There is nothing good tasting about this stuff. You would think that with all the advances we've made in chemistry over the years, we could do better.

I am having this medieval routine done on Tuesday.
I was to have to take the prep kit. I read a lot of this stuff. I do not think it is possible to make any prep taste good. So, I got to thinking if a person can disarm the taste buds, hmm. Looked it up and viola! Here is what I did and it worked 99% perfectly, just a slight taste but nothing a bite in a lemon wedge couldn't handle! First, i did a trial run days ahead to make sure. First I brushed my tongue. I took a cotton ball split in two and put them in my notstrils, looked funny but this is to block the smell sensors. Then I applied peppermint oil to my tongue with my finger. Rubbed it as far back as I could stand. DO NOT SWALLOW. I swished and rinsed with water. Then repeated. I left the cotton in my nostrils and mixed the kit with the water. I poured it into a plastic glass that has a lid and a straw. Sucked through the straw as far back as I could stand. Gulped it down with about 3 or 4 breaths in between. Did taste it slightly but had a lemon wedge handy and bit it. Swished that juice and rinsed my mouth, what little taste I got was minimal. This made this drinking the stuff easy-peasey! Removed the cotton balls and good to go. On the first installment I tried to be a champ and woof down the additional water in record time even though I had an hour to do so. I did get a slight nauseous, so don't drink too fast. I got chilled but a sweat shirt and slippers took care of that. I had absolutely no anxiety for the second installment! Hope this helps! I have the procedure in about 5 hours. I am ready!

They have now changed the flavor. It’s no longer salty. Here is my review I am posting everywhere! I had my fourth colonoscopy this morning. In the past three preparations that I did, I was able to tolerate the drink with very little problem. I have heard people complain back in the day that the taste was horrible, but I had not experienced that until last night with Suprep.
In the past, I have always next the prep with Orange Zero. However, that actually made things worse, which I could not believe was even possible. The sweetness of this product is unbearable! At first I thought maybe I shouldn’t mix it with the Orange Zero (because it is sort of sweet), but when I got to the second dosage of Suprep, I tried mixing it with water.
Mixing it with water made absolutely zero difference. I even tried mixing just 1/4 of a cup of the Suprep with an entire cup of water, and it was still so sweet I was gagging trying to get that down. I am guessing that I drank about 1 gallon of water trying to get the second dose down, and that didn’t include the 32 ounces of water I had to drink after that.
And, just to clarify, when I talk about sweet, I am not talking about like when you put too much sugar in your coffee. This was so cloyingly sweet, and with a really weird grape flavor, it was more like if you took a grape soft drink and mixed in a pound of sugar. I just don’t know how anyone could ever tolerate that much sweetness along with that really weird grape flavor.
I spoke with my Gastro intestinal doctor before the procedure and told him that I never want to use this product again. He said that he has heard people complain in the past that the product tasted salty ... and I would’ve taken salty any day over this horrible stuff! At least with a salty product, I could’ve sucked on a lemon to help with the saltiness. There was absolutely nothing I could do to get rid of the grape sweetness, even with diluting it 100 times more than I should have, and chasing it with Ginger ale and diet Coke.
I looked high and low for a way to reach the manufacturer, but could find no way to contact them on the Internet. So, that is the reason that I am posting my review of this product here. I will do everything within my power to never have to use this product again!
Exactly it's too sweet that it me gave me headache and nausea. But it's not just sweet, it is also bitter. And the taste is so strong that nothing can beat it even lemon and Gatorade tasted bland after it.
I agree wholeheartedly with someone who said that the Suprep was sweet and bitter at the same time - sort of like bad Guiness. In half an hour I take my second dose and absolutely dread the thought. Doctor said this would be easier than the gallon of stuff I had in the past, but it is worse, plus it cost $95. Trying to use a straw just prolongs the agony.
What I did was take a sip of the mixture then some water then some cold chamomile spiced tea . Repeat 20 times until it's all gone. The first dose took an hour to get through. The second dose I finished in 30 minutes. Be forewarned the movement begins even before finished drinking the dose and every ten mins or so for 2 hours then it stops so you can have a rest before the next dose. Good luck.
Oh Man, thinking of begging out of this procedure. I've had chrones since my early 20's I'm now 66 years old, haven't had a colonoscopy since maybe 10 or 12 years ago, my Husband was was here then, he passed away in 2016, he was my "You Can Do It" he helped me get through it. The last prep I did was maybe a gallon of mixed orange taste, can't quite remember, the last bit early morning hours I was ready to puke, but my coach was there for me telling me I had it. This came from my Dad's side of family as I have two cuz's with chrones. Mine has been in remission since my 20's but with flare - ups, thanks to the stress, depression. My Dad had colon cancer, fought for two years and lost his battle back in 2003 , chemo and radiation. If I ever get cancer from mine I will not fight it, I will take the time I have left. What I seen my Dad go through makes me feel sick right now as I'm making this comment. My Doctor is retiring so he wants me to finally do one more before he's out. I told him, why, if I had cancer I wouldn't fight, the flare ups I'm having is nothing like the depression I'm having. I just don't think I can do this colonoscopy, I'm ready to cancel. I have a zero tolerance to throwing up, I had a virus many, many years back and in the hospital I threw up at least two or three days through the day, so now I can't stand the thought of doing so again. Okay no one wants to throw up, most generally, but I'm talking EXTREME revoltion in doing so. My colonoscopy is scheduled for June 5th. 2024 so it's close now. I'm ashamed of myself at 66 years old and at times like now I'm so afraid I feel like a child, being completely alone sucks, sad that I have a Son and Grandsons and their too busy for me. When my Son was a Baby at 3 months old he almost died, I was Blessed that Father God let him live, there wasn't nothing I wouldn't do for him as in caring needs while he was growing up and now I'm nothing but a pain and embarrassment to him, Hurts bad. Sorry for long comment😢

Just took the first dose 10 minutes ago. Worst stuff I've ever drunk in my life. Horrible, foul, disgusting, nauseating. Like drinking salt water from the Dead Sea, mixed in with dish water. The company that makes this should be banned.
Yours is the closest description to what this actually tastes like that I’ve come across. Nasty chemical taste mixed with salt water. And what this lady is saying about the timeline is off. Like others here have stated, the Suprep must be ingested, followed by 32 ounces of water, all within one hour. The aftertaste alone (even drinking it cold and adding ice cold water, then holding my nose) is enough to make you vomit. After finishing round #1 of it, in exactly one hour it started working. Yippeee... I get to o round #2 at 3am!

Can you substitute ginger ale or Gatorade instead of plain water when you mix Su Prep? Or just add a splash of ginger ale like you did in this video?

My docs instructions say mix with water OR clear liquid of choice. So I'm going to mix it with ice cold Gatorade. I figure Gatorade is rather strong tasting and the cold temp should also help tone down the flavor. Also, just hold your nose. That right there should cut back dramatically on the flavor.
I have a colonoscopy tomorrow. I have finished the first dose, I mixed it with ginger ale. It was still sickeningly sweet, but I got it down (took about 40 minutes). For my second dose I'm gonna mix it with lemon-lime Gatorade, hopefully that will taste a little better, but probably not. Thanks for the tips!

Hiya, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s at 17 and have had at least two colonoscopies a year since. I’m now 26. I recently moved to a different GI and this will be my second colonoscopy with him, and he uses this prep (my prior one went the miralax method). I thank you for these tips. I really hope it allows me to keep it all down, because that’s my constant worry.

I had my 4th colonoscopy over the course of three years this past Valentines Day (yes, I can now check that off my bucket list). I've used GoLytely twice; HalfLytely once; and most recently SuPrep. For anyone who complains about the taste of this preparation, they have clearly not used the others. Even when using traditional green Gatorade in lieu of water with GoLytely and HalfLytely to try and mask the horrible flavor - they still tasted what I can only imagine a well used urinal biscuit with a dash of Ajax might taste like. SuPrep, although not pleasant, is head and shoulders better than my previous experiences. Again, I used Gatorade to try and mask the flavor of the concoction, which worked reasonably well. The next time, I think I'll go to the supermarket and try using a half gallon of pulp-free lemonade - I think that might make the taste the least offensive. A shot of Captain Morgan might be a good idea too... but, could hamper my ability to make it to the toilet in a timely manner.
My experience was, SuPrep causes the gates of hell to open in about 45 minutes. By the end of the third hour, the purge was largely complete. Keep that in mind for the day you actually go to have your procedure (give yourself ample time for the prep to finish it's work).
I’ve used lemonade with magnesium citrate twice, and plan to try it with Suprep tomorrow. I used Suprep for my 1st colonoscopy in 2013, but not with lemonade since I didn’t know that was possible

Came across this in looking for any suggestions for flavor enhancers. I've used the go lightly whatever it's called before and this seems a lot less offensive but when I asked the pharmacist , they said they don't flavor it. I said uh okay and cringed. Lol. My dr gave me a list of options you can drink during colon prep and said its good to drink a ton to prevent getting dehydrated. Im allowed the red colored stuff also since this is not for a colonoscopy but in prep for a hysterectomy. Yay. In the past I've used candy right after drinking the prep that isn't dyed red. My one that I liked most was the Werthers Originals bc they are mainly just a sugary vanilla/caramel and cuts the sodium chemical taste. Tricks are to make it very cold and to use a straw. Ick. Good luck to anyone reading this!

Thank you Linda! I'm using this for the first time soon, and I'm very worried. I haven't been able to get down the GoLightly or the CoLight stuff in YEARS....gag reflex keeps me from it! So I've done the fleets, and then the horse pills for a long time now....and I'm starting to be unable to get all of those down. I can't STAND drinking prep...but have no problem drinking liquids and water. I know it's psychosomatic, but it is what it is. This has helped me see I can mix other flavors in, and HOPEFULLY get it down....but I plan to DOWN the first entire one instead of doing it over an hour (that just sounds horrible). Would that make me sick?

Well, got all cleaned up, Did my hair, poured the mixture as you did in a martini glass, topped it off with ginger ale! Pretended it was a party. Excellent. Wasn't that bad at all. Kind of tasted like a very salty Vodka Gimlet! LOLLL.Worked within a half hour. Course this is at 4 p.m. I may feel differently for the second bottle at 5 a.m.! Thanks again for all the ideas. Tomorrow morning, I'm trying the Crystal Lite topper.

Salt is necessary to clean the bowel out, GoLytely, Nylytely all of them are salt based. I agree somehow the flavor should be improved.
I believe you are suppose to drink the Suprep mixture (16oz) all at once, then drink two additional 16 oz of water over the next hour.

mix with lemon crystal light- a slice of lemon/lime before and after is a must. soda is good for chaser. Gator aid instead of water. and drink chix broth with better than bollian added. Lemon Ital. ice is great too

In the FAQ section of the Suprep Bowl Cleanse Kit official site, it clearly states, "Can I use a liquid besides water to dilute SUPREP? - No. After pouring one 6-ounce bottle of SUPREP liquid into the mixing container, add cool drinking water to the 16-ounce line on the container and mix." Is it still OK to dilute it with ginger ale?

I used Suprep for my first colonoscopy six years ago and it was nasty. I have a colonoscopy & upper endoscopy tomorrow so am on clear liquid, but this time am using magnesium citrate. I used it for my second colonoscopy & EGD two years ago, and was way more tolerable. Magnesium citrate is OTC (no RX needed) and mixes I’m easily with lemonade or other clear liquids.

Thank you! I wasn't sure if we could add something like gatorade to the prep liquid. This stuff is awful and salty! I have no problem drinking a shot of almost any kind of liquor, but this is 16 ounces of yuck! I inhaled right before I put the cup to my mouth and exhaled as I swallowed. Lol I basically meditated during the prep!!! HaHa

the first time i took it with water, i gagged it down... in like 10 sips this time i used the ginger ale and just drinking it down in 2 shots.... it's not a bad aftertaste.... is chewing gum cheating? and it was a million times better than the first time, no lie...

Can I call the number you gave Nicole? I have to do the SuPrep kit Sunday night & Monday morning. I have many questions. Doctor's office secretaries & pharmacy were not helpful & I'm on strict pre prep 4 day diet. I know what I'm not allowed to eat or drink, but I can't find complete list of what I can eat. Thanks
WHAT ABOUT THE DOSES ?
For those that don’t know. Mix approximately 15 scoops of miralax and drink about 64 ounces of water and you will go about every few minutes and it will be straight water. It’s basically the same stuff iou get but with zero taste. It’s the only way I will ever do it again. The prep kits are horrible. I couldn’t even drink the moviprep drink. I was gagging it back up.
Everyone is different. My first colonoscopy prep was with Miralax and gatorade and I had extreme nausea and projectile vomiting
oh, linda! i wish i'd seen you do this before i had to force down the first dose. i'm truly astounded at the vileness of the taste, but between you and the great tech at my doc's office i think i can face the second dose, later, today. i'm gonna try a test or two. one with lemonade and one with sprite. BTW: i hate cilantro and this gags me just like that stuff.
I know the powdered colonoscopy prep tastes great,but I might have to do like Linda and get me some ginger ale to help this go down easier.

mine took 35 minutes to kick in. I agree the taste could be better but not as bad as some of the cough syrups i have had over the years. Ginger ale maybe be a good trick.

Wtf no way in hell it's just a little salty. Its more like if someone dissolved a pound of flavorless sour Skittles into salt water from the ocean. The purpose of the prep kit is more comfortable and tolerable than the taste of this stuff.

I’ve mixed lemonade with magnesium citrate
Chill everything including the product in the refrigerator for several hours then be sure to have a straw Ginger ale and lemon slices several of them then pour the product in the measuring cup and fill the cup with cold water but leave an inch at the top and fill that inch up to the 16 ounce line with Ginger ale before you start drinking coat your mouth with lemon then start sucking away and when you have to take a breath quickly suck on a lemon it should only take you two or three minutes to get this down and you will not taste the salt and hardly notice the cough medicine taste then to get the 32 ounces of water down in the next hour add some ginger real this work for me

I would love to know the real details how long you sit on the toilet? I have to help my mother in law who cannot hold herself up and is a end stage renal patient. She is having a new procedure called a fecal matter transplant and i wonder how long we will be up at night? The dr said she does not have to have all the extra water, just 1 extra 16 oz jug after the 2 steps. Any comments how long to expect to be on the loo?

Thanks for doing the review it was cute and fun to watch. You make it sound and look almost like a fun thing to do. You're a very good actress. I just did both doses in the last four hours. I would call this stuff a Craptini as it smells like the chemicals they use to cover the smell in the porta potty toilets you use at outdoor events. It also leaves that smell in your mouth. It does clean you out and is not as bad as the other cheap option drinking the gallon jug over several hours like I did five years ago. Having my procedure 7 AM tomorrow morning.
Having just had my first colonoscopy a few months ago, I found the Suprep to be tolerable and not that bad. I think I drank it with Gatorade. I did find it salty, but not to the point where I got sickened by it. Having drunk barium for other procedures and seeing other colonoscopy videos, maybe I had my mind how vile it would be and it didn't come near that level. Don't get me wrong, I still wouldn't willingly drink something that tasted like that unless it was the only thing available to me, just saying it could have been far worse.
Hello, thank you for your great video introduction on a colonoscopy prep.I have a colonostomy scheduled for a week from now and I'm not looking forward to it.I don't know if I'm going to do a John Wayne and not be put to sleep so I can go right to work that night but I may decide to go either way. One thing I'll mention even though the ugly stuff that tastes nastyif you drink all of it at least you'll know for certain that's going to clean you out because the sweet stuff that you're taking if you don't take it right you're going to have to do another procedure. And I've heard of that before so the way I look at it is I'm going to take the nasty stuff so I won't screw up the process to do it again. I want to get my results right away and once this is done trust me I'm going have peace of mind. I pray that my results will be positive but then again I want to say that you had a great video that never would have made it more easier to be comfortable with it, colonoscopies are not fun

I'm 65 and I've thrown up four times in my life - and this crap almost caused me to barf. I can't believe they can't do something to make it go down just a bit better........the taste of this shit is indescribably bad. I started to wretch, a bit - and for me, that's sayin' a lot. Just awful! It's like drinking gasoline. I've had some other colonscopy preps and contrary to one previous comment, they were NOT worse.......are you freaking kidding?
I just had to take this very same thing last night for my colonscopy today, i mixed mine with white grape juice with crushed ice this stuff goes right throw you so you better be close to a bathroom, this shit is so freaking nasty almost made me vomit I'm in no hurry to do this again…

Strawberry would be red, correct? I was specifically told not to drink or eat anything red or purple because it can affect how well the doctor can view the colon. Hmmmm...

Hate to say this but you shouldn't be drinking soft drink/carbonated drinks with that stuff. It's just gonna bloat you out and make you feel horribly gassy. I'd save the dry ginger ale til after the thing. That way you can really enjoy a darn mighty fine cocktail ( in moderation of course) 💚💩

Worst taste ever! Golightly was more tolerable. Chased it with sips of apple juice between gulps which helped. Also sucked on clear hard candy between, not red or purple candy. Drinking it made tears come out of my eyes.
