am on top of the scoreboards at the end of a match, but still feel like mistakes were made.
battleships are definitely game changing ships, like every other type, but most have the armor to tank a lot of damage. This vid was a perfect example of that. Obviously, Kremlin is a very strong ship, but still. Like Potato said, its all about knowing when to push and when to play passive. Enemy team is pushing your flank? Kite and mitigate damage. Keep pressure on them while staying enough distance away. Slow their push down. You can't stop it (usually) so do the next best thing, slow em down. Enemy team this game is pushing the opposite flank? Push hard on yours and create a crossfire. Early game positioning is extremely important because BB's are slow. Unless you sail the Georgia or most French BB's lol.
I guess you are the only streamer of wows, who really cares about Kremlin and makes considerably more thoughtful builds! Thnx for that, as this needed ship deserves to be taken into account.

Playing Yamato in ranked and having decent success. Teammates seem to get frustrated that I don't push more, but that's not really the strength of Yamato. Dealing massive amounts of damage generally is. Making other BBs think twice about pushing up, Dev Strikes on radar cruisers, and I usually even try to hit DDs when able, because like you said, every bit of damage on them matters. Had a ranked battle in a Musashi once where I used myself as bait and soaked up so much fire that the red team focused on me to the point where my team capped all points and ambushed the reds from both flanks. In the end, I used Musashi's good armor to my advantage and we won lol.
13:54 all the RU BB's have some of the highest engine horsepower tier-for-tier. They all have that great acceleration. I'm only on SinOP but that special Russian engine power has saved me from many torpedoes, even without propulsion mod.
i think whats really important is, simply to be more patient. Even if you re in a battleship, concealment is still a thing and just because you can shoot does not mean you ll need to. Yesterday i had a ranked battle in my alsace and our team was splitting up and then i noticed the enemy is lemming training on my side of the map. so i decided to hold fire, stay undetected, put on speed boost and straight up go as far east as i can. Enemys where on like 8 line. my team was on 6-7 and i went to 10 all on my own. it was just me.. and then i started to shoot everyone and we won and i ended the match with 95% of my hp. i could literally free fire the entire game because all of the enemy turrets where facing the opposite side to where my actual team was. Some really agressive french flanking. But if i had opened up fire earlier it prob would not have worked since they would have seen me coming

My battleship play style.... ricochet, ricochet, non penitration, citadel. Ricochet, crazy dispersion no hit,non penitration, ricochet, hit for 4500 ...burned almost to death before being torpedoed.......
this is near exactly how I play Krem on this map so it's good to see it endorsed
The camo on the Kremlin... . . Makes me think of the submarine in "Down Periscope". Awesome game though... . .
Thankyou for all the amazing videos you make but I have a ? for you, could explain the difference between commanders, seasoned commanders and legendary commanders and there benefits.
Not a Pq, but here is your answer
Commander = any captain you have on a ship
Seasoned commander - obtainable through events/armory, unlike normal one it has usually 2 commander skills buffed compared to normal ones (like +400hp/tier instead +350hp/tier with Ovechkin, faster turret turning, faster ammo type switch, better fire chance on demolition expert ...)
Legendary commander - on top of seasoned one he has "special abilities", that are triggered by something happening/achieving throughout the battle. They are:
- Sansonetti (IT), Lutjens (KM), Kuznecov (RU), Halsey (US), Yamamoto (IJN), Ayubonneu (FR), Swirsky (EU), and Cunningham (RN). They have 2-3 of special abilities like higher range after first kill (Sansonetti), faster reload after certain amount of hits (Swirsky, Lutjens), +1 consumables when scoring "first blood" award (Kuznerov, Cunningham) ... and lots of others, up to extrra long heal after Kraken in Yamamoto. Look up the list and maybe look up some videos on youtube with these, cause they can be pretty powerfull when played right in a right game.

It happens to me. Lasts about about 5 seconds
try switching off anti aliasing and V sync, if those 2 dont help, try repairing your client or getting a fresh install

One the biggest things about most battleship players these days is it feels like they "don't want to do damage". They put themselves in situations aim at targets that they would do the least amount of damage. I've watched ships spam AP at nose in targets instead of shooting the broadships that are within their range. I had a game where a GK was in the middle of the open full broadside to all of my battleships, and none of them shot at him because two of them were hiding behind and island shooting a nose in battleship and the other one was too busy shooting the same ships but running. I did half his health in a petro but died because the enemy was focusing me.
I have been saying this a lot recently but people aren't "using their ships". It's kind of aggravating and I typically play my petro to offset this because it does so much damage to broadsides and can kill dds. Battleships just need to stop hiding and keep themselves available for all targets, not just tunnel visioning one.
Every shot is a citadel? What is that? Is it new mechanic? I'm playing with my German battleship line and I'm not sure if I saw BB out of all ships being able to citadel other ship.

I quit playing when they relaunched CV's but I used to preach this in the forums all the time. I would push a cap supporting a destroyer. I always had HE loaded for my first shot because chances are it is going to be an enemy DD that you get first crack at and if you can knock off 8-10k and incapacitate a bunch of modules he is done. Target priority two is cruisers, if I can keep them off my DD's giving them operational freedom my team would have a higher chance to win. Target priority three is the lowest health ship I can shoot at. A ship with 5 hit points with all guns intact is just as dangerous as a full health ship. Don't let them slink away and heal up....get them out of the game. The least priority target is enemy battleships, I now they can yield some big damage numbers but if I did my job right the destroyers on my team will feast on the enemy battleships and I might even get a fat broadside opportunity as they are dodging torps.

First thing I do every match In ranked I ask ab or bc because you need to pick a flank to push can't get whole map till you win
It is very much dependent on having a good DD player on your team.

Honestly i play GK and nowdays i just facerush and see where it goes.
The deadeye meta is so boring i CBA to sit at 20km and do 1 overpen per salvo, while beeing set on fire till i die.

@@Malossianoplus I have both and honestly I prefer Conqueror more, I like the bigger broadside and ability to push up better over Thunderer

How do you know your AA's hp?
go to your settings, controls, others, show ship status and press that button while your in game
it shows things like aa hp secondary hp detection in smoke detection in smoke after firing your guns ect

What mini map are you using?
Press +/- to change size of mini-map. Click settings icon to set transparency of mini-map. And to turn on/off various extra info.

@@siriusczech Thanks Jan, yes I believe it is the "AutoSpy Minimap" that he is using. I went in and played with it because its the one I am using and managed to get mine to look similar to the way his is working.
I hate this map. Lost more than any other map in Ranked cuz somehow I keep getting early dead dd and teammates getting farmed sometimes.

It's really easy.
Not really, just do them when you play them, thats probably 8? I use regulary, haven't even bothered yet with 80% of my ships

@@CatWithBagOnHead so have I, what I'm saying is that you only need to do the ones you regularly use and zero the rest. If you ever feel like the need to play your T3 BB you can do it then, half of my ships I haven't respeced or played since the commander rework, just don't need to do them all.

Ranked is easy. Pls do a guide how to win random battles in a BB. I do 150k damage and still lose.
Sounds like your farming damage instead of denying position and taking out important targets first
