    What matters is that the only indisputable known facts so far are that Niemann cheated multiple times online and his former coach, Maxim Dlugy, cheated multiple times online, which is enough, given what's known about human behavior, to suspect that Niemann might cheat over the board if he thought he could get away with it. Which is not to say "once a cheater, always a cheater". But which is to say that we can never be certain. So, if the goal is to protect the integrity of organized chess and honest players, and reduce cheating as much as possible, then there's no good reason to give people who have been caught cheating a second chance. The bad guys in all of this are the cheaters, not the people who refuse to play them and who want cheaters out of organized chess.

No one has proven that Hans has cheated over the board but because someone owns a butcher they assume the slab of meat in the middle of the room belongs to him but no one saw when, where or how he brought it in. The crazy thing is Hans is still playing great chess despite the drama and beating some really good players. it's hard not to feel that people who are "Team Magnus" are doing so because they have a relationship with him and they really don't care for Hans. That wasn't the first time Hans beat Magnus and this isn't the first time Magnus has creud about not wanting to play someone. Wasn't he talking about quiting chess not too long before the tournament? Somehow this "exposes" the rampant cheating in chess but only Hans is under scrutiny but we sa the report that indicated that he wasn't cheating more than other GMs and hasn't cheating online in 2 years. This is purely to salvage Magnus' Ego

      @victorbasurto1584 Před rokem

      Independent of what Ben thinks, Magnus has no valid position here, he signed a contract to play the tournament right? He suspected Hans of being a cheater right? As I pointed earlier, the sequence should be:
      1) Magnus suspects Hans of cheating but decides to go ahead and play.
      2) Magnus loses to Hans, Magnus continues the tournament and does the interview.
      3) Magnus goes directly to the authorities and present his proof so a proper investigation on Hans is conducted.
      Furthermore, what happened:
      1) Magnus takes the opportunity to bring down Hans big way, the SC organizers chicken out and remained without legally enforcing Magnus contract, the FIDE is nowhere to be seen, maybe in meeting discussing some stupid thing, the FIDE goes out and hires four chicks to raise Hans spirits and as a distraction.
      2) The other players, although affected remain silent am do anyhting, what if for example Nipo says, hey we have a contract I quit also and I am suing the tournament, or the public saying, stop everyhting we want answers.
