    Some notes:
    1) Most people don't eat full english daily. usually, they're a Saturday or Sunday thing, and you'd probably have it as your breakfast and lunch that day. The FE is regional. It'll change from South to North England, Scotland , and Wales. Red Sauce vs. Brown Sauce is a continuous debate; some like both. Black/white pudding is not actually that common, nor is fried bread. They're usually optional extras you'd pay more for. Tomatoes can be grilled fresh ones ror tinned, toast white or brown, eggs scrambled/poached or fried. Bubble and squeak can be changed for hasbrowns, or in boojie places, sauteed potatoes.
    2) People love pies, but usually, if we eat pies in a pub or at home, they come with peas/mushy peas, gravy, and potatoes of some kind. Pie, mash and liquor you tired is very much a 'London' thing but not something people generally eat outside of London. Usually, they have a pastry top, but you can order things like Shepherds pie, cottage pi, and fish pie that have mash and are not really 'pies.'
    3) Fish and chips in Londonares are not representative of fish and chips around the country. It's always better on the coast. In the north its common for the to be fried in beef dripping whilst in the south they mostly use vegetable oil. Most people love their 'local' and are enjoyed usually on Fridays. You can eat it with mushy peas/ curry sauce/ tartare sauce. At a chippy, you'll likely find Pukka pies, sausages, battered sausages, fishcakes, pickles, pickled eggs, and other parculiar things.
    4) People don't usually have large afternoon teas unless they're celebrating. Generally, if people go out for afternoon tea on the regular, they're just getting a scone and a cuppa.
    Great vid, loved that you involved locals.

      @@HereBeBarrI like the fact that you have gone to some of the more working class district s of my home city of London, especially in the East End to neighbourhoods like Bethnal Green for E Pellici's. London is very similar to NYC in many neighbourhoods and I love the diversity as well as the fact that British institutions like E Pelicci still stays strong. It would be good to see a video where you go to some other London areas to try some of the ethnic cuisines from all around the world. Brixton is great for Carribean food and Green Lanes and Dalston for Turkish cuisine. We even have a Chinatown in Central London near Soho.

      UK citizens do the same in NYC,no research,just go to tourist traps they have heard about,or just go to fast food,then they say American food is terrible,and expensive.I am British,born,and raised,but live in NY,and it is upsetting when I see other British people saying the food here isn’t good,and I know British people don’t like it when tourists say British food is bland.Even here in the comments British people are being negative about London food,and I know that there is good inexpensive food to be found in London,and just in case you think I’m a Londoner,I’m not,from Birmingham,but I know that in a city the size of London,there has to be good reasonably priced food to be found.

  • @JacknVictor
    @JacknVictor Před 29 dny +33

    Hash browns up until around 15 or so years ago were not a part of a full English. They started being added in the 90s after McDonald's started selling them, then because shops like iceland and farm foods started selling bags of frozen hash browns, for about £2 for 20, they were a cheap item to bulk the plate of food out for pennies, to make it look like you were getting more for your money. If i get a full English after 11am i will request chips with it, as i dont like hash browns, to make it more of a brunch. If i order one before then ill ask for an extra sausage or egg instead of the hash browns. Ill always have bubble if its on offer though.

      @lennybuttz2162 Před 21 dnem +1

      I wouldn't actually call those fried potatoes hash browns. I know that's how they're marketed but traditional hash browns are something totally different and much more delicious. I never saw mushroom on a full English I was also surprised there wasn't any white pudding?

    • @JanetBrown-px2jn
      @JanetBrown-px2jn Před 19 dny +1

      You know bubble was never on a breakfast in the days I was raised in England,bubble,and squeak as we called it then was something we ate for our tea,and a full English often had kidneys on it, black pudding were proper sausages,not those disks you have now,and when you cut them open,there was chunks of fat in them to keep them moist,though I always pulled the fat out,and discarded it.😊

    • @JacknVictor
      @JacknVictor Před 19 dny +2

      @@JanetBrown-px2jn yeah, bubble and squeak is still a teatime meal, but if it's on the menu I'll have it with a breakfast aswell. You do get decent sausages from some places, or if you make a full English at home, but a lot of cheaper places use cheapo sausages nowadays.

    • @lennybuttz2162

      @@JanetBrown-px2jn I've seen those disks on a lot of breakfast plates black and white. I grew up in an area of mostly German immigrants where we called it blood sausage and it was like 6" fat sausage that most people fried until it split open. It smelled disgusting and it was all mealy inside. We had 2 versions, regular and sweet. The sweet had raisins inside. I never tasted either one.

      hashbrowns shouldnt be on there, its criminal putting them on the plate. mushrooms just dont go with a fry either, mushrooms and eggs i'll never understand, its a combination meal, as in you should put a bit of everything on the fork together thats a beauty of a fry up, but mushrooms dont belong in that mix. Also to me you cant have beans and tomatoes, its either one or the other, those two dont mix together.

      Or the police. I stayed in a hotel near Buckingham Palace a few years back where the breakfast on offer was a) awful and b) hideously expensive. However, over the road was a traditional caff where the local police (of which there were many) ate. Absolutely the best breakfast ever and about 20% of the price of the hotel offering.
