  • Watch as Christa Westbrook creates a large-scale piece consisting of pinwheel shapes with layers of transparent and opaque colors, using a technique called veil cane.
The pinwheel pattern symbolizes community and unity and, for Westbrook’s Native American family history, a part of the past and future. Each piece of cane represents an individual in the community that, once grouped, works together as a whole.
Find the full schedule of upcoming live streams at www.cmog.org/live
In our live demo series, Bring the Heat, join us for a live stream of glass artists demonstrating their expertise and skillful execution while “in the zone.”
During each demo, an artist will present a personal design they’ve worked to perfect, and they will be live on the mic to narrate as they work-a rarity for live artist demonstrations and a first at the Museum.

I am continually amazed at the level of precision, teamwork, and raw endurance necessary to make these pieces. Outstanding job all around! It was a delight to watch the process start to finish!

I wonder if there could be an edit tacked on the end of these demonstrations to show the finished piece? I would love to see the final results.

I'm quite surprised how nervous the commentator is. It seems that he needs to prattle on about sometimes inane facts. Just a reminder, sometimes silence is golden.

Wow what an underwhelming piece. And it only took several million dollars in equipment!
