The way Jake explains how he had a new dream and that was to look after Mac and be the dad to Mac that he never got reminds me of in Tangled when Flynn says when you accomplish a dream you go out and find a new one
But Jake didn't accomplish his dream. He can do both Terry is shown in the show doing both. This entire season sucked tbh. But that feels like they thrown all his character development out the window.

Also, Amy has 7 BROTHERS, and both of them have their parents WHO ARE RETIRED (well some of them are, pretty sure victor Santiago is fully retired) so they could Rely on them. The need for political awareness (the not actual need) caused multiple episodes to be scrapped and others rewritten, they became ashamed of the police in the writers room and it cost us the ending we deserved.
I think Jake knew as soon as Mac was born, he would have to be the one to stay at home and take care of him. He always understood why Amy wants to rise up the ranks because that what she wanted and Jake only wanted to be a Detective, just like Rosa.
Well, yes, but that doesn't really solve the problem. He wants to be there for his Son at all time, that's why he's quitting his job. The job isn't the problem, it's the time a child takes to be raised properly that is.
I could see him becoming a PI once Mac is older and in school. Or else at that point he could also rejoin the 99 with the caveat of only working hours that work with Mac's schedule.
Honestly if I had to choose between those three, the girl who was arrested would be my choice. I mean, I could always have her look after the baby in the break room, so people can check in on her occasionally and if she was arrested a year ago and is free, it was probably nothing major.

I’d love to see a future where Mac becomes a detective like his parents did but before that he pranks his parents into thinking that he wants to be a firefighter so Jake and Amy are shocked but then he’s like “psych!” Also in this future he’s close friends with Terry’s daughters, Cagney and Lacey, who also watched over him as a child as well as Nikolaj, but he lets Mac call him Niko because it’s easier to say, but he also has a great love of Die Hard like his dad and he is very cautious about the details kinda like how his mom was. But he also reaches out to his auntie Rosa and Gina plus his dad’s sister Kate on occasion. But he never fails to always mention that his dad’s father figure Raymond Holt. Plus his uncle’s Hitchcock and Scully.
If any woman finds a man sincerely and happily willing to give up his dream to be a stay at home/more involved parent, YOU JUST CAUGHT YOURSELF THE RAREST OF POKEMONS - Never let that person go
Best love story ever, way more then expected from a comedy show, jakes progress into an actual functioning adult with compromise and sacrifice for those he cares about and love is too real for me not to relate as Most people have been in these situation and had to work through them.
Knowing Jake, that is the best decision ever made and I completely understand his character choice. My biological dad didn’t get along with my mom, so she raise me all by herself. I promise myself I would be there for my kids if I had any, to the dad I wanted my dad to be… and I have a father figure showed me how.
tbh i hoped that Jake would end up working with the FBI and become the best, but leaving his job to be a good dad is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life 😭
You know I totally see a scenario where Jake is the head of housewives/househusband association of his apartment building and just gossiping around with old ladies about new tenants or general spicy news. Also in the early days he would steal somebody's group like he did with Holt and the ladies in season 5. It would be so damn funny 🤣🤣

This was really surprising but kind of not at the same time. I was waiting for him to leave but still surprised they ended the show that way. Doesn’t make sense I know 😂. I guess I was just surprised they actually did it. Big Bang theory had the stay at home dad thing but Howard was at home with his kids for almost the entire run. I think showing Jake and Amy stressing, running around and Jake deciding on his own to stay home was sweet
Yeah, that TBBT ep kinda annoyed me as I get that it was the joke and he doesn't do much with them anyway but the fact that Howard didn't really do anything to look after the kids for the one day that he tried being with them all day and got Raj to do it all after guilting Bernie kinda irked me. It's also annoying that he got to carry on doing all the things that he wanted to do after the kids came along (career, magic, band and planetarium etc) but that Jake, who was an amazing Dad who didn't get anyone else to do it for him and was truly a team with Amy, gave up so much and didn't get career and family. It maybe makes more sense for their personalities and parenting styles but I wanted to make sure that Jake would definitely be happy.
Watch Mac (Jakes son) become the best cybord android dystopian detective that Jake can only ever be truly proud of! Either that or one of Jakes criminal cases kill him and his son becomes Batman.
