- American tries British snacks and gives honest opinions! In this vlog, we taste test a wide variety of British snack foods. We give our opinions on which snacks we liked and which ones weren't for us. Before the vlog, we went to Tesco and got a variety of chips/crisps, biscuits/cookies, chocolate, and candy/sweets.

Jaffa cakes by law is a cake. There was a court case in the high court because they wanted to prove they were a cake so tax did not need to be paid as cakes are tax free. It was determined they were a cake as cakes start off soft and go hard when stale whereas biscuits start off hard and go soft when stale.
Very interesting story about the Jaffa cakes. Thanks for sharing it with us. We also really enjoyed these cakes.
As far as I'm aware Prawn Cocktail things don't generally taste fishy, they're flavoured to taste like the cocktail sauce, not the seafood bit.

Jaffa cakes are amazing
We sometimes call them cookies for example when they are chocolate chip cookies but we call things like chocolate digestives biscuits, obviously it varies which part of the uk you’re from or if you are from america for example but live in the uk

You should have tried dandelion and burdock, sparkling vimto, ribena and irn-bru. chocolate- double decker, crunchie, boost, maltesers, after eight thins. Biscuits- Jammy dodgers, wagon wheel, hobnobs.

Snakebite and black, haha the 80's/90's Goth classic when it was still legal to buy it in bars in the UK, I drank so much snakebite as a student, so I appreciate why they banned it!!! 🤣

A snack bite is just cider and beer it becomes a drink called diesel when you add blackcurrant juice
There is no fake orange orange in the Jaffa cake, the jelly is made with real orange Uk we have natural ingredients unlike the us.

Prawn cocktail flavour is just the sauce flavour no prawn. It is tomato ketchup, mayo and Worcestershire sauce mixed together.
These crisps were also really good. Such an interesting flavor. Thanks for explaining it to us.
What could have been a great video- because you had such an excellent selection of quintessentially British treats, was ruined by the constant sniffing (became quite creepy after a while) and snobbery. It should be fun but you made it really unappetising, clinical and weird.

DRINK COMMENT: ( this is probably long as hell) So, as a british person who has tried most of these things this is my comment, probably crying in pain or happy, Ribena: "Ribena, this is the blackcurrant flavour" makes me cry because ribena isnt good at making any other flavour except black current so personally if somebody said Ribena id know its black current. So, I agree with the review, but personally would buy it at a shop because its a classic and definetly agree with quite watered down, its a sort of mix sometimes, (fun fact by the way: alot of brits where I live, we use warmed up ribena as stuff like a drink if we have a bad cough, or just a winter drink. Lucozade: a personal fav of all flavours - agree with everything, orange is not my favourite original is the best, and err another fun fact: we also use original lucozade for colds, sick, sore throat, headache etc. again where I live, more common in children for lucozade, adults will usually drink ribena instead (DO NOT WARM LUCOZADE IF YOUR USING IT WHILE SICK)
Hi just to let yk the brown hula hoops do have flavour it's just that sometimes they don't but shake the bag and the flavour will get on the crisps aka chips

I'm sorry what? 'Lucozade so originally this is actually made for housewives when they first appeared in the 50s or something!'.
Lucozade started out as 'Glucozade' back in 1927. A doctor in Newcastle asked a pharmacist to make a glucose drink to give patients as glucose is more easily processed in the body of the sugars. The pharmacist invented a water and glucose drink, adding a flavour. Soon, his own sons started drinking it and it became more popular as a drink in it's own right, eventually demand outstripped production and another company was asked to make in on their behalf. This company dropped the letter 'g' and it became Lucozade.
Up until the late 80s, Lucozade was the drink you took into hospitals to give friends who were ill, or indeed if you were ill at home.
But the late 80s the company steered more into the recreational soft drink area more and more leaving the drinks, even the 'original' tasting very different to what it was.
In some ways Lucozade was one of the very first (non caffeine) energy drinks.
Lucozade pre-dates Fanta by 13 years and Gatorade by 38 years.

I think Walkers prawn cocktail are thousand island sauce flavoured without the prawn.
As the name implies it's cocktail sauce. It's supposed to taste like a prawn cocktail.

I’ve never seen Eastenders before. I’ll have to check it out. Not in London anymore, but I did go to Gregg’s a few times when I was there. The sausage roll was delicious.
It’s pronounced borbon, not bourbon, and it is named after the type of vanilla pod used for the flavour.

The tax on sugar here in the UK fucked things up for us i remember every snack being much more sweeter in the 90's and the noughties
That was the Soft Drinks Industry Levy - and as the name implies was for soft drinks only. So your memories of snacks being sweeter is nothing to do with the sugar tax.

Flakes are normally not meant to be eaten on their own. They are normally eaten as part of a 99 ice cream cone from an ice cream van. It is a cone topped with vanilla ice cream with the flake stuck in the top.
Interesting fact...did not know that. The flake was yummy, so I'm sure it would be even better with ice cream.
So everyone buys them from the shop and sticks them in ice creams??? They are 100% supposed to be consumed as a chocolate bar by themselves.

"these remind me of gumdrops" pretty sure gumdrops just stole them. also, freeze them, they are so nice frozen, but also nice chewy. wine gums tangy: sh**, no further comment i dont even care what yall say. CHOCOLATE (technically still sweets so its included) A FLAKE: HALELUJAH! amazing, yes it looks a bit boring, BECAUSE it wasnt in a mr whippy. no further comment. cornflake cluster bites: really short and nothing for me to review on it but i dont rate them as high as yall do, personally not really a "HEY! I JUST THOUGHT! I WANT TO GO BUY SOME CORNFLAKE CLUSTER BITES" i never have them unless we have them in the kitchen or something, cadbury fingers: legendary but technically a biscuit "it just goes" she doesnt believe him, but he so right, once i had 3 trays of these next to me, they were somehow gone IN JUST 5 MINUTES?!?!? "smells good", Please go get your nose checked, they do not. "really good, I like these" my respect for this girl is going slowly down and thats just wrong i think they put the wrong flavoured crisps in that bag. Thai sweet chilly: no comment never tried. (sound amazing) skips: probably my favourite crisps heavily underrated. "it gets soggy so weird texture" thats why nobody actually lets them melt on their tongue. wotsits: used to love these a few years ago, recently started tasting horrible to me now. "smell so good" agreed, my respect for her is back up ''like cheetos'' they are basically cheetos just completely different to cheetos. Monster munch: top tier crisp "we got it in pickled onion" pickled onion is the best. yes the satisfying crunch is one of the best things about it. but the flavour is also top tier Mcoys: i think these crisps have the BEST texture out of all crisps in Britain. no further comment. bbq beef hula hoops: if you had these in school you were like top tier kid (or any hula hoops for that matter) : "the ready salted looked boring i wanted something fun with flavour" respect is higher then the moon. "I like the shape though" very true. as a kid at school i would put all of them on my fingers so you couldnt see my fingers at all and act like a king, but with the beef ones, if you had a cut on your finger it would sting like being stung like a killer hornet. "very dry and dont really taste of anything" hula hoops to be fair are probably the driest crisps ever, and bbq is probably the least flavourful ones, so i get why you say that. a no from both of you makes me cry though, i thought you would atleast rate it OKAY.
