1996 ? HONDA CR125 FIND

- Here we have a HONDA CR125 and I think it is a 1996? could be wrong this is just my first assumption from what ive seen.
This is my friends motorbike he sourced from a person who had it in a cow shed for the last 10 years, so obviously it needed going over i.e service, safety check and a clean and tidy up. Air filter was in desperate need of a change, the worse I have seen and definitely not good for the bike in that condition.
Once its been degreased, serviced and tidied up then I take for a test ride, the best part.

The low oil would not have been why it was knocking when it first started. The oil is for the gearbox not for the engine because it is a 2 stroke. It sounds like if it was knocking when it first started it would be a stuffed bottom end.
Looks like a 92 with 91 airbox. Cool bike! I have 2, myself.
Yes i agree now i found more out,my mate just told me what he was told. Is a fast bike for vintage. In bits at moment third gear wont select
Its age shows but those plastics are damn near mint

It's a 91.... Grey air box, oval slits in discs (92 on had round holes) forks are 91 style... White tank off a 92 tho.. Decals are 96 style.. Probably printed by frank at mxm..
I’m currently restoring my old race bike and finding parts for a 1990 Honda CR 125 is terribly hard

Its a 90-91 model. The shrouds are strong where they bolt on and 92-96 had the thicker tank and the shrouds were curved where they bolt on!
This is nearly transformed now to its former glory, been restoring for a good 8 months. It's a American model so had to get some stuff from usa. 91 it is mate took a while for us to work it out. Thanks for the input tho
That cleaned up nicely looks much better lovely bike sounds sweet your mate will be happy with that you must have quite a collection of bikes now lol

Just to be safe go for a full rebuild on the engine, cheap and easy, well relatively cheap and easy

It will soon be restored had a problem with the gears and while engine was stripped down also decided to restore it to former glory. It will be done this year its been difficult finding parts. Once complete it will feature again on channel

MOTO MACHINEZ UK yeah he has it up for 800$ , decent compression, goes they all gears , said it doesn’t idle, hoping it’s just an easy carb fix, might have to rebuild rear shock as well but what can I say, it’s 800$ gonna try and talk him down to 600

This is not a honda cr-125 year 1996.this is a 1991-1992 model....but not a 1996.
Id have pulled spark plug cap off . made sure it turned over then dropped all the oil . good find tho . I'd fully restore it an keep it ;-) nice bike mate
I know there are a few things I would do different now, I'm bit more clued up lol great little bike it's in the process of being fully restored not by me though someone who knows what they are doing. Cant wait to get it back and show the channel. Wish I could do myself but kids and not being that confident with spanner to pull completely apart restricts what i can do. @@djdanfetish1 I agree it's just was a big job and problem with some gears and my mate has done lots of mx bikes so it's been keeping him busy for awhile.

I got a 06 rm250 it's a lovely bike.
I shall sub as I've got my eye on a kx250 I know of someone has not touched for quite a few years. It's an 03 and was put away working.
Just trying the pursaude him to sell it me. Not beat up like this cr was.
@@motomachinezuk8786 yeah but the 06 was classed as the worst kx ever made lol .. But I love it its crazy quick . I'm just part collecting at the min then the build will start . its a super clean bike but I need to change the look !! .. Can't beat 2 strokes
@@djdanfetish1 I think that was mainly in updates was getting left behind by the rm and yzs development. Like you say still got a tasty power delivery and a nice bike to restore and give a new lease of life. Look forward to seeing it

This is a lovely bike definitely surprised me. Just in bits at the moment as third gear wont stay engaged. Another job to finish for my mate

That thing rips! too bad all those bolts are rusty and definitely could use a new right case. easy fix though
Hopefully back up running soon. 3rd gear wont stay selected mate trying to get parts. Defiantly rips for its age i was surprised
Days work i would have that looking sweet pull it apart jet wash then clean carb plug do oil water after cleaning it
offroad menace I gave it a service and good degrease. As not my bike did not bother with carb as it ran ok. If I had more time and if mine I would of done much more to it. Good tho for 10years in cow shed

That is a 90-92 cr125 with 96 graphics. google a 1996 and you will see the difference in body/plastics
I think that might be a 90 / 91 with 95 stickers.

Not a 1996 it’s a 89-92 mate best 125 engines ever made a are the hpp hondas
Hugh Jarse I now think that it's a 91. I see hpp on the power valve. Narrowed down you only person who has pointed this out. Cheers for info

Bike was owned by someone who didn't have a clue how to look after/maintain a Moto X bike,..new owner not much better,needs a home/owner,that will do a full nut and bolt strip down,engine should have a full strip down,every bearing and seal replaced, piston and rings,wheel bearings, linkage bearings,forks rebuilt etc etc,..do the job properly 👍
It is nearly done full restoration had engine running. Had for source new frame. Will hopefully be complete this summer watch this space . Like new maybe better

Alex V-i-P lol Its all I could prop her with at time. I have now made myself a triangle stand for future. It's a lovely bike wish it was mine then I would have gone to town on it but Neil the owner just wants to ride it he's not fussed what it looks like. Both good choices for a dream bike mate 👍
